Anime: I used to watch 4 or 5 shows a season. Then I noticed that very few anime are original or attempt to do more than pander to the male base with moe characters, gratuitous fanservice and recycled plot points and character tropes: character A likes character B but can't simply talk to character B to covey feelings, Male character is the most bland/indecisive/reluctantly important person who's also the focus of affection to a literal harem of girls, and the more recently disturbing trend of main character's sibling/first cousin wants MC's love so bad that it's implied and in some instances shown the character masturbates thinking of MC. It just became a matter of not wanting to sift through the crap to find the nuggets of gold.
I used to like anime a lot, but I haven't been able to sit through more than a few episodes before giving up completely. Hell, I could say the same about every TV show that I watch on websites like Netflix or Crunchyroll. Every time I want to, I just think to myself "But it's so much work to click around for 30 seconds and pay attention for 30 minutes at most" and that sucks. I think that I've also outgrown most books that I've read in the past. I'm a lot more critical than I used to be, and now I can, without hesitation, point out several flaws with a story that I perceive to interfere with my enjoyment. Lastly, I've stopped thinking nothing but positive thoughts about everything, and I feel that this is the only thing that I truly regret. I don't like negative people, and becoming one just doesn't sound like fun.
Flemish/Belgian and Dutch are very similar yes. Though large parts also speak french there. I don't know about American mayonaise though so I can't say anything about that. I do think that I once saw an american trying dutch french fries and once he tasted it here he could understand why we put it on fries. Also, I don't think we put it on everything. At least most people I know don't. Just french fries, sometimes with a few potato dishes, and on sandwiches. We also mix it with curry or ketchup for french fries.Ironman126 said:

So, as an American, I am legally obligated to use hyperbole whenever I am referring to the customs, traditions, or food of anyone that is, from the American perspective, a foreigner. I know mayonnaise doesn't get put on everything, that would be pretty weird, though I did imagine that it was for more than just fries. Regardless, this has been a fascinating conversation. I so rarely get the chance to talk to anyone who isn't American.
As much as I love going to conventions and making cosplays, the thing about conventions I don't do much any more is buy merchandise. I think I had a budget of around 80$ at a convention for food and some art prints of LoL characters at Anime Detour this year. And I think I had the highest amount of expendable income among the cosplay club. Others had saved up money from blood and plasma donations totaling around 200$ or more. I tried buying figurines or posters but they didn't seem worth it. I know this sounds cheesy but, I go to conventions primarily to hang out with a bunch of friends in costumes. The friendship I get out of going to a convention is much better than what I spend for material possessions.

Music.
I used to play bass in bands which was fun but I found myself being worn down by weekend rock stars with hyper inflated egos that cared more about their spikey hair and overall image, than actually turning up for practice and you know, actually making some songs.
The last straw was when I went to audition for this rock band. I had a bad feeling about it from the start, i'm not sure why, I consider myself pretty accepting of people but something in my gut told me that this wasn't gunna work out.
Anyhow, I auditioned and found the drummer to be a likeable guy but the rest of the band were really stuck up and I felt I was being scrutinised and judged for my appearance rather than my bass playing abilities.
The main guitarist and singer asked me what music do I like?
I replied that i'm into everything but currently I was listening to the strokes, and just the way the guy's face twisted in disgust at that made me think 'ah to hell with this'
prior to that I had resigned from a band where we were all close friends due to work reasons. My so called friends took it so badly that they ignored me from that day onwards which really hurt because I don't feel like I did anything wrong.
so losing my friends and becoming fed up with wannabe rock stars eventually caused me to hang up the old bass gee-tar for good and I eventually sold my music stuff when I moved to America.
I don't really listen to music much anymore either.

Ooon topic...quite a bit now. Gaming has felt joyless lately, it isn't even like i put much time into it anymore. Quite a few activities have lost their sparkle. Best to concentrate on creativity for now.
Sherry. I probably had too much in younger days and now it tastes too sweet and sickly.
Bill Bailey. He is still kinda funny, but he tends to recycle some gags in new shows a little more than i can comfortably dismiss. Still one of the best music comedians around though. But i don't feel any desire to see his latest shows unfortunately.

