Hope from FFXIII, I mean, just look at him.

He annoyed the hell out of me and was such a whiny bastard after his whole ordeal with Snow. The only thing he was good for was being a medic, and that was it.
Vanille from the same title. I think it took me all of 5 seconds to wish she was mute. The worst character ever.

Most of the characters from Dragon Age 2, except Aveline and Varric. Merril's on the fence.

Zevran from Dragon Age: Origins.

Alex Mercer from Prototype 2. Not necessarily the first one, he was at least hilariously hammy in that. Second game just turned him into a Bond villain. A dumb one.

Any of the Survivors from Dead Rising. They deserve to die to the hoards for being so stupid. Also the Convicts.
Seriously, fuck those guys.

The Agency Director from both Crackdowns, though he's worse in 2. Not helped by the fact that he's the only one that really talks to you.

As bad as the playable cast of FFXIII are, at least they get some character development. On the other hand, the main cast is one of the shallowest lot of losers I have ever seen in an RPG, none more so than the main villain, Barthandelus. He's basically an evil version of the pope who turns out to be an evil robot God who wants to kill all humans. Why? Who knows, I've certainly no idea. Other Final Fantasy villains might also have wanted to destroy the world, but at least their motives are fairly clear.

She annoyed me at first just because she never stopped talking and was so bloody perky, but then she was alright after the incident at the amusement park. I used her a lot because she was a great medic, saboteur, and ravenger.

Hope and Vanille are not that bad. They start off bad but once you figure out backstories and have some character development they turn out as decent characters

example:
Sorry dude, I think it would take a lot of good character moments for me to forgive that voice acting. I wanted every scene involving her to end. Immediately.

That prick in the background. Yes, you, Leandros. You're the enbodiment of why people hate the Ultramarines. Take your Codex and shove it! And tell Matt Ward I sent you.

I also have a strong dislike for Garrus from ME everytime I see him I just want to punch him in his stupid bug face. Hes not the worst character ever but I think my dislike has been heightened by having him rammed down my throat since ME3 especially since he died in ME2 (I made sure of that).
You hate Garrus? Is that even legal?
OT: Vamp, from Metal Gear Solid 2. I thought the entire idea of a vampire-like enemy was a bit corny to begin with, but I didn't really start to despise him with the fiery burning passion of a thousand suns until this...
When I first played MGS2 years ago, I developed a bona fide crush on Emma. She was, in short, the cutest video game character I could imagine. I wished that I could meet a real-life Emma, marry her, and just watch her do clumsy, adorable things all-day long. I literally, LITERALLY cried when that son of a ***** killed her. That's why in MGS4, I was overjoyed when Raiden finally finished him off. I don't care what anyone else says about him, he avenged Emma, for which he has my eternal gratitude.

Carth Onasi from KOTOR. I didnt matter if you chose light or dark side for you to be able to hate this idiot, and when he finally leaves your team he runs off like a little wuss and then he runs off and hides.
Carth?

He stuck with me to the end. IDK what you're talking about I really sympathized with him.

He's just an ordinary soldier caught in the middle of a battle of titanic heroes that he knows matter much more than him.
He doesn't think he matters and he doesn't know who he can trust. You are the only person that he can remotely call a friend and understand, and then
you discover you are Revan
and you, his only friend left, turn out to be the one person in the galaxy that he has only known hate and have animosity against.

I guess some people chose the wrong conversation options and caused him to abondon you but he stuck with me to the end and I loved him as a character. (Bastila was still my favorite).
Actually I agree. In fact I found that pretty much all your party members in KoTR were loveable in their own way. Sure Bastilla was a bit of s stuck up ***** at first and her lectures grated on my nerves, but after a while she kinda grew on me. And Carth, if you actually talk to he guy, you find out where he's coming from and why he's the way he is, and like Jaeke said, assuming you don't abuse him, he will stick by you till the end.

I find your rant about Dark Souls endlessly hilarious, because you don't seem to have a good grasp of what the game is. It's not like you were supposed to hit him. It's not the games fault that you attacked something that you aren't supposed to attack, and it destroyed you. It's sort of like the Cuckoos from Legend of Zelda.

You can't make someone more badass. I think the only way you make someone badass is to tone it down. "HURR DURR LETS MAKE HIM A ROBOT NINJA" isn't that interesting because it's toning things up to the point you just ask "Really, Mr. Kojima? Frank Jaeger was a lot more badass".

Fi from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, hands down. Navi at least had the decency to keep what she had to say short and to the point. Fi, on the other hand, draws everything out as long as possible, her text crawling along with that horrible gibberish that's supposed to be language when she does speak, and most irritatingly, everything Fi says is either Parrot Exposition or Captain Obvious in nature. I don't know why they wanted Fi telling players the exact same thing they were told by another character, or repeating the instructions you got for a new item when you already were told how to equip/use it when you first picked up the damn item.

Then there's how she chimes in when you are low on health, with that damn chime not going away until you listen to her when you've already got the low-life meter beeping, or telling you that the Wiimotes batteries are almost dead and that you should replace them, in case you decided to gouge your eyes out and can't see the big, red flashing indicator in the corner of the screen.

