Things to Come

January: I will see The Mechanic, and I will probably hate it.
February: I highly doubt that I'll enjoy this Unknown more than I did the 2005 movie with the same title.
March: I can't decide which movie I'm more excited for, Sucker Punch or Paul.
April: I still cannot get over that title. I'll see it, I'll hate it, I'll forget it, in that order.
May: This is the first I've heard of Priest. I doubt I'll like it unless they go full camp and ramp up the goofiness.
June: I have been looking forward to First Class since I first read about it on IMDB not long after I saw X-Men 3.
July: Why did it take so long before someone thought to mag a big budget showdown between aliens and cowboys?
August: Fright Night is getting a remake? Good. That'll give me incentive to watch the original, a movie I've owned for about 9 months.
September: The original Straw Dogs is a movie I really want to see. Now I suddenly have a deadline to see it...
October: Well, I do love Paul W.S. Anderson more than the average bloke, so I'll give this a shot.
November: I hated Happy Feet. There's a decent chance I won't see it's sequel.
December: So far the odd-numbered Mission Impossible movies have been the good ones. Will this even-numbered M:I buck the trend?

Coincidentally, I was 12 years old for two days in 2001[footnote]for those of you who aren't good at math and don't know the Gregorian calendar, this means my 23rd birthday is tomorrow.[/footnote]. At the time I didn't know who Vin Diesel was and I was more a fan of the 'Taker and The Big Show in the WWF.

Hadn't heard Favreau walked from Iron-Man 3 yet. Good for him. You could see the Marvel vs Director struggle in IM2, what with all the shoe horning. They kept that one afloat in the end, I don't see it holding up in another installment though. Stark should do his thing in the Avengers and then let Iron-Man rest for a while. Yeah, right, fat chance... Marvel is taking the same approach with its movies as it did with its comics. It'll all come crashing down soon and then they'll have to reboot the lot.

Please prove me wrong.

Your Highness = Zooey and Natalie in a Tenth Kingdom-esque thing? What the? Why haven't I heard of this yet? Why isn't Kiera Knightley in this as well so they can complete my fave actress trifecta? Ditch the guys while you're at it. Who needs them? Then add Kate Beckinsale while you're at it. I can also see this movie failing horribly. Like Rutger Hauer's sad appearance in the above mentioned film.

Fast Five is hilarity on wheels. Its irony hopped up on dope with a hula hoop. And a load of guys who'll make this a profitable movie will entirely miss this aspect and create an entirely surreal mini-universe at each showing.

August's line-up made me laugh out loud. Dear me, does that month always get saddled with the stuff they've got left over after the real blockbusters opened in July? It reads like the list of worst stuff of the year all balled up into one month so you can just skip visiting the cinema then entirely and be done with it.

The Three Musketiers with Orlando Bloom? That's basically a remake of the Disney version then. And they'll never beat that one. "Rochefort? Isn't that a smelly kind of cheese?" "All for one and more for me!"

Men Who Hate Women (I really don't like the title Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Blomkvist is your main character and Salander is his Kato to Green Hornet style uber-sidekick, it's only in the second movie/book that Salander takes the main stage, not in the first, it changes your perspective on the movie even if you know nothing about it... Blah. Whatever.)

Definately will see:
All the super-hero stuff and Harry Potter.

anyway, back on topic, i loved the stuff going on the super hero scene, and Muppets can never be bad, looking forward for this year hits.

I'll admit my curiousity was piqued when you mentioned a Fright Night re-make. But I'm hoping to all things holy that...

1.) Michael Bay and Robert Pattinson will be kept away from the film at all times.
2.) They keep the film's setting firmly in the 80's - because the script doesn't translate well into a post 9/11 setting. (IIRC) Let's learn from the Nightmare on Elm Street debacle.
3.) Do not make it darker and gritter or lighter and fluffier as it was.

I guess what I'm ultimately trying to say is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

The main movie I'm interested in is the english version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, they can work on fixing any of the criticisms the Swedish version got (which I heard it was a great movie) and make it even better.

Be honest. You fully understand that they will take any of the northern charm and originality of the original films (1 and 3 are excellent, 2 is average) and turn it into a typical love story between two actors who don't know why they're involved.

That reminds me I've never seen the US Taxi with Queen Latifah. Oh well, good for me.

Charm? The movies are dull and without a bit of emotion. Lisbeth is one feminist caricature and the story is incredibly weak. I really wished Fincher was doing something else than this dreck. BTW when the hell has Fincher done a typical love story? And one involving serial killers? You serious?

The original film turned me off from this movie it was so bad. Zallian is adapting straight from the book though and not the first film.

I'm super pumped about the Cap movie. The leader of the Avengers finally gets on the big screen? Count me in.

Also, Sucker Punch looks good!

I think Beastly may be surprisingly good. It a beauty and the beasty story retold and if done correctly, I think it could be one of the better movies of the year.

I think there's a few more movies that Bob didn't mention that could be good, but my memory's shot right now.
