I am enraged that I cannot kill children in video games. I mean they are the most annoying little buggers why cant I just take a shotgun to their heads?

Weapon degradation. It was fine in Fallout 3, where I could easily repair, but in other games (Silent Hill Origins) it was almost game breaking.
In fallout 3, the kids were incredibly annoying. Wasted ammo blasting in tehir general direction.

Weapon degeneration breaks immersion like nothing else. In oblivion the swords were made of cut out cardboard, and would shatter at the smallest punishment. And bethesda isn't the only game maker to spoil good fights with toy weapons.
The only time I get pissed at Fallout's system is when my Terrible Shotgun breaks. It has impossibly low health, and breaks after 146 shots from full health. Considering that 146 shots for me is about 20 minutes of gameplay, it gets annoying when I don't have any combat shotguns, caps or alien epoxy to fix it.
yeah this really pisses me off in fallout 3 with my victory rifle, sniper rifle, hellfire armor, and heavy incinerator. all of it degrades so quickly the immersion is the last thing in my head

First let me just say that normally I am not the sort of person who goes straight into shouting at the screen when a game buggers up. But one thing that has the ability to set me off almost straight away is the auto aim (e.g. in Prototype where the boss is two feet in front of you but apparently a helicopter on the other side of the map is a greater threat).

So my question to you lot is this: What in a game makes you rage?
BEST AVATAR I HAVE SEEN!

OT: The damn taboo noise in the world ends with you, if you're on hard and have beat as a partner, prepare to get pwnd

Definitely weapon degradation. The worst example of this was one of the resident evil games. You played civilians trying to get out of raccoon city. So I take the handy-man (plumber I think) who can create weapons. I gather plenty of pipe and with the trust duct-tape make it into a sort of blunt-spear. Not the most offensive weapon on the planet, but in certain situations it would seem to be ideal, "back foul creature of science" *bolts for door*
Basically, I wanted something to help me to survive, and the game allowed me to create it.

It broke after a few uses. I could not use the pipe to fend off the attackers that broke it. It must have 'degraded', or rather disintegrated into thousands of invisible flecks of dust. Die weapon degradation.

Mount & Blade does it quite well with shields. To block is to use them to take damage. When they take too much, they are beaten off your arm and quite useless. Does the game make you run around and get it fixed before the next battle taking up your valuable time? No, useless in the present battle, given back to you for the next. Doubtless the assumption was made that of course the mercenary blackguard would get his shield fixed, and of course the player would not want to be involved in this matter. Fucking genius.

Item degradation should only be in, if you can still use the weapon or item at reduced effectiveness after the break, i.e. beat the enemy to death with the pommel of your sword. Weapon jams however, please me greatly as they add tension (Farcry 2).

Yes, yes, and yes some more. Cheaters ruin games for everyone. Here's a screenshot of a Battlefield 2 game I played where someone thought it would be funny to crash the server by spawing dozens of vehicles from the sky:

looks like someone got the reinforcements they requested :D

Snipers.

I HATE snipers so much. I don't care that most FPS players like being snipers. Its the least skilled way to play any FPS. Try actually playing the game instead of hiding in a little hill keeping your mouse at the same spot where you know someones head will always be at regardless of how you enter.
you sir, need to stop facing typical camping drool and start facing combat snipers. i mean the kind that use's a scope at assault rifle range and fights like someone with an smg

i mean, have you seriously not met any snipers like that? thats how I snipe personally, because you tend to live longer then *snipe* *get killed by respawning player* *repeat*

I thought the weapon degradation in Oblivion was f'ing brilliant. It added an entire skill to the game, made you work to get good at it, and if you were just too dumb or lazy, you could pay someone to do it for you.

I am annoyed with not being able to kill children, but the thing that makes me rage is when I die in a FPS because I had to reload right then. Sure it's realistic but it still pisses me off.

You wouldn't like Dark Cloud much. The only way to upgrade your weapons is to use them a lot. When their durability reaches zero they break and vanish. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THEM BACK IS TO LOAD AGAIN.

Games where I have no clue about, where I have to go, what I have to do and missions under a time limit, like in Assasins Creed the Flag-Run side missions.

Insane mode on Gears of War 2. 4 shots and you're dead may be realistic and it might work in Counter-Strike where you have a whole bunch of teammates, but when all you have is a single idiot teammates and sometimes 3 idiot teammates and you get 4 shots and instantly die without crawling and there are 30 enemies on the screen at once... let me tell you, that gets frustrating. I'm at the Skorge boss battle right now and there's this part where he knocks over pillars at you. I jump out of the way right when Dom tells me to, but apparently exactly on time isn't good enough. The pillars follow you no matter where you go, even if you are jumping out of the way so a one hit insta kill is not good for blowing off steam. Even better is no one online seems to want to help me out so I can at least crawl to my teammate for help. Sorry, but I played today and it was the first time I ragequit in a long time. I swear, I almost wanted to break something because the game was being so cheap. I'm surprised how I made it to that freaking boss battle in the first place...
