Is Child of Eden being marketed as a Kinect game by any chance? Even if it's not a mandatory peripheral. I imagine that might stump the sales a little bit.

I'll be running to get the PS3 version as soon as that comes out.

Don't know why Infamous didn't sell but the rest of those blow, for once the market has spoken correctly.

Release Skyrim now and watch that ************ explode with sales.

Duke: Suck it Haters.

Surprised no one has insulted Infamous yet. Actually sold better than most people were claiming, but then folks are on some weird anti-sony bandwagon these days.

As far as I know it isn't mandatory, it just greatly enhances the experience.
I heard it was harder to play with Kinect than with a controller. I wouldn't call that enhancing the experience.
Guitar Hero is much easier with a standard controller but that doesn't make for the better experience.

I am neither surprised nor depressed by these figures. DNF had the advertisement so it got the sales. That's just how the world works.

I still like DNF [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.291283-Hypnotic-reviews-Duke-Nukem-Forever#11569732], but I did only get it for the lulz, and I guess a lot of people did. Not at all surprising, Child of Eden wasn't exactly high profile and was very much a niche game. It sure isn't my niche... Now if it came with the same vibrator as Rez did, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Y'know i didnt HEAR about Child of Eden until just this moment, while the Duke has been essentually marketing itself for years. Although, I may be forced to brush the dust off my PS3 its only because of word of mouth, I cant help but feel that far to often when people shout "its a travesty that this isnt more popular" its simply because of that lack of marketing.

You can't sell games no one knows about. I don't thin I even saw a commercial for either of those games :/

I only bought Alice: Madness Returns and LA Noire (which I've already sold back. It was pretty good, but not good enough for me to want to keep it before its selling price went down too far).

Child of Eden is just not my kind of game. It's not something I'd ever buy, even though it looks like it succeed in what it tries to do. I think Kinect hurt it, too. I thought it wasn't playable without the peripheral until very recently. A lot of people had that same assumption, which is understandable because of how it was advertised.

I didn't buy Duke Nukem because...I don't care about him. I don't have a history with the franchise, despite growing up as a gamer during the 90s. Not being into the FPS genre doesn't help its case either.

I didn't get Ocarina of Time 3DS because I don't have a 3DS and already have the game on the Wii. It's not a game I'd want to play on a handheld anyway (and I've already played it at least a dozen times). Just give me Skyward Sword already!

Shadows of the Damned looked damn good, too bad it wasn't for PC.

Jesus, Christ, yes, we know DNF was terrible for it's amount of time in development, but come on. There is no need to be constantly slandering a game that was average. A bad game is one that is broken, like Turning Point. Yet I don't even remember people talking about it, let alone taking the piss out of it every second fucking post.
Maybe because, unlike the game you mentioned which I haven't even heard of, Duke sold millions of copies and is basically the poster child for companies to continue making bland first-person shooters instead of taking risk on the at least somewhat different games like Shadow of the Damned and Children of Eden. The reason people crap on it so much isn't the development time, it's the fact that it only goes to prove that most customers are sheep that will buy anything that's hyped up enough. Of course, that doesn't actually excuse Shadow or Children, which got almost no marketing. That's especially bad for Children of Eden whichs sounds like it would be one of the bigger selling points for the Kinect.

Of course, to be fair, I didn't buy any of them. The demo for Duke made it out to be a dull, unfunny FPS with nothing interesting going for it, I don't have a Kinect to get everything out of Children of Eden, and the Steam Summer Sale ate any money I would have used on other games like Shadow of the Damned. So I suppose my opinion is about worthless.

I find it hard to compare Duke to Eden. Duke doesn't require a $150 peripheral to play it.

I know nothing about child of Eden, but based on what I read here...
I'm guessing the numbers are a little skewed and unfair as they probably don't factor in how many returns there were, or how many were allowed considering how many people probably pre-ordered it.

If Duke had been released three / four years ago people would be blowing their load all over it, because the graphics and controls are of that era people rag it instead of being happy that it actually got released and enjoying it for what it is.

The same people bagging DNF are the ones who will buy COD year in year out religiously...no comment is needed on these gamers.......