Family guy. South Park. Though at least south park still has visible effort put into it, they don't particularly bring as much laughter as i remember. Family guy was a brief novelty that never knows when to quit. American Dad is the better series by far.
Sweeties and chocolate. I am savoury man now. Gimme cheese and wine please!
Cartwheels and juggling. Weirdly not as fun anymore. Is gravity taking its' toll?
The type of metal and high speed guitar solo music with no soul, only speed. If you're going to do a solo, make it stand out...make it powerful or emotional, not dick waving speed competitions. Else it loses identity and sounds bland and repetitive.
Driving simulators. Once you played one...
Male friends. I seem to have either bad luck or an attraction to assholes. But there hasn't been one who hasn't tried to screw me over so far. I maintain a healthy distance for now. Maybe the future will bring more trustworthy people.
Horror films. Ehhh, it seems the only good ones now are those that are metaphors for various life lessons. To feel actual fear in a film, seems no more than a pipe dream currently.

Learning that the one game I was the most excited to compete in was chock full of cheaters (Not to mention, we had to ban a few of the mod creators from our servers) basically made me thing, "Wow. This is really fucking toxic." I'll go against you. But I will never sign up for a "team." to try and become a "pro gamer."
Programming. It's cool, but I'm out of practice. I'm tired of that shit. I wanted to be a game developer, but looking in the industry and where I live has made me believe that I either work worse hours than what I'm working now. (48hr weeks, 12hr shifts.) or I have a job at Wendy's to supplement my pay.

Yeah...I hear you. I was the singer/guitarist in a band that played our local scene in the late 90's and early oughts. Our band dynamic was good and we had day jobs. So we just enjoyed playing. But I couldn't stand debasing myself for the club owners. Each one of them was the Little Lord of his own kingdom. We finally hung it up when some asshole told us we should become an 80's metal cover band because "that's where the money is".
His club went belly up shortly thereafter, along with our whole local scene.
But I still enjoyed playing, so I started a little e-session musician business and just do a lot of freelance desktop recording nowadays.
Point is, if you still enjoy making music, there are plenty other ways to get out there without dealing with that grind.
Sounds like you're pretty soured on it, though. Can't say I don't blame you.
But it's a shame. The world needs good musicians.

My wife used to be a people quitter. When certain lines are crossed, she used to just cut them out. I never could wrap my head around that attitude. I get it when people drift apart. But when you have history, it seems a little...final.
PvP / Competitive Gaming:
There was a time, when i loved PvP etc. FPS, MMO, racing games, some competitive puzzle games... heck, even the Open World PvP in Warhammer Online. Always outnumbered by the hordes of chaos, but dang was it fun to defend a Castle for hours against them. Good times, good times *sigh* but now i just can't give a damn about PvP anymore. Mostly because of how toxic it got in some games... from your OWN Team!

Red vs Blue - There's more Red vs Blue after the fifth season?! Yeah, maybe it's just me or maybe it's because I first watched it two or so years ago but after season 5 I just couldn't stand RvB. I still like the first 5 seasons but like with Family Guy, I got burned out on the good episodes (unlike Family Guy I can at least admit that the later episodes aren't unwatchable)
Cereal - The go-to cereal I used to enjoy as a kid is something I just don't like anymore. Then again, I was a spoiled 90's kid. I can enjoy some Reese's Puffs and Krave every so often but I grew up on amazing cereals like Rice Krispy Treats, Pop-Tart Crunch, Pooh's Honey Cereal, Teddy Grahams Breakfast Grahams, Hidden Treasures and, Sprinkle Spangles.

Partially agreeing with you. As a kid I used to watch every horror film that would come from tv. Old ones, new ones, good ones, bad ones, I loved all of them. Nowadays, I've just lost interest in the whole genre.Xsjadoblayde said:

Violent scenes, just to shock me, bore me. I much prefer frightening ideas rather than visuals. The Thing, The Shining, Rosemary's Baby (that rape scene, shivers), Nosferatu, Metropolis, The Howling, Witches of Eastwick, Island of Lost Souls, movies like these are no longer being made. They weren't all horror films or even that scary, but all of them had something very unnerving.
