When you see something go past a window or doorway and you know it's going to pop out and make you wet yourself, you just don't know when.

Inherant Good - Evil Meter, In New Vegas you get decimate an entire camp of Power Gang (or something like that) gaining Karma but You still can't steal anything after that (still losing karma)!? How the F does it make sense

the only Save checkpoint before that very long unskippable boss scene and very hard one

I can't stand escort missions. They are awful!

I have quit games and never returned, just because I can't face trying to save a stupid AI character. It really upsets me, and I can get all stressed out about it...

Parts where the main character is randomly killed off for no good reason (See modern warfare games) I spend all this bloody time playing the guy, and suddenly bam hes dead? why cant i move from obvious danger, or kill the blatantly evil guy that no one points out for being evil before he murders me?

I don't like games that imply that they know more about the main character than I do. Like Marcus Fenix never aiming in cutscenes, when I prefer it over cover any day, and when John Marston feels bad about looting people's bodies after killing them, when it's the killing I'd rather do without. I understand that it's their game, but I'm the one playing it, and I like a character who's morally ambiguous. Like Gordon Freeman, or Master Chief. They're both saving humanity, but no one is very specific on the details. I can be their voice, I can speak for them. I like that.

Also, why did John Marston have to be married?

Cliffhanger endings. They're becoming more and more common and I freaking hate it. Some games handle it better than others, but most of the time it just comes off as saying "Thanks for playing. Now get ready to fork over your twenties for the sequel."

I hate floaty walking...as in your character just instantly moves forward and instantly goes up when jumping. No muscle movement involved...just moving. Jumping is the worst, just magically floating into the air as if weightless.

Villains that are completely 2D evil dumbasses. I like my Villains to actually have some sort of depth and possibly make me feel for what they do.

Better yet, Villains that are actually better than the "Good" side.

Case and point, the Fallout 3 DLC The Pitt. I sided with Ashur because in the long run, he actually has better plans for The Pitt and the rebel leader is quite frankly, a fucking monster.
He is perfectly willing to torture and kill an innocent baby to meet his ends and eventually become a ruler far worse than Ashur.
Considering who/what I am, I was compelled to make him suffer a horrible fate. He needed to die.
[sub]I made him burn... He will never hurt a Loli on my watch...[/sub]
[sub][sub]It's ok Marie, I'm here now... he won't ever be able to hurt you... I made him go away...[/sub][/sub]
[sub][sub][sub]You're safe now...[/sub][/sub][/sub]

EDIT: I see we have many new Escapees in this thread.
Welcome to The Escapist.
Stay away from the basement.

I have been known to quit playing a game purely because I don't like the main character's voice or because I think their animations look stupid. inFAMOUS is currently falling into this category, although I'm determined not to quit this early.

So yeah. A voice that grates on me or seems totally at odds with the character or just plain doesn't sound natural will drive me batshit crazy. It doesn't even have to be bad voice acting. I can tolerate bad voice acting if it's entertaining enough, and a perfectly good, emotive performance can piss me off just because I find their tone/pitch/accent/phrasing/random orgasm noises annoying. GOD DAMN IT VANILLE!

Pretty normal things in games that I hate? Hmm...

I don't like collectibles at all. I'm a rabid perfectionist and always end up spending way too much time trying to find those damn things, and it always feels more like a chore than anything else. I really can't help it, though. Plus, there's an extra layer of redundancy to them now that the internet exists and a lot of people who want to find them all just look online.

Also, I hate morality systems. Every time they're used it feels gimmicky to me.

Where do I begin? Unskippable cutscenes, water levels, Deathclaws, bad voice acting, escort/protection missions, way-too-easy boss battles, annoying sidekicks, some characters being unable to swim (Altair, John Marston, Sly Cooper, etc.), and a whole lot more.

Game sections "on rails"... barring rail shooters obviously, thats the whole point. But I hate it when the game takes almost 100% control away from you for some reason. Got rather absurd in black ops last night when I got around to playing the campaign s'more and I get to the pentagon and... then I get led round it on rails... is there some reason you took away all control but the ability to swing my head around a 120 degree arc? do you not trust me to make my way down the corridors by myself?

Still I did manage to console and highly amuse myself by flinging the characters head around wildly and just imaginging how people would react to the crazy man walking through the pentagon with his upper body flailing around like he is one of those bobble head dolls.

Personally, that woman in the rift add is a perfect example. I know she's a woman. I know she has curvy bits. But, for god's sake, either put her in armor or don't. Don't stick her in an armored bra that will do more to harm her defense than help it. Hell, she's likely to gore herself on that wickedly sharp corner of her armor if she has to stoop to pick something from the ground.

Games that supposedly grant you free choice and yet you can't kill certain characters only because they're 'important' BAH.

Ammo limit caps, I mean seriously, if I want to stockpile a near infinite amount of missiles, FUKKEN LET ME. DON'T JUST FORCE ME TO STOP AT 100. I want to be able to get to the final boss, smugly flip him off, and laugh like a psychopath as I nail him with missiles and other assorted MOST POWERFUL WEAPONS. Or something similar with harpoons. Games need more harpoons/spear guns. I would like to Crucify my enemies to every wall thank you very much. Also this isn't really a game feature complaint, but we need more giant Robot games.

Missables. Whenever I play RPG's I'm weary of crossing into new areas because there might be a chance I missed something good. As a person who opposes walkthroughs this can drive me insane.

Knee high walls that are unasailable :|

Or when your character could easy squeeze through bars in a gate, but you have to open it instead.
