I Am Legend. It starts out great, following Will Smith as he's the last man around, creating good tension and mystery and atmosphere. Then he wakes up in some woman's kitchen and everything goes downhill. It's even worse if you've read the story it's based off and see how they just completely missed the point with the ending.

KOTOR II was close to being awesome...if only it had a full and finished main plot line. But no, thank you Lucasarts and Microsoft for pushing the game out early and ruining its brilliance.

The iPad, the mac osx would have worked so well with a tablet interface and it could have revolutionized the user input in modern laptops/tablets. But instead we got a giant iPhone, with almost all of the software limitations of the iPhone, but without the ability to fit into your pocket.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this...Mass Effect.

Considering how much I'd enjoyed Jade Empire and the fact that it was a highly reccomended game I borrowed it from a mate because I was hungry for an exciting space adventure.

When I was first playing that was the mindset I went in with which worked very well with the actual game, a cool setting, an intriguing premise, an exploratory feel and...solid combat.

Then I found that as the game wore on the feeling of this epic universe became lost as I had to trapes around samey corridors forever wondering where to go, the intriguing premise was lost when every single party member in the game was given to me within the first two hours (That's what I always enjoyed about Bioware games, much like stories such as the lord of the rings and star wars throughout the plot's course there was a regular stream of interesting, unique characters) as well as the whole "Save the galaxy from evil robots Sheperd" taking a backseat to somewhat pointless, samey side missions involving arresting politicians and deciding whether to rescue or kill some big alien whos naughty kids had been eating all the colonists. The exploratory feel became diminished as all planets and structures started looking the same just with different colour schemes and the combat felt pretty weaksauce seeing as I'd complete every anti-climactic encounter by burst-firing my gun and occasionally resorting to those special abilities.

Another, more famous example: Twilight. Because when you think of it, the romance between an ordinary girl and a bloodsucking monster who doesn't know if he loves her or her blood could make for a great book. Sadly however, it didn't.
HERETIC!

Hah... No seriously.
Thing is, it was perfectly executed as it probably was intended; fanbase being girls.
Turning the female as the main character, with a growing romance for a handsome vampire; how could it not sell?

Marvelously executed, needless to say.
It just isn't for males however.

Far Cry 2. Great engine, great graphics, great imersion, great setting. Poor choices. Malaria? Just a fucking annoying gameplay lengthener. Instantly respawning enemies? Likewise and fucking annoying. Rapidly dissolving firearms... I mean just multitudes and multitudes of stupid decisions. I think it really hit me when I was forced to do a mission to destoy a malaria cure. And there were no other options, you couldn't choose to switch to the other faction because even though it boasted choices it certainly didn't deliver. Finish it all with a completely unsatisfying conclusions an you get a mess of wasted potential.

Shadow the Hedgehog- BOY is this a sad case people. You had the following things said for a game: Morality system, choosing your own path, fleshing out the character who arguably had the only thing close to a backstory in the series, and Guns. It sounded like the best damn thing ever, but unfortunately...this was sonic team. And as we all know, nearly anything nowadays with a sonic team logo is a warning that it will be total shit. The gunplay was horrendous, aiming was non-existent and a game of luck. Making you wander why you'd want to use it, and just stick to the normal broken gameplay. Choosing your own path? Yeah, why choose a faction when they are just going to KEEP ATTACKING YOU NO MATTER IF YOU ARE SIDED WITH THEM. Fleshing out the backstory, aka. Absolutely fucking it up and completely destroying any shred of credibility the character had. Thus, linking him to the decline of the sonic game series present even more so since Sonic Adventure 2.

Oh, and also the avatar film. Had they thought the plot out more and fleshed out the characters, it would have turned a good movie, into one of the best movies of the generation.

Sonic Xtreme ( http://lostlevels.org/200403/200403-xtreme.shtml and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_X-treme ) it would've been like Super Mario Galaxy on the god-damn Genesis. In some parallel universe, this game won the bit wars for Sega.

Oi, what's your problem with Freelancer? I rather enjoyed that game, and my copy glitched out after the end mission.

*sigh* Yeah, if only they had Snake Plissken in it as the main character... (Incidently, a shout out to all the people on this site who know of this character. I am glad both of you found this comment xD)

Here's one of us! Where's the other one?

Oh, and OT: Those candy bars that are supposed to replace actual meals. If they had been as healthy as they very pointedly don't actually say out loud in the ads, it would have been awesome. Now it's just more filling and more expensive candy.

I enjoyed it too, but when it came to point where the council, or whatever were actually some ancient psychic alien... things, yeah kinda threw everything into disarray for me. I don't quite remember everything exactly, but I do remember the nomads being pretty damn stupid.
