All in the title. My example is back in pre-school it was raining so I sung a little song that a lot of kids my age sang to make it stop raining. Mere seconds after I sung it, it stopped raining. So my fellow escapists, what are some thins that blew your mind as a kid?

Psycho Mantis in MGS2...
It scared the SHIT outta me.
I still remember him insulting my carelessness and terrible trap evasion.
Then messing with the controller...
I shat bricks.

And now, the Escapist has an article, I read this, it's like my memories are shaping the future...
WAAAAAUGH

EDIT: Also, finding out that my parents were Santa.
Weird day that.

EDIT 2: The fact that space isn't actually empty, and there IS gravity in space, it's just 0.002% of Earth's.

what blew my mind as a kid wasn't that Santa wasn't real, but the fact every one lied to me and to every one else, i love xmas, but i despise the tradition of lying to your kids. truly its funny, even the highest branches of government play the game by 'tracking santa on there radar'. once more, your a bad guy for telling kids the truth :p because they get upset, although they shouldn't get upset cause Santa is a lie, but because they were lied to imo.

Stars always blew my mind and still do. Lava lamps too, I used to love those. Weirdly, umbrella's used to blow my mind when I was very little, the idea that they are a portable roof.

When I was in preschool I was amazed by my dad doing math. I could ask him anything that I could think of, which was limited to simple addition at that time, and he could instantly answer it.

Ha, I remember now. When I was four years old, I came home from preschool one day, screaming with glee: "MOM! MOM! Did you know there's a such a thing as chocolate milk?"

All of my four-year-old self's hopes and dreams were answered that day.

Science. Almost everyday I learn something new or something new is discovered and it blows my mind how much more science is advancing everyday.

3D Platformers.

The first time I played Mario 64 at the ripe old age of 7, it blew my mind. Banjo Kazooie, Rayman 2 and Banjo Tooie swiftly followed and all blew my mind like a million dollar hooker.

That and the Zelda games on the N64.

Come to think of it, the N64 in general melted my face, blew my mind and tightened my pants when I was a kid.

Space.
To be honest, it still does today.
This. Billion times I tried to look at the starry sky and "catch" it's end.

And the Egyptian Pyramids. That's just... incredible. I was very little when I learned about them and I still feel the same thrill.

Very true, and a fitting avatar to boot!

Here's an obscure one. When I was a kid Weeto's breakfast cereal announced they were becoming more chocolate-y and illustrated this on the box with a picture of the Professor (their mascot) turning a dial on the Weeto's making machine from Chocolate-y to Choc-apocalypse (or something similar). I felt genuinelly cheated that the option had been there on the machine all this time but only now were they cranking up the chocolate-y-ness, and that they had been holding out on us all these years. That was the day my childhood died.

When I cut my hand once my dog started licking it to try and heal it. When I saw the look of concern on her face and realised she was trying to heal me it blew my mind.
