Some of the most random things... My parents have actually accepted me being a gamer (both of them are somewhat gamers themselves).

When I'm playing an RPG - "Are you winning?" They think this is hilarious for some reason.
When I'm playing a sequel - "Oh, you're still playing that? We've gotten 'Insert Name here' 'insert one number higher than currently availible'." This was brought about by me correcting my dad when he mixed up Fallout 3 and Farcry 2 as Farcry 3. I'm never going to correct them again.
When I'm playing a shooter - "Careful... Careful... Man, you suck at this." I once pulled something like this with them as they tried to manuever around my car in the driveway.
When I'm playing something ultraviolent - "Way to defy the stereotype." ... I'm fiercily against videogames causing violence, and they know it.
When I'm playing something old - "Is that... the PS1? Wow, the Wii has better graphics." This got to me for some reason.
When the others don't really apply - "So what are you playing?"

There were some very good other ones that came up "How is she able to stand upright?" "Why can't you just shoot him? You're carrying a gun." (Puzzle solving 101 as told by my dad. I was ashamed that I didn't think of this) "And you can hold all of that how?" "Did you just shoot down a helicopter, run through a hail of bullets, and fight off a giant crab (this is just a genericized version)? Why are you not impressed by that?!"

My dad often makes comments when he comes into my room and I'm playing a game, usually along the lines of "What game is that?" or "Are you winning?" (even if "winning" isn't really applicable to the game in question).

Oh, and on one occasion, when he walked in just as I headshot a raider in Fallout 3 using VATS, causing his head to seperate from his body and fly through the air and land several meters away:

"Cool!"

My dad never really got into games since he's more into writing music & building models. He is really into pinball though.

My mom however, plays Tetris, Tetris 2, Doctor Mario and other puzzle games for at least a half-hour each night.

EDIT for additional info.

My dad still plays video games so he doesn't say anything, I still play games with him but my parents are divorced. My mom always tells me to stop spending money on those dumb video games or you're to old to be playing those. She also calls every game counsel a Nintendo....lol

Oh, to add something else:

I went on a blind date with a guy when I was seventeen. He was really awesome, worked at forging swords and the like and made me a copy of Sting from LotR. His other gift to me was a copy of Morrowind; without cover, without box, just the disk.

Remember this now: I WAS SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD, and ALL my mother had to go on was THE ART ON THE DISK. No cover art, no nothing. Just the disk.

"I don't know if we ought to let you play that."

"Did you bring Nazi Zombies?"

"No, dad. Sorry"

"Oh... I'll be in the garage having a smoke and a beer."
I feel bad for your Dad, he probably looks forward to it.

Actually have pretty deep conversation about games design with my Mum. Get some good ideas from her knowledgeable-outsider's perspective.

But her boyfriend always asks me "Are you winning?" ... which is difficult to answer cause I mostly play single player. Can you be said to be winning if you are merely progressing through the story?
Oh god. My mom's stupid boyfriend always asks, "Are you winning?!". I'm either playing GTA Multiplayer, in which case there is no winning. Or attempt to explain that I'm playing an objective gametype, and I don't know yet.

Then they always reply with, "Oh. So your losing."

For me, it's usually a variation on "That's a bit violent, isn't it?", or "Make sure your brother doesn't hear that foul language."

They don't say anything, they're okay with my gaming. They know I can take my own responsibility (which I actually can't).
My parents do this. Really awesome of them.

My parents actually supported my habit, because I always planned on becoming a game designer, and now I am doing it.
Is it worth it?
Is what worth it? Having cool parents? Or going to college for game design? Or designing games?

Yes, for me. But you really need to think, research, and find out what it is like before you decide upon it as a career choice. Quite a bit of it is incredibly tedious work.

"Strange Revision that is Jack."

Calumon: Jeri never had a game and Jack usually just watches me as I play whilst sitting on his lap. It's fun!

My parents used to say that. To be honest I don't think they care less, as long as I don't turn into a gelatinous blob. Though, I do get "amusing" remarks, such as "Haven't you completed it yet?" when playing a Sandbox or MMO.

I often get the "that's nice dear" treatment when I talk about upcoming releases.

Whenever my dad sees me playing a game (and sometimes, even when I'm not), he says, "Still playing more of them 'Shoot em ups'?". No matter the game. He asked that when I was playing Sam and Max, even.
It has a gun!

OT: Me and my dad used to play Gex. A LONG TIME AGO. On that PS1 thingy.

Now, they just tell me to do my homework. They don't mind my games too much.

Mum: "Are you going to play that all day?"
Me: "Only 8 hours of it"
Mum: "Should be past the 7th Colossus by then"
Me: "Wha..."
Mum: "Nothing" (Walks away)

To this day I never got the full story. Still I got to 9th instead :p
