We've all seen them. After a series of great and exciting battles, or a fantastic unravelling of a story, here comes the forced stealth section to ruin our fun. What is, in your mind, the absolute worst in forced stealth?

I was just playing Shenmue, which inspired me to make this thread. I just got to the bit with the Old Warehouse District. It just plain sucks. The camera isn't very good for a stealth game, the flashlight doesn't illuminate enough, and there is no discernable way to tell where your goal is. It's not fun.

The ones in the Spyro games totally sucked, mainly due to the fact that it could only be acccomplished by trial and error.

Pretty much all of them.

I can't actually remember a good forced stealth section.

In before Windwaker.

I'd go with Phantom Hourglass, which is like Windwaker only you have to do it repeatedly and at least Windwaker's was kinda interesting.

Phantom hourglass, Fable and the bit in mgs3 where you have to escape a prison with no clothes, items or camo. I know you could say that all of MGS is sneaking but in mgs3 and 4 you can win just be shooting everybody in the head when you have weapons.

Farenheit, when you are being Lucas as a child.

Ever play the first Hulk game for the original Xbox?
It was 95% shitty stealth, 2% combat, 3% butt sex.

The infiltrate section in Final Fantasy Crisis Core for the PSP, it was way to hard, I still love the game though

True Crime: Streets of LA's stealth sections always felt really weird to me, as all other parts of that game were ludicrously explosive and action-orientated.

I remember that. Doctor goes around strangling soldiers, and usually getting the shit shot out of him. Yawn.

The one on the tie-in game for the film Planet of the Apes.

Christfuck that game was awful. I dont think I even got past the stealth section, I just lost all will to live after the 8th try. God knows why I even held on that long...

I think most forced stealth sections feel awkward or don't have the AI for them. I'd say that JRPGs in particular have a hard time implementing them. I think a better question would be what non-stealth game implemented stealth in a way that wasn't awkward or clunky.

Fable. You were forced to use stealth in one place (only one place). If you fail - the gate is closed and you have to wait 1 min to start all over again.
It's just stupid to put (a very badly made) stealth in a game, where all you run and mash one button to kill everything.

Yeah. You could pretty much run through the game with your tranquilizer or machine gun when you got one and kill it.

The only game I have played with a forced stealth section is wind waker and that was actually fun.
