Why are you getting such a hard-on for 'killing' WoW? Sure, it has been around for 8 years and there are lots of other MMOs to try out but if people are still enjoying it, who are you to want to stop them?

I'll be damned if anyone ever tried to prevent me from replaying Grim Fandango yet again for the umpteenth time.

I don't really see WoW 'dying' for at least 3 or 4 years. This new expansion and Guild Wars 2 might take a big chunk out of there userbase but at the end of the day they could lost 70% of their subs and still pull in a profit.

I think people that defend WoW have never played Guild Wars 2.

You log an hour or two with GW2 and you realize how much trifling bullcrap WoW has.

People are sticking with it because of the enormous time and real money they've sunk into that game.

It's akin to living in 1995 and saying "Internet? Who needs the internet, the library is right down the road."

I'm pretty sure that in '95 people would've said "Internet? Who needs the internet, the TV is right here."

Excuse me if I come off as dumb or anything but can someone explain to me what this does? I've never played WoW so I don't really understand what this actually does. What I know of WoW is that apparently it's about as addictive as Facebook or something.

Also, someone said that TF2 was holding down the FPS genre or something. Care to elaborate? I've played it since it came out and while I don't agree or care about the whole hat bussiness, it's a pretty good game overall.

Yeah, people have been "prophesying" the death of WoW since it's incarnations, and all that's happened is it's grown bigger and... well, not better... but still!

If you ask me, the game has another 4 to 5 year life span until Blizzard reveals and releases it's Titan project. And know Blizzard, we'd be lucky if we got to see what Titan was this decade, a good century or two before release... easier getting to Mars I'd say than that happened.

Why do people want to kill WOW?

Good god, just leave the freaking game alone! Do you know theres people that actually might like the game right?

Because WoW ruined MMOs forever. The combination of it's dated game mechanics and success has driven countless other companies into the ground trying to accomplish half of what Blizzard did, and the games have suffered because of it.

Imagine if a Final Fantasy game had become the pinnacle of RPGS, and not just JRPGs. It had made so much money and become so successful that every developer that had plans to make an RPG tried to remake that one Final Fantasy - let's say it was VII. Now you might say VII had already become ridiculously over-hyped and undeservingly popular and had branch countless copy cats; but, it still doesn't compare. Imagine if EVERY FUCKING RPGS UP TIL NOW was a remake of that game.

Another words:

No Mass Effect
No Dragon Age
No more Fallout
No more Elder Scrolls
No Western RPGs... period.

Nothing but FF7 clones for years to come. Or another words FF13 every few months.

That's what WoW has done to MMOs; it's stagnated the genre so badly no attempts of originality in the last 7 years have been made. NONE!

That's why WoW needs to die, and die hard so one day an MMO can come out again that might be worth playing. 0o
Yeah I undestand all of that. But. AGAIN...

Do you know that there are people who MIGHT, just MIGHT still like the game right? The one you are trying to kill... Thats not cool.

On a completly unrelated note, that one post that you quoted me for is EASILY the most quoted of my post by FAR. I think I have got quoted for that post at least 10 times by now. LOL.

Having gone back to the old world for pet battles and powerlevelling professions:

CRZ is really pissing me off.
Beyond some buggers from other servers nicking my resource nodes, there's a (literally) game-stopping second of lag while my characters are transferred to cross-realm zone areas. It pisses me off.

Would you rather they closed down your server and made you move to another? If your server uses CRZ it means it doesn't have the population to sustain itself on its own.

No, it doesn't. It means that particular zone doesn't have many people in it, so they cross over players from other realms to make it feel more populated and assist with questing and the like.

I loved wow in the day, but if you eat crack every day eventually you get bored of crack and move onto a new more exciting drug! like GW2 or heroin you know which ever floats your boat.
I think you are doing drugs wrong...

OT: I was so sure this would be a GW2 thread. Glad it isn't one as those get old fast. I think the ultimate WoW killer will be time. People are just getting bored of it. I know a lot of people who were really into it but have all shifted away once they got enough people to max level. It gets repetitive after a while and people stop playing. Had a lot of friends stop playing it for that reason lately.

I'm really interested in seeing how many subscribers WoW is going to lose after the end of October and the annual pass contract runs out.

I'm still paying for a game I haven't played in 6 months :(

Yea I know, my fault.

How can you just dismiss anyone saying they like CRZ as griefers? that's stupid. I happen to like CRZ for the most part. Leveling was easy and fun and there was not much lag after the first 2 hours. The world PvP it creates is awesome too.

CRZ is good.

I supposed that makes sense. The only way to kill the beast is to let it self destruct. Very clever!

One MMO to rule them all,
One MMO to find them,
One MMO to bring them all
And in the darkness make them pay ludicrous amounts of money on a monthly fee to keep playing a game that has so much grinding it's like a second job.
