I'm sure I'll think of over 9000 of these as soon as I post but for now I'll go with "god works in mysterious ways"
Icwutudidthar.

OT: Icwutudidthar.

Also, anyone who starts a statement with "I won't lie."
A) You will.
B) If you mean right now, chances are you're not gonna tell us if you are gonna lie - so the phrase is superfluous.

Godwin's Law. It's gotta say something if a cliche's identifier has become cliche itself. And it's annoying that it has become a magic bullet toward any justified parallel to fascism (and they're out there) as well as the frivolous. I find a good workaround is to use the Confederacy as a comparison - with the bonus effect that true jerkasses will proudly admit it.

(Man, these are like potato chips.)

Finally, anyone who refers to themselves as nuts. Saying "I'm so crazy!" or the like is one of the most sane, standard, normal, stock, boring things a person can say. The insane (or even the eccentric) rarely own up - you tend to just know...

People who use the phrase "it is what it is".

Thanks for wasting my time and adding absolutely nothing to the conversation, jackass.

Especially heinous is when professional coaches use it to describe a loss or a poor performance. I swear, sometimes it seems like every single one of them uses "it is what it is" in his press conference afterward...for God's sake, just say "we sucked" or "I blew it". That's all anyone thinks when you say that crap anyway.

Errrr... Really? So you're fine if I go get some slaves?

Also, I'm sick of hearing of how good Twilight, Modern Warfare 2, the Halo series etc are.

I'm sick of exactly the opposite. I find people ***** an unwarranted amount about them.
Only if they're the sexy kind of slaves.

Frankly, I don't want to be the attention whore who derails the thread into some kind of a pointless pseudo-autobiography... Send tells if you want to know something.

More on topic, I hate hearing shit like "Twilight vampires aren't real vampires! oh noes! They've completely corrupted mah badass 2 dimensional vampires~"
...who are in reality as fake as Twilight vampires because there's no single established vampire archetype across all cultures aside from general association with blood, usually blood sucking and some supernatural abilities and Dracula is no different from Edward...

Arguments that make dubious claims about how only one archetype for some fictional creature is "the right" archetype. Sure, some things are generally associated with various fantasy creatures and races, usually something that can be reduced to 1 or 2 attributes, but trying to make everything a carbon copy of fucking Lord of The Rings/Dracula/Whatever the fuck you want is stupid, annoying, and I hate it.

Dwarves - short. That's it. Because dwarfs in all cultures are dwarfs, the word dwarf can be used to refer to a short person. You can't have a giant dwarf, unless he's a special case (Cough Carrot cough) because if there's a whole race of dwarfs taller then you, they aren't dwarfs to you. Some 2 inch pixies have no reason to call dwarfs dwarfs in their own language. They'd be more like "giants".

Vampires - blood drinking or any other semi-parasitical lifestyle. Because there are "psychic vampires", apparently. Not that I mind. But emphasis on predatory lifestyle that involves some kind of semi-vital parts of others.

And so on.
this is true to a point, but there is a limit. you can mess around with the vampire (werewolf, zombie, etc) if you like but there ARE certain things that have to be in place. sparkle in the sunlight and reading minds just crosses a line for me. i'm pretty sure a lot of people would agree.

(at the VERY least, make the vampires badass, not whiny teenagers. teenagers fair enough, but not whiny pale objects of desire and angst)

Why? In hands of a good writer, even the Twilight characters could provide a very interesting story. If they were any good.

What constitutes "badass" for you doesn't necessarily work for others. It pisses me off to see vampires shown as 2 dimensional "badasses" they do in most movies. Frankly the basic vampire qualities can provide for some very good drama and end up in very emo vampires. And there is nothing wrong with that, it's better then having some fucking Dracula clones and that annoying anime vampire with guns. Fuck him.

He's an amusing character, based on the 2 episodes I've seen, but he should hardly be considered the archetype for vampires.

I think vampires should be explored as characters from more emotional side. They're practically humans being stuck in the same age they were bitten in, forced to live a secretive and parasitic lifestyle. Even Edward from Twilight could be turned into a great dramatic character by a good writer, and still fit in the romance genre (which I don't have much respect for given the quality of many books).