Momo from Xenosaga II.

It's not so much that i never wanted her to exist, but it's more like she had a seizure at the beginning of the 2nd game and forgot everything that happened in the last game (Including her magical sailor moon transforming powers).

I mean like there was 10 frames of Unshot footage between the 2 where Shion's glasses mysteriously turned into glass instead of holographs, all the characters got taller and more defined, plot points that were dramatically heavy and risque became dinner-topics and the sexual tension seemed to dissipate like someone opened the window.

In fact, the whole game and all the characters can kiss my ass. I'm so glad ep 3 cleaned it up.

no, because you got to watch him get killed in the second game and you only need to talk to him in the first game.

Uhh...okay? The point is that the game doesn't really give you any indication that this guy is gonna constantly kick your butt 24/7 no matter what you do or how many times you respawn. That's all. Again, I know the game is punishing and hard and all but to me, it was kinda dumb to do this so early in the game mostly because there's no way to get out of that situation. I got lucky I managed to run away and he fell off a cliff. otherwise he would still be there every time I'd load up the game, kicking my butt every 5 seconds.

Look, the title of the thread is "Worst character ever". To me, that guy qualifies as such. In my point of view. It made me return the game. Some people might find it as a challenge. I didn't, just because of that NPC. The title of the thread isn't "The worst character ever based on logical conclusions, hard facts and popular beliefs", otherwise this thread would be empty. So that's my opinion, man. Just let it go.

You aren't familiar with the entirely scientific process of badassification, then.
Badass naturally occurs when a person or object is or appears able to kick asses.
You can then artificially induce more badassitude by enabling to object kick MORE asses, or ALL the asses, as the case may be. This heightened badass level is then known as being "totally radical". One becomes totally rad (scientific abbreviation for radical) by adding cool things to an already badass person or object. In the case of Raiden, we add robots (equal to dinosaurs on the OCI, or objective coolness index), making his already impressive ninja skills even more powerful. Once his body is replaced by crazy future robo-parts, he becomes a cyborg. Cyborgs, being partly organic and partly robotic in nature, are usually regarded as more badass than a normal robot or organism. The exception to this is when the wrong parts are made cybernetic (itself a different scale I won't go into here, for the sake of brevity). Essentially, if the subject is still recognizable as an organism, only more powerful, the rule is in effect.
In a specific comparison between Raiden and his direct competitors for "most badass" in the MGS series, we most consider both his human and cyborg states.
Raiden vs (Solid) Snake
Raiden is more athletic than his counterpart, but more soft-spoken (See the "Oh Crap" incident) and lacking in the highly important facial hair. Snake on the other hand is noticeably more musclebound and battle-hardened. While Snake engages in his standard punchpunchKICK! attack, Raiden possesses instead the punchpunchDOUBLEKICK! attack. Here we find the conversation of badass rule. While Raiden's athleticism and agility is impressive and certainly to be commended, his attack is only cosmetically different from Snake's. Snake is able to accomplish the same amount of asskicking in fewer moves, therefore he is superior in that regard. Furthermore, while Raiden is a blood-soaked battle-hardened murderer, he loses points for pretending not to be/not remembering his child soldier history. Snake, on the other hand is and has always been knee-deep in a sea of corpses, and lives with that every day, driving him to near-alcoholism at one point (alcoholism being one of the most badass personal afflictions your character can be afflicted with, as it displays his tormented nature but carries none of the ethical baggage that drug addiction might carry stemming from the illegal nature of the substances). The fact that Snake's drinking problems stem not only from his guilt but also his restlessness at not being out fighting only adds to the badass level. Raiden merely has suppressed trauma in his background. Good, but it pales in comparison. Therefore, though badass in his own right, human Raiden is less badass than Solid Snake. The comparison in the player's mind causes Raiden to seem not badass at all, which is not the case.
Cyborg Ninja Raiden vs The Ninja
Frank Yaeger, known as Gray Fox prior to becoming the Ninja, is certainly a badass. He comes back from the dead stronger, faster, and tougher than he was before dying at the hands of his best friend. This is already high in badass level. However, despite his definitely cool death wish, he loses points for his masochism. When you have an orgasm in a form-fitting suit as a result of a brutal beating, that is not badass. It is gimphood. Gimps are never badass, despite their amazing ability to absorb physical assault. Furthermore, the fact that yaeger wears a suit is less badass than raiden, who has lost most of his human parts. However, the knowledge that knowledge that Raiden's blood now looks like he is leaking milk does even the playing field some. Then, the Ninja loses an arm to a laser. Cool, but not AS cool as having your arm crushed and being forced to cut it off yourself. and he has both arms gone and learns to summon lightning. Obviously much more badass.

I hope this was adequate to explain the topic

They purposefully tried to make Raiden more of a badass - that doesn't work. I can keep saying that Millhouse is a meme, but that doesn't make Millhouse a meme - it's forced.

So Kojima found out that people didn't like Raiden, and tried to force us to like him. That's not badass, that's miserable.
