Things that happened one (or five) too many times in a video game.

Ok, so for me it was in Bullet Storm, I went through the game once and noticed the fat space marine, as Yahtzee put it, fell from heights upwards of 100-200 meters around eight times during the entire story and was able to shrug it off like nothing happened and resumed slide kicking people in the groin. What are your experiences?

Whenever Crysis 2 would wheel out one of those giant walker things you had to flank with heavy weapons. I liked the game overall, but those fights were just annoying, especially since they had an EMP that could wipe out my cloak instantly.

Deadly Premonition and that raincoat mother trucker popping out of nowhere and handing me a game over screen because I decided to pick my nose instead of being mentally prepared to press B while running down a hallway.

Protip, cloack after EMP and use c4, sprint.

Uhh anything that has a grenade launcher on it in CoD.

Putting me up against heavy units (giant robots, tanks, etc) and arming me with a pistol, or enough explosive ammo.

Bosses with recharging health. Who constantly attack. Meaning you could get a little damage...but by the time it's safe to attack again it's practically healed. Thus begins hours of repetetive attack sequence watching.

Black Ops.

How many times are you going to have a short first-person sequence where I do nothing but stare at the screen and halfheartedly tap a button? Why do I only have about five or six feet between the levels' sides at any given time?
From the looks of it, not so much this year, Really what other big AAA shooters other than Battlefield and Modern Warfare are coming out?

Metro 2033. D6 level. Glowing ball-bomb things. Its only one section but took far too long. You're meant to help keep a support character alive and all he does is walk into the fucking things.

Physics fails. Hate 'em. Not glitching, just when things don't happen the way I expect 'em to.

You find a rocket launcher or bazooka, and you just know that around the next corner is a big ass armoured enemy. Medal of Honor was particularly bad at this.

Also, Bioshock. Nearly all of the missions are of the variety "Your way is blocked, go back and get three ____ or three sets of three ___ in order to proceed." Once is fine, but the whole fucking game is based on that one mission type and a few travel times in between. Don't believe me? Play through it again and see. It's bad level design, which is made up for by good story and atmosphere. Even the combat was annoying (here, use this camera to make yourself more powerful. Really, take pictures of everything, it will increase your guns power!)
Yeah, the gameplay in BioShock rather sucked. Art style and atmosphere make up for it, but still it got really tedious by the end.

CTD's in New Vegas. The game crashed way too much, it got better though. Still one of my favorite games, but christ I hate it when the game freezes/crashes. Fallout 3 was worse on that front for me, it was like every 30 minutes. It got fixed though.

Well, CoD4: Modern Warfare did this thing where you almost died once or twice (avoiding spoilers even for this old game, but then you do die once too... OMG! ><), which was fine, it kinda worked well cause it wasn't too over-done by that point. But then CoD: World at War showed up, and you "almost died" a million times in that damn games single-player... It got silly, or at least I think so. After the WaW experience I just can't take any game that does the "almost die" thing serio0usly anymore... And it annoys me, cause it's likely spoiled a bunch of good gaming moments for me.

Escort missions, they are one of the worst things in video games.

"Here, take this dumb AI who has a meagre amount of health, no ability to attack, virtually no collision detection, and loves to run ahead of you and stand in the line of fire of oncoming enemies. Good Luck!

Vehicle sections.

Nothing will ever surpass the VTOL in Crysis for sheer controller rending awfulness, but the infamous Mako of Mass Effect is doing its best to compete.

Far Cry 2: Alright, now that I've finished dicking around, I guess I'll take a contract. Oh, sweet, a car, I'll take that and I'll be at the destination in minutes! What's that? There's a car coming? Well that's annoying! (Repeat x3)
Oh hey! The guard post I cleared out about five minutes ago, I'll go restock on ammo. Oh, they respawned? Well I'll just barrel on through! Oh, they have two battle jeeps. (Repeat x3)

Real Life: Woo! Time for paintball!
OW! GODDANGIT! THAT WAS MY BUTT! YOU SHOT ME IN THE BUTT! I'M OUT! Wait, it didn't break? CRAP!

At least it's worth it in both cases, but it's still annoying.

God of War. The entire series (finished the final game last week). Not giving the player control of the camera is a sin, especially when you have that much platforming.

I'd like to back this up with something else I got sick of in Blops:

THE NUMBERS MASON GIVE. ME. THE NUMBERS!
MASON THE NUMBERS!
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN MASON!
WE KNOW YOU KNOW THE NUMBERS MASON!

I'll stop now....