I mean, it's a fucking 16 (or what's his age?) year old teenager stuck like that for eternity, and at the time of the book for like a century, I believe. Just that enough can be turned into so much awesome dramatic material.

Instead, of course, it ends up a shoddy book.

"The graphics look better in ____" I've heard that about a couple of games on different sites. Fans for one game can't even see that the graphics are the same or better in a rival game made by a different company. Also, who cares?

I'm tired of hearing people flame micheal bay. It's like really tiring to hear people do that all the time. Even movie bob does it. Actually movie bob is the worst because he inserts him just to insult him for the sake of it which is ungentlemanly conduct.
Michael Bay gave us a close up of devastators balls. I'll ring a bell when he has been flamed enough.
That really wasn't that bad dude I've seen worse throwaway gags for more dignified shows.

I hate people using the phrase "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction."
They're only doing it to TRY to sound smart, and it doesn't mean what they think it means. It's normally used in the context of "there was this opposite thing" and sometimes people justify something having an opposite with this rule.
Especially if they're actually trying to explain something to do with physics. Normal force IS NOT newton's third law.

Basically, it just pisses me off that so many people try to use it to explain things in a way that is out of context, or just completely wrong.

"Anime is just cartoons."

Ok, this one really gets to me. Sure, anime might be like cartoons, but it's not cartoons! There's a big difference between the gear audiences too. Surely, you wouldn't define Elfen Lied as a "cartoon," would you?

Also, people who are dead set that their opinion is right, just the idea in general. It always gets under my skin when people start throwing insults around just because your opinion is different. I'm all for a civil debate about something, but not when it boils down to the other person calling my opinion "stupid." That makes NO sense whatsoever.

"It's always in the last place you look."
Well, of course, it is! You're not gonna keep looking for it after you find it.

Avatar has some of the dumbest fans I have ever encountered*. Also, based on the ones I've talked to, most of them seem to share the same two brains.

"Avatar! That was such a great movie!"
"I thought it was pretty mediocre. It pretty much just tried to hide its flaws with special effects that will be outdated in a couple of years."
"You didn't like Avatar?!?! What are you, a complete dumbass?! That was the best movie ever!"

"Avatar! That was such a great movie!"
"I thought it was pretty mediocre. It pretty much just tried to hide its flaws with special effects that will be outdated in a couple of years."
"Yeah, that is pretty true. I thought the writing and story and characters and stuff were pretty bad, and all I really liked were the effects. Still a great movie, though."

NO! You CANNOT claim that a movie is still good while acknowledging that! Movies don't work that way!

And since I'm ranting about Avatar fans: No! Avatar did not revolutionize movies! It used the same technology pretty much every movie has been using, but with an absurdly big budget! It changed nothing! And stop comparing it to other better, sci-fi films and making blatantly false claims about them!" The next person to say "Well, Star Wars wasn't original at all, so shut up!" is liable to be stabbed.

Yeah, Avatar is pretty annoyingly popular where I live.

*Twi-hards are still slightly worse, though.

"So what game are you looking forward to?"
Honestly? none. Quit goddamn asking me. I'm probably gonna spend more time on Kongregate.com than on the next 100 hot releases combined. Why? because if I'm gonna be trudging through sewage looking for diamonds, I don't want to pay for the experience.

"Have you seen [enter new release movie here] yet?"
No. And I'm not going to. I fucking hate cinema. If I can watch it for free while drunk, then sure, I'll watch it. But I'm not paying for that shit and I better not be sober if it sucks.

To be fair, Anime is just cartoons. However, it is just cartoons from Japan, which has different standards for what cartoons are. In general, western shows prefer a more solid grounding in reality before introducing absurdities, while anime doesn't necessarily have that limitation (I'm no judge on what the Japanese consider normal). This leads to a culturally significant difference in writing and direction, but they're still cartoons. (note: at no point to I consider a show being a cartoon to be a bad thing. There are many more cartoons I like than live action).

