I understand getting rid of the undead (I mean what good is a thief if he's fighting something he can't back stab)....
Only you COULD backstab the undead. Haunts and Apparitions went down with a single blow. Zombies went down, but they'd get back up later (severed spine didn't bother them so much). I understand why some people didn't like the undead sections, but I personally adored them. (I wouldn't have made a video of the Shalebridge Cradle [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srDSPtKZhfk] otherwise. *shameless plug*)
What would I like to see in Thief 4? (No, I will NOT call it "Thi4f".)
- Large open-world areas with plenty of vertical spaces (I want the Thieves' Highway back, dammit)
- More consequences for actions (big hauls will increase guard patrols; being seen a lot will help City Watch figure out where you live; a high murder count will have nobles hire assassins to 'take you out')
- Better reputation gameplay (able to bribe shopkeepers, guards, etc.; no 'buddy-buddy with the Hammers/Pagans'; doing jobs gets you better information/leads on more difficult jobs)
- Burricks (I want burricks back, dammit)
- Multiple options for entry into targeted places (take the back door and risk being spotted; climb to the roof and risk falling; traipse through sewers into a dungeon and risk being eaten by undead)
- Money meaning something beyond buying gear and keeping score (plying contacts for info, bribery, etc.)
- One overarching, direct, easy-to-find primary mission chain that I can pursue in my own time and style
I suppose what I'm saying is that I want the classic Thief gameplay mixed with some of Oblivion's open-world antics. And burricks.
It'd be nice if we got to visit the bear fights, too.
