Nice one bringing the Quake series up to date with modern technology, Raven.

Oh wait, except you turned it from a claustrophobic shit-your-pants twitch FPS to an uninspired average shooter. Any game which forces you talk walk up and down the same corridor three times can sod off.

Hancock had to potential to be badass. Then halfway through they dragged out the whole retarded story about them both having powers and
all that other crap. I just wanted to see the lazy, drunk low self esteem, dude with superpowers find his calling and become the hero he was capable of.

Y'know the DVD I have of that film actually stops working at the part we find out the woman has powers. It's awesome.

I Am Legend. It starts out great, following Will Smith as he's the last man around, creating good tension and mystery and atmosphere. Then he wakes up in some woman's kitchen and everything goes downhill. It's even worse if you've read the story it's based off and see how they just completely missed the point with the ending.
The original film based off the novel, starring Vincent Price, Is awesome.

Oh, and also the avatar film. Had they thought the plot out more and fleshed out the characters, it would have turned a good movie, into one of the best movies of the generation.
Fern Gully poops all over Avatar.
*sigh* Yeah, if only they had Snake Plissken in it as the main character... (Incidently, a shout out to all the people on this site who know of this character. I am glad both of you found this comment xD)
Here's one of us! Where's the other one?

Here I am! Btw sorry to post three in a row, I am REALLY tired and am doing the whole lazy reading thing. It won't happen again!

The recent Sonic games. Great music, definately, along with good graphics, and a concept that is unique in a platformer... relatively anyway. They just make the gameplay suck, somehow.

Mirror's Edge could have been good if they would have put more thought into the gunfighting mechanism, and given the story more consideration.

Dead Space was almost awesome or maybe, almost good.
Hits:
-The premise was ok
-it was kind of spooky (for a generic space themed thing)
-Zero G combat was pretty cool
-I actually thought the over the shoulder view and the HUD were kind of neat

Misses:
-I don't know if it was Havok or not but the physics engine was retarded. Bump into a box or a body and it flies halfway across the room
-No good set pieces, combat is all the same (OMG, watch out for that air vent!)
-A lot of your weapon choices are fairly useless
-Here's one that really got me. In later levels the enemies are re-colours of earlier enemies. Re-colours! In this day and age. How freakin lazy is that?
-Bosses aren't much of a challenge
-Plot ends up bening pretty hackneyed
-PC specific (because it's a console port), couldn't remap certain controls, mouse lag. C'mon guys we've been able to do this since 94. Shape up.

I thought this game could have been great but as it was, it didn't quite hit the mark.

I agree. I've always wondered why folks think this is such a great movie. Good? Sure. Awesome? No sir. It's a minor gripe but it's one folks, for some reason, never pick up on (maybe because I'm old). Sigourney Weaver was in a movie called "Gorillas in the Mist" where she played the EXACT same part she does in Avatar. Seriously, watch it, Gorillas in the mist isn't a bad movie. Exact same part.

Getting closer back on topic...
Rap.
I don't just mean the gangster "Slap yo' hoe and smack a trash can" Or whatever they say...
The style.
If they had more musical qualities, I really could get into it...

The Matrix Trilogy...if they didn't get all weird and pseudo-religious.

The Invention of Lying was one of the best ideas I've ever heard of, and then they fucked it up with some seriousness and religion.

Humanity could have been a good idea, if it weren't for all those religious nuts trying to impose their beliefs on everyone else.

Hmmmm...I'm sensing a theme here.
I lol'd, and completely agree. Though I think The Matrix was executed very well, and as much as I enjoyed the following iterations, they didn't quite stand as tall as their original ideas.

As for humanity... wow, did that ever fail. There definitely are the gems here and there... and there, but not nearly as many as there should be.

Duke Nukem forever......if it didnt kinda die along the way
Oh Duke Nukem! How I miss you, and wish you would make just one more appearance. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed... y'never know.

Also,

I Am Legend
Vanilla Sky (possibly, it's been a long time since I last watched it)
Avatar
S. Darko
Brutal Legend

Now that I'm trying to remember all those "Ho, hum, the concept was awesome, but the execution, not so much" movies, I can't recall a single one. -_-'

28 Days Later.

It starts off with an amazing and chilling scene of a completely desolate London... but then it becomes "just another generic zombie film, except the zombies run".

I don't really think that movie was any good besides.

Nah that's common, generally the zombies are virus crazed.
Or maybe that is just 28 days I'm thinking of...

I have to disagree with everyone who is saying the Matrix.

the Matrix is a prime example of a thing that WAS awesome, and then not. Along with most stand along movies with sequals.

I want to show my geek colours and go with Final Fantasy. It used to have amazing gameplay and story-lines but as the graphics got more and more defined the stories and gameplay started to lessen tot he point where I, a diehard fan from a young age, refused to finish it and wasn't upset when my xbox commited suicide because of it (red ringed so i couldn't play anymore).
