Things you just don't "get".

Pretty simple, what things can't you understand?

Y'know what I don't get? Strip clubs. So...you pay somebody to arouse you, and then...what? I mean, you're in public, goes without saying that you can't just "relieve" yourself in front of the stripper. Aside from it being illegal, that's just inconsiderate. It's pretty much porn, in real life, and you can't release that built up sexual energy in any way.

The only partway believable reason would be to increase your own sexual agressiveness in going out to try and "pull". Which really only raises the chances of being seen as desperate, and the stakes should you fail, because after beginning a night with a strip club and ending with masses of rejection, your balls would surely be more blue than papa smurf.

...

Reading that back, I realise just how out of touch with normal social function I am.

I'm with you on the strip club front.

Paying money for blue balls? Yeah, pass on that one.

I just don't 'get' smoking.

I mean, you know the risks, you know they're addictive, you know they're expensive, so why do it?

'It relieves stress'. Well, no. Smoking relieves the withdrawel symptoms of smoking.

Both my parents smoke, yet they used to lecture me on 'wasting money' on video games.

After I pointed that out, they haven't said anything since :D

I don't understand why people are so fucking obsessed with celebrities. I get the whole thing of fantasizing being them or having what they have, but I mean going to the point where we basically idolize them; we hold them to a higher pedestal than normal, non-famous people. Because Justin Bieber or Nicki Minaj did this or that, it gets blown up to high proportions. It's as if we forget that these are still people, and people do dumb shit sometimes.

I get when someone who's supposed to be a legitimate role model does something messed up to perhaps blow it up, or if there's some sort of irony to poke fun at them about (i.e. anti-gay pastors who turn out to be gay), but for the most part the stuff that we talk about celebrities is downright idiotic.

And don't get me started on TMZ; these are guys who could easily take their "talent" and use it for real journalism, but because there's big bucks in reporting on the fact that Michael C. Hall didn't talk to them, or Lindsay Lohan was spotted eating a hot dog.

I don't get people who can't distinguish between a good story teller and a good writer. For example, the Harry Potter books are a good story, Rowling is a mediocre writer. This works for other things too, such as people saying that Bob Dylan is one of the best singers ever, even though he's tone deaf (what he is is one of the best songwriters ever).
Basically people who think that people are great at everything because they are good at one thing...

I don't get MONEY. I never, ever, get any money :'(
On topic: I don't get fanboys. It really annoys me when people say 'just buy a PC' when people complain about issues with consoles. In the wake of PS4, this has happened loads with people saying things like 'I don't understand why people don't buy a PC' or 'just like a PC... a year ago'
It also annoys me when sony/microsoft fanboys attack the other console. Happens more with casual gamers, but it still happens and it annoys me. I don't understand it.
Even if you don't own the other console, surely you can see the advantages and disadvantages of it? I'm a sony guy myself but I can see that XBOX has more solid support from devs and PC has better graphics and mods.

Status symbolism. At best things are several orders of magnitude more pricey than a completely solid thing with the same practical value, at worse they're nothing but overpriced paperweights.

Being a shameless pragmatist, that stuff...oh, for cryin' our loud, just take it away, Lrrr...

that and unlike other drugs the negatives seem to far outweigh any positives there might be...

partly related but I dont get blind loyaly to a [/i]brand[/i] of all things, regardless of what may or may not actually be better...its one thing is a brand consistantly serves you well, but there comes a point where its just pointless

so in that regard...fucking apple products, I mean sure I get it that apple has some industry standard programs (mainly final cut pro) but aside from that WHAT THE FLYING FUCK is so god like awsome about these machines that you pay so much for them? you cant play half the games!

[i/]"its more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy"[/i]<- NO...screw you steve jobs! your not a fucking pirate...you built your own imperial empire!

Clubbing. I do not understand the appeal of clubbing. I do not enjoy it at all. Way too loud and crowded and expensive and full of dickheads.

