The universally accepted developers on this forum are Valve and Bioware, but if I asked the people I know in real life that are gamers at all, the majority of answers I'd get would be Activision/Infinity Ward and Bungie, because the people I know are 14 year old boys with 360s.

If we're counting past developers (before being bought out or absorbed), I'd say LJN.
He said LEAST hated.
Oh shit. I read "least", but something didn't quite register correctly in my brain. All right then, I'd probably say Valve. Maybe it's a stretch to say Double Fine? It's not often we get developers who are willing to be more experimental and bold, instead of formulaic and "money-driven".

Who do you think is the world's LEAST hated game developer and why? Based on games made and love for the fan base and the likes. I would vote for Activision, but after they screwed over Infinity Ward they probably lots a lot of fans.
Wait, do you mean most? If not, wow. That's pretty much not what I would have ever said.

Bioware, probably; however, they may lose that status with DA2.

Valve, Bioware, and Bungie. There's a difference between hating their games and hating them for the most part.

all developers are hated
but valve has never made a bad game so ill say them

EDIT: i want to say bioware but they make alot of RPGs and only recently when EA infected mass effect did bioware start moving toward the shooter audience
even though me and alot of people i know are trying to pull them back
Just because one game is more of a shooter then an RPG doesn't mean they're going to totally move away from RPGs. Just looks at Dragon Age. Though I want to see Jade Empire 2 to be honest. Plus, ME2 was a great game, and technically it is still an RPG as you're playing a role in the game with a good amount of customization.
ME2 was a great game im not desputing that
but you dont make a sequal by taking away parts
looting, permenent weapon mods, more weapons and armor, full stat building, a better paragon renagade system
these are all things that were taken away so that Mass effect would be simpler without replacing it with anything substancial

I both agree and disagree with a lot of your points. Personally, the looting thing seemed to be there in two, as (depending on what difficulty you were on) you had to make sure to get every piece of ammo you could find. The weapon mods were a nice touch in the first one, but at the same time they didn't really seem to do much until half way through the game. While I agree they need more weapons and armor choices, the first game was just stupid in that aspect because due to so many different types (more then half the stuff I picked up I couldn't even use) and the sheer amount you would pick up. It's annoying to have to sell all that stuff while making sure that each gun isn't slightly stronger then the one you have now. The stat thing I fully agree on. The Ren/Par system actually seemed about the same to me, plus it had the in-cutscene things you could do for fun (throwing a guy out a window, for example).

The thing you didn't mention though is the loss of vehicle sections, which to me was the biggest thing that changed it from a RPG with shooter elements to a shooter/RPG. Yes, they were long and dull a lot of the time. Yes, it quickly grew tedious. But it made the game FEEL huge and was A HELL OF A LOT BETTER then the planet scanning.

Why do I care said:
2k (marin,etc.)
They made Bioshock. No one hated that.
I did.

OT: As everone said, probably Valve. Or Tim Schafer. He counts, since he's a video game developer, he's just not a video game development company. The reason why is I think because he always makes creative, fun, funny games, and has a lot of passion for what he does.

i agree with what you say
mostly, but just because an RPG element like looting doesnt exactly work doesnt mean you completely abandon it you refine it and picking up ammo and money is not looting
also the paragon and renagade system in ME2 wasnt as good as the first
sure interupts are fun but the system in the first game allowed you to be full renagade but still be paragon once in a while instead of choosing one and sticking with it, making it more about what you would really do in those situations

completely agree about the vehicile just forgot to mention it in my post

my point is a sequal should be more substancial not less
me2 is less substancial than the first and i have a bad feeling that is only going to get worse with the third

I think you made a mistake and accidentally chose the most hated game developer out there right now.

Remember, amount of hate doesn't necessarily rely solely on game quality.

If you just want to know: "Which game developer is at the receiving end of the most nasty thoughts" (which is what, MOST HATED really means) I would vote for Activision.

I actually disagree (I'm a new guy, not the guy you've been arguing with)

I feel like they "trimmed the fat" with Mass Effect 2, more doesn't = better, they cut what was holding the game back, and focused on the core experience, much like trimming a bush.

Zynga, they make only good games, and nobody ever disputes that fact.

They are universally the most loved, and squeaky-clean developer out there.

Konami?
Ubisoft?

one of the two because they generally make popular games that arent hated due to their popularity like many other devs
