The show Dexter, haven't heard a single person hate on that yet.
I thought it became boring once he had a kid, it went from being a show about a serial killer to a show about an average parent with an extremely annoying wife. Everything before that was awesome though.
Have you seen it lately? They changed it up a little; don't want to spoil it. Last season reminded me more of the first couple of seasons.

Tom Waits doesn't get any hate, you either love him, don't know him, or don't get him. He's not really well known amongst the general populous: or, at least he wasn't 15 years ago but he's very popular with other musicians.
He chokes my bad days.

I never hear anyone hating on Terry Pratchett either.

Final Fantasy 13 gets a ton of "love". Lots of people "love" this game. I for one love this game as well.

Trust me there are a lot of haters out there, many of them also reside here :)
I put love in quotation marks for a reason. No duh it gets a lot of hate. :p

Diablo 2.

Only people that don't like it are the ones who lost everything to it.

Did you know, heroin is based on Diablo 2? Then when the expansion pack came out they made the Jeffrey.

Indie-anythings.

I've never come across hate for an independent game, band/song or movie. They all seem remarkably praised for their artistic quality, individualism, deep personal meaning, structure, moral, intellectualism etc. etc.

Mass Effect.

I've yet to encounter anyone besides me who doesn't like that game.
Me, me! I dislike Bioware, Mass Effect especially.
... Why, exactly?
I hated ME1 for it's goddarn stupid AI, but ME2 was great.
Why Mass Effect especially? The storyline, the voice acting, the characters, the AI, the gameplay. Why Bioware as a whole? Their storylines, their voice acting, their characters, their AI and their gameplay. :D

Mass Effect just seems the biggest offender in their armoury of games to me. So far.
not trying to judge on your opinion or anything, just curious i suppose. BUT

what kind of games do you like? or companies specifically?

what games would you consider have good writing? voice acting? characters?

just curious as to your responses, not looking to flame or anything at all.

OT: the most recent one i can think of for movie would be inception..

i liked the movie a lot but just saying i haven't seen nearly any hate on it...

oh and most movies that are in the top 100 movies of all time by critics, i nearly despise every single one of those movies yet they are all critically revered as being the best at everything possible.

*Ahem*

No decent human being can say with a straight face they can hate such a face.

LOOK INTO IT'S EYES!

I'm not answering this again. Also, plenty of people have commented on their dislike of Mass Effect - go after them instead.

hmm i went through all the pages of this thread and didn't see your explanation..

and i wasn't talking about mass effect specifically, nor was i trying to attack anything you said, i was just simply curious about what you liked for voice acting/writing/characters, because those are usually the reasons why people play bioware games, yet you despise bioware for those exact reasons, thats why i was just curious, more specifically about your opinion.

Okaaaay. Bioshock, for example, I am enthralled by the story - both as told by the diaries, and the gameplay. The gameplay itself I very much enjoy, very basic idea made complex if you desire it; not to mention the moral decisions (no, the pay off was not as good as it could have been, but the game did a fair job of making you think about your actions). The AI was predictable, but certainly not frustrating, and the voice acting was superb - fitted both the genre and the era.

I also enjoy basic (non-realistic) FPSs, big fan of simulation games (becauseI'magirl), enjoy MMOs for their complex lore which you can choose to skip over if you want, you don't need to know any of it, it's just fun.

I simply do not enjoy RPGs, ME claimed to be an RPG of action and consequence, but it still, as all RPGs had a plot you were following - it just gave the illusion of choice. They play, to me, the way Choose Your Own Adventure books do. You might as well just read the pages in chronological order, because you're never going to get your own ending, you're only ever getting the ending they've chosen - but they'll let you pretend you wrote it.

okay, fair enough i suppose.

personally i didn't care for bioshock, it wasn't my kind of game, but i can see its merits.

and for your point on rpg's, have you tried bethesda rpgs? they sound more to your taking, since you dont like linear story/gameplay it seems. they rather take the opposite of the more linear approach of bioware. personally i prefer the latter over the former, but i guess i see why you hate mass effect and bioware now.

Yes, and I do not enjoy them. Again, I simply do not enjoy RPGs.

Have you seen anyone who genuinely dislikes Ocarina of Time? Not someone who's just trolling but honestly disliked the thing fairly? They're few and far between.
*Raises Hand*

That would be me sir, I'm very sorry sir, I just don't like zelda in general sir, actally I'm not big on nintendo in general sir....What's that sir? Yes sir, I'm ready for my flogging sir.
Meh its arguable since there is a general dislike and the game just falls into the category of "don't want" and I'm talking about people who hate OoT specifically but I guess this counts. Anyways, *gets out cat o' nine tails* let the beating begin.

I've actually never heard anyone say "I hate The Rolling Stones." I know that there are probably a lot of people who hate them, but I've never met one before.

Half Life 2, Bioshock, and Team Fortress 2. They're not universally liked but almost. I say almost because I hate two of them, and the other one is above average.

WHY!?!?!?!

mass effect is the greatest game ever in the history of everything! how can you not love mass effect?
.... are you serious? Well, fine if you want my answer; I didn't like it because it was boring. I played 3 hours of it and it was just way too text driven. I don't mind lots of dialog but only when it's important, engaging or fun to listen to. Mass Effect bored me to tears.
spartan231490 said:
If you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about it? And do you mean the first game or both? I personally thought the first was spectacularly average, while the second one was fairly good, but not amazing.
I'm talking about the first game. I recently bought the second... but took it back for several reasons >>

And I didn't like really anything about it. Granted, I only played a couple of hours of it, but I almost always stick with games for a while to form a good opinion of them. Mass Effect was so boring to me that I turned it off after just a few hours.

I hated the combat, the dialog was boring and while the only thing that drew me in were the graphics, everything else was subpar. Hell, I had more fun with Alpha Protocol than that.

I have never met a person who has played this game and didn't love the crap out of it.

I think that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of those bands that pretty much everyone considers at least 'okay'.

Old Spice Guy, Daft Punk, Gorillaz and House.

For very good reason however.