No fucking kidding. Not to mention some of the weird ways that we have to show status symbols... Okay, for example: in Russia, there's an armored vehicle company that makes armored trucks. Inside, they have all of the luxury amenities that your average one-percenter views as standard features: Leather seats, top-notch sound system, extremely wasteful gasoline engine, etc. But you know that they use for that leather upholstery? Whale foreskins. I am not kidding. The company is Dartz Prombron. Google that shit if you want proof. That's what we do in the name of status symbolism: we cut off the dicks off of whales and use them for seat upholstery. We're a shitty species, that's for sure.

*Sitting on a chair made from whale foreskins in a nightclub with strippers while drinking, smoking, and using an iphone.....hmm, some of you need to lighten up a little. Everyone has their little guilty pleasures.

Something I do not get, well, I do not get how stuff that is not real can seem to be real. For example, I had a dream about my teeth falling out then spent the whole day with my mouth clenched because I could still feel them slipping away from my gums. Surely, stuff in the head should stay in the head.

Students here also struggle with basic cleanliness in other ways. They seem to actively enjoy making public restroom stalls as filthy as possible. Neglecting to flush is a gold standard student behavior, but most go beyond that, leaving a huge pile of wet toilet paper that overflows the toilet and spills onto the ground.
You think that's bad? I worked at WalMart on the Night of the Modern Warfare 3 launch back then. All of the bathrooms were overflowing with piss, shit, and wet toilet paper by midnight. It's like they take pride in making employees' jobs more shitty than they already are.

I think a lot of them do. Bored 12 year olds will do that just to piss people off.

Anyway, add another one for stripclubs. If I want to look at sexy things and get aroused, I'll do so in private thank you very much.

Y'know I don't *get* alcohol in general. You're seriously telling me to drink something that dehydrates you, makes you ill, makes you look and act like a complete twat and generally lowers your IQ for awhile? How about no?

I mean I don't even like the taste of any alcohols but that's beside the point.

Oh yeah and stripclubs, but that's pretty obvious right? I don't even think the UK has many at all. Also throw me down on the concept of "pulling." You know if I was ever going to go for a spr srs relationship with a female member of the species I would actually like the whole long term "bonding" thing, maybe even some "romance" if I was feeling particularly insane.

Though why I would ever go that far with someone I will never know. Near crippling fear of intimacy will do that to you I suppose :3

Nope, one night, a few hours then random sex. I mean really? Really? How tasteless, desperate, cheap and all those other unpleasant words can you be?

I think you mean animals should fuck animals and humans should fuck humans end of. The way you put it sounds kind of disturbing XD

HEY! Diversity is important! Important to even the survival of our entire species! Furries are obviously simply an extention of that and should be embraced! :3

Smoking. I?ve tried it about three times, and each time, it made my throat sting and I coughed up a load of spit. My smoker friend told me something about you breaking past the wall and eventually getting used to it, but I don?t see why anyone would want to waste time breaking past some wall just to get a brief high that might not even be worth however much you?re paying to slowly kill yourself. (Not that I condemn smoking, though. Everyone has their self-destructive habits.)

Being too lazy to put down the toilet seat after pissing/pooing. Maybe it?s because it just comes so naturally to me (as well as my OCD), but it?s, like, you do your business, you remember to flush, you remember to wash your hands?but the one thing you can?t do is put down the toilet seat? DOESN?T EVEN MAKE SENSE!

Gardening as a hobby. I just find it so boring.

I agree with OP and strip clubs. Seems like a huge waste of money to me and not in the way that buying a million pairs of shoes or, video games would be a waste of money: at least you have something to show for the last two examples.

---

I would be lying if I said I don't understand drinking or smoking or recreational drug use but a part of me doesn't understand how people can basically envelop themselves in those three vices to the point that they aren't even a part of the real world anymore. So I guess I can say I don't understand addiction and how it happens. I suppose it's one of those gradual things that you don't realize is happening until you're already fucked.

I don't get the appeal of looking in on the personal lives of celebrities. Tangentially related: I don't understand why celebrities get a slap-on-the wrist for crimes when a normal, every-day person would get jailed or worse for committing similar crimes or even lesser crimes in some cases.

Somethig I never "got" is the concept of marrige. This may be just me, but I just don't understand it, getting 2 rings and a peice of paper to say that you love eachother. Also it can be really expensive, and then if you break up it can be very messy. So ye, marrige, I don't get it.
