?Incidentally don?t get raped by a domestic cat Mr. Tran. You know why cats always howl when they have sex? They have barbed penis? that destroy the vagina on the way out and ruins you for all the other cats.?
? Grandma Norma (Dr Tran)

Well I looked it up, yes male cats do in fact have a barbed penis.

"Whole male cats have barbed penises (much like a fishhook), and upon withdrawal, the female cat will often scream (whether from ecstasy or pain is questionable). It is also believed that the barbed penis stimulates ovulation."

The toilet is NOT a trash can! Paper towels and wet wipes NEVER go in it! Those aren't NEARLY the same thing as toilet paper! Toilet paper is specifically designed to dissolve in septic tanks. You know what isn't? PAPER TOWELS!!!
Interesting. I did not know that. Thanks for enlightening me.

You should *NOT* give cats anything containing milk.
Such as cream, butter, joghurt or... erm... MILK!

Ffs, so many people are seriously risking their cat's health.

Entertainment's only purpose in our lives is to distract us from realizing one day we will die, kicking and screaming, into a deep dark black abyss, and we won't want to go but we won't have a choice...

1) I really, really, really wish that people understood science better. How it's performed, when it's good, when it's bad, and what you can conclude from the findings. Very few things piss me off more than going onto a fluff article on CNN or something about "Eggplant may cure cancer!" and seeing a bunch of "It totally worked for ME..." in the comments. The plural of personal experience is not data! Also, correlation is not causation!

2) Global Climate Change is real, it's happening, and humans are causing it (we 'tipped the scales' with fossil fuels). The dissenting scientific community makes up about 2% of all scientists, and most don't have a related degree. You don't go to an MBA for your goiter, you don't ask a Historian about climate. We're not going to stop it or slow it in time, either. The only reason we're not noticing quite yet is because of our location and wealth. Prepare to move, people. I'm thinking Northeast or Northwest.

3) I'm also aghast at how short too many peoples' political memories are.

Let's just get this out of the way, shall we?

There's a difference between there and their. There's a difference between your and you're. We use 'there' for describing, roughly, where something is. Example: "Look, kids! Right over there! *points* It's the three-cocked purple Gromblylor! Gaze upon its magnificence with awe!"

'Their' is a possessive word, used before a noun. Key word here: POSSESSION. Example: "It's their creepy as hell bird thing, they can do whatever they want with it."

See whut I do thar? 'Their', as in, someone owns this "creepy as hell bird thing." Someone (yet to be mentioned) owns that purple three-cocked bird, and it's not MY business what they do with it.

'Your'. You are you, and you own something. This makes it 'yours,' or your own. "Jesus Christ, Bill, that THING over there is yours?"

'You're'. You. Are. You are. You are washing the dishes. You are walking down the street. You are picking flowers in a field. You are petting a kitty cat. Make sense?

What you can access with a normal web browser is not the entire internet.
Having a high IQ doesn't mean you somehow magically know everything to do with maths and science.
[sub] Tumblr didn't create all those god damn memes you shout in my face every day like an idiot. [/sub]

In the U.S. Exit numbers increase from 1 when driving north on an interstate at 1-mile increments. They decrease by 1 going south. The number resets back to 1 (or the highest exit number of the state) every time you hit a new state.

Just found out this wasn't common knowledge not too long ago.

Besides, I doubt anyone's looking for realism when they make anthro humans in games or on Deviantart. How are people supposed to fap to flat-chested reptile chicks?
I just have this feeling telling me that people should use some degree of logic when they make a species, but I also know I am the minority so meh. I also agree about that second part, at least half way. I expect people making fap fantasies to do this, but I also expect a tad bit more care from people paid for their creative efforts.

Internet Etiquette, as in be liberal in what you take in, and conservative in what you give out. Do not feed the trolls, and expect that anything that can be said or labeled can be hated, bastardized, and used against you. Perceived anonymity does not equal guaranteed anonymity. Absolutely correct grammar does not exist so much as it is mandated by common usage. Everyone has their right to an opinion, but some opinions ARE worth more than others, especially those that are supported with arguments. Since the advent of the camera phone, WiFi, fiber optic cables, social networking, and the inconceivably large databases of information companies already keep on the habits of clientele and non-clientele alike, the idea of "right to privacy" in the civilized world and that CCTV is a any larger an incursion on civil liberties is not only an outdated notion, but laughably naive.

Hmm...

1.) Opinions and Facts are not the same thing. Also, it is perfectly acceptable for someone else to have a different opinion on something than you do.

2.) It's not a good thing to be totally mentally vacant in public. Sidewalks, hallways and store aisles are only so wide so it really is a good idea to at least acknowledge others exist in the world and you shouldn't walk slowly 3 abreast or park your shopping card right in the middle of the aisle.

Damn you! I was just about to write that. If you're going to be inside my head the least you could do it pay rent.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is the whole "Daddy Long Legs have the post potent venom around but their fangs are too short to pierce skin." Nope, they have no venom or fangs.

And everything mentioned here [http://theoatmeal.com/tag/grammar]. Oh, and a footer bar on your website is god damned annoying, GET RID OF IT.

I'm going to be honest here, and say that I haven't either. In my defense though, while I do like history, I've got no interest at all in the wars.

OT: Something that seems fitting for people in this thread to know, is maybe to not judge people so much, as it gives you nothing in reward apart from looking like a smug prick.

Words of wisdom:
You CAN'T catch a swinging blade in your arms with a clapping motion, no matter what Ninja movies taught you. (you would be surprised at how many people ask me if this is really possible)

The internet is dangerous.

People have forgotten who Stalin was. And simply do not care.

Hirohito was responsible for more than 40,000,000 deaths. Yes, I got that number right. Nobody cares.

The Atomic Bombs killed less than the firebombing of Tokyo.

Bombing Dresden served no strategic benefit.

Ok, ok, Most of that was about WW2. Which I think is incredibly important. So I guess I remember a lot about it. But still. I think all of that should be general knowledge.

I am in broad agreement with everything you have said. Although what saddens me the most (As a Brit) is number three.

"There is no such thing as society" - Margret Thatcher, Conservative Party.

And yet who is currently leading us? A Conservative tosspot who is trying to fuck Britain into the dark ages (And I can justify that statement)

Oh, Heres one, Specific to Britain.

As of next year, at the same time as a universal funding decrease, postgraduate (Masters, PhD) courses in the UK are rising in line with undergrad courses. And there are no loans in place for postgraduate courses. So, the general knowledge I wish people had?

IF THIS GOES THROUGH ACADEMIA ENDS WITHIN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND WE WILL BE LOSING THE FINEST MINDS OUR COUNTRY HAS TO OFFER.

And one specific to the western world.

Poverty exists in our major cities. Its not just about living in slums or being homeless. You can have running water and a computer and still be living in poverty. The government does very little to alleviate this.
A bit off topic but it's not just the UK where the education system is getting crushed by the current right wing government.
* less money to the schools
* Special needs school getting closed and blind, deaf and highly autistic children will have to go to regular schools with out extra money to prepare the schools or teachers
* no more student scholarships for master students
* Teachers salaries will be frozen but they can earn a bonus depending on how there students grade them as a teacher. (starting from the 11 year olds)
* to compensate the teachers for this they get an extra unpayed work week a year. This is considered a reward by the current government because, now teacher will have an extra week a year for there lessons, so you don't have to teach the children as much in one lesson because now you can spread it out more.

Ironically one of there spear points is supposed to be giving the Netherlands a strong knowledge economy
