I don't know, changing Aerith's character to be more like Barrett seems like a sure fire way to up the cheese. Or maybe she's supposed to be Cid. If she says a curse word every other two or three words, she's Cid. If she just curses every sentence she's Barrett.

I'm guessing the walking away from the explosion means she has a little bit of Vincent?

FFVIIRemake tagline: "Aerith has stared into the face of death and now she's been remade pissed!"

As long as they don't mess up recreating the overall structure of the game and make Cloud equal to the mopey little shit he's depicted as in a number of parodies( aka Hope from FFXIII) then I won't be too bothered by it. All I want is my working Chocobo racing and finally figuring out that one random minigame in Golden Saucer.

But, but the horribly broken Chocobo racing is the best! When you get a chocobo that can run through the slow sections without effect all you have to do is hold down all four shoulder buttons and win!

This is the problem with remakes, too much reminiscing. Unless the new version is spectacular, it will almost always flop.

Two remakes that stand out for me are Sid Meier's Pirates and Sid Meier's Railroads (remake of Railroad Tycoon). Pirates was excellant and I spent more time playing it than I did with the original. Railroads on the other hand didn't live up to my fond memories of the original.

This has got me wondering, if they are going to be remaking FF7 and presumably add all sorts of BS it didn't have before...

Does that mean there will be a secret quest to resurrect Aeris? :D Finally after years of rumors and gossip (this was in the internet's infancy so this gaming myth was really popular back in the day). I mean if they are gonna toss in new stuff, might as well go all fanservicey.

I'm just thinking, as awkward and uncomfortable the Honey Bee Inn section of the story was in Polygons...

Let's just say, a realistic, HD version would seriously jeopardize the T rating.

I hope they keep the glitch that makes the image of Aeris appear for a split second when you re-enter the church! Totes legit for realsies...

(I also hope they keep the English versions as 'Aeris' too... as that is how I grew up with it, and that is how it should remain! :p)

I'm not opposed.

OT funny comic, but all I have to say it's still too damn early to judge this remake as being shit.

In this version Cloud is killed by Sephiroth. It'll causes a different fandom reaction where a bunch of MRAs & Feminists will then turn the whole remake into a PC issue. This will then soon be followed by a Lightning skin for Aeris.

And that's good, but not everyone has the same fetish. It's going to be really uncomfortable for a significant number of players if they make remake is faithful to the original.

Well apparently Nomura himself said to please look forward to Cloud in a dress, so we might be safe from too much alteration.

...no.

Please, please for the love of god, fix that shit.

And honestly, as much as I loved FFVII, there are some cringeworthy parts that I wouldn't mind seeing stricken from existence (and I don't mean the crossdressing). All in all, I am just hoping that the remake makes things more consistent with the Compilation.

...That would be so ridiculous, that I'd probably play the FF7 remake. (sans the Lightning skin, because fuck Lightning)

So...hypothetically, what would a reversal of fates accomplish?
In the original FF7, thematically, Aeris is the world's metaphorical savior (or redeemer).
But by having Cloud die instead, she becomes its literal LIVING savior as well.

Sephiroth previously blocked her from reaching the planet to unleash Holy; so it's safe to say that he can fuck with anyone trying to return to the planet (or heaven, or "The Promised Land"); metaphorically making him the Devil.

And if Aeris is metaphorically "Christ"...oh wow.
That actually kinda fits, and gives her added incentive to save the planet herself. It makes a plot hole, where Holy cannot activate, but that can easily be worked around since ol' Sephy is at the planet's core already.

Hilarious.

It would never, EVER happen, but it's not as bad an idea as it seems.

That's actually the reason I didn't want a remake in the first place: I hate the Compilation, for taking FF7 and turning it into a fancier CGI version of DBZ.

Showboating a bit in game is fine, I love the limit break attacks, but the characters struggles seem more grounded when they can't just jump 300 feet at will and chop an entire floor of a building in half like a superhero.
(or worse, in Dirge of Cerberus' case, where Vincent seems to gain and lose those abilities whenever the director says so; even FF7's most absurd attacks didn't actually have in-story representation like they do in the Compilation)

Less a fetish and more I found that whole segment to be utterly hilarious. I will admit though it will be a disturbing moment if they keep it in.

If a guy in a dress in a video game is all it takes to disturb someone, I am surprised they've managed to make it so far into life. You'd think they would have already been terrified into an early heart attack.

"This guy are sick." is the new "All your base are belong to us." Depending on what you think of bad English translation, giving the characters English VO's could be either good or bad.

Maybe all they mean is that they'll add in the ending they cut out for the movie? :/

<.< Not sure if that would be better or worse......