As for the opinions thing, I've started saying to people "what is wrong with your brain that you can't comprehend that people think differently? are you that stupid?" when they say my opinion is invalid, my likes wrong, whatever. No pure opinion is more valid than any other; if people can't accept your opinion or call you stupid because your opinion is different, you have every right to tell them off about it.

People talking about piracy as if they know everything about it, and as if their opinion is the correct one without possibility for debate. Illegal does not equal immoral(I literally mean that they are not synonyms) meaning it's a debate of morality/ethics. Ergo it is open to debate and the "right" thing to do is decided only by a majority.

So there's that rant...

Next on the list:

People who insult people who write on blogs with comments like "ur so emo why dont u go cry about it on ur blog lolol" I get this kind of thing a lot, funny part is nobody bothers to figure out what the hell I'm actually talking about on my blog.

This one is more obvious but...climate change debates. I just don't care, is that so hard to accept? I'm going to die before humans are extinct and I don't give a damn what happens to the rock we're all living on after I'm gone.

The phrase "support the troops" being accepted as a moral imperative. I have opinions on the military, they are not positive but I have my right to them and I refuse to support an organization that directly conflicts with my morals.

People blaming the internet/ social media/ technology etc for the lack of social skill present in the younger generations. People won't stop complaining that my generation and those after it are useless to society or that they will never be able to survive on their own or something of the sort, and they shamelessly blame something they understand little about every time it comes up.

I've got lots, lots more but I'll leave it at that for now.

<color=red>Warning: Wall of text inbound.

"Video games cause violence." Multiple studies have proven that video games significantly REDUCE violence. I've been playing games since I was 8, including a copy of Dark Sector I bought from store shelves which is supposed to be refused classification in this country, and I'm fine. Anyone who says anything along the lines of the quoted statement instantly earns a fist to the face.

"Emo". The word, generally. In one way or another, I used to hear this word every day for the last two years of Secondary School. Same with the word "*****". I know someone who uses this word in almost every one of his sentences and it makes me cringe every time I hear it now.

Religion. Now before you yell at me, I'm fine with other people's beliefs. Just don't fucking shove it down other people's throats and we'll get along fine.

"Gay" or "Fag" used as a derogatory comment. When did this become the norm? I want to rip out the voice box of whoever thought this was a good idea.

The phrase "I could care less". If you say this, that means you care. If you care, there are plenty of other ways you can phrase it without sounding like an idiot.

People complain about anything popular just to sound cool. If someone says they don't like something and gives a logical reasoning as to why, then okay. But if you're like someone I know who hates Halo and calls it "Gaylo" because you can't play it to save your life, then I reserve the right to break off one of your arms.

A fucking shitload of "xX"s or numbers or "MLG" bullshit in your username.

People who blindly follow and listen to the professional reviewers/Yahtzee like sheep. Yes, let's depend on one person who gets paid to voice his opinion on games as our own. I guess that's why I enjoyed God Hand, Sonic Riders, Turok, Alone in the Dark and Vampire Rain so much then?

"That's what she said." Hate it.

Hearing about Twilight/Avatar/whatever new movie constantly. Okay, we get it, it's popular. Not all of us have seen it and not everyone that has loves it to death and want to be subjected to hearing about it every ten minutes.

"Where did I put it?"
"It's always in the last place you left it"
"...Of course it is, why the hell would I keep looking for it after I found it?!" Plus, even if you didn't say that, there isn't much you can be doing that restricts you from getting off your arse and help me look.

"This game's graphics/storyline/other unimportant element is shit so the game is shit." Yeah, I guess that's why Painkiller, Left 4 Dead and Perfect Dark are the worst games ever?

"Mouse and keyboard/controller is better than controller/mouse and keyboard." Because EVERYBODY is better with whatever control type you're comfortable with.

Whew...

In the terms of video games, "Remake ff7"

Look people, FF7 was good, the graphics outside of battle looked like cardboard cosplay, but still, we dont need a remake, it can only make it crap.

In Real Life, "You know that food is unhealth"

"Then you dont eat it, im happy with my burger asshat."
