No, like how Daikatana just means big sword in Japan but it sounds cool here.timeadept said:then apparently the Japanese word for gear is... gear? how does that work out?
Machamp wore pants, Jynx wore clothes (well ish)Irony said:Am I the only one that noticed that there is a line of Pokemon evolution where the Pokemon goes from wielding a 2X4 to a steel bar to two blocks of concrete? And that there are two Pokemon wearing clothes?
This changes things....how? It's still a pokemon that looks like a gear, and it's named "Gear". It being the Japanese name doesn't make it any less un-imaginative.arc1991 said:They are not the English names! they are the Japanese names!Grey_Focks said:...Gear? Really? REALLY? I'm sorry pokemon, but you guys need to admit you've run out of ideas. the first two gen of games were great, and they had awesome design. Third had a few decent, fourth was pretty "blech" imo, and this....meh. I really haven't played a pokemon game since third gen (that was ruby and sapphire, right?) and I'm kinda glad I left when I did.
Just took another look at them, slightly more "in-depth"...and there's an ice-cream pokemon. Fuck it, why not.
That's its, time to edit my OP
Back in the day, I could recite the first 151 pokemon in order from Bulbasaur to Mew.Simalacrum said:Oh dear, I remember when I used to know all 181 Pokemon, both in Japanese AND English...
...I feel old now XD
Japanese don't use the word "Gear" so it's new for them ,they wont care.Grey_Focks said:This changes things....how? It's still a pokemon that looks like a gear, and it's named "Gear". No they are using the English name of what they would call a gear, not hard to work out.timeadept said:then apparently the Japanese word for gear is... gear? how does that work out?arc1991 said:They are not the English names! they are the Japanese names!Grey_Focks said:...Gear? So they made a gear pokemon, named it gear, and are using the word for "gear" in a language the people don't know so they won't "catch on"? You really aren't making a very good case for this :/ Unimaginative name is still unimaginativearc1991 said:Japanese don't use the word "Gear" so it's new for them ,they wont care.Grey_Focks said:This changes things....how? Definitely. The polar bear ones are basically frosted versions of Teddiursa/Ursarang.retro himself said:Okay, what? Almost all of them are just repeats of old pokemon. I see machop, machoke and machamp there, paras, that coral pokemon, zubat, golbat, hitmonchan and hitmonlee (the two pokemons wearing GIS, what??), basucally all of them are just repeats. Please tell me you see it too.
If they actually had Pokemon fusion a-la Shin Megami Tensei, I'd probably buckle down and buy the game.Carboncrown said:It seems they discovered pokemon fusion.
