My teachers were great, especialy my Art Teacher and Japanese Language teacher.
The only one teacher I ever had a real problem with, was my Metal Teacher.
Great guy... then he got married over Summer. I'm not saying Marriage did it, but come next semester the guy was so damn strict, he'd put you in detention if your pencil fell to the floor whilst he was talking.

Used to be in a secondary school (your equivalent of high school) that had about 1 in 8 teachers that actually cared. The rest were varying degrees of useless, and one teacher in biology actually gave out "attitude points"; basically, so she could influence the kind of grades the students got, based on whether she liked them or not. (I think I fell firmly under the "Not" category.)
I got through on pretty much on my own steam and by the help of some excellent tuition teachers. I hardly ever submitted any of the useless assignments the school gave out, but got an award for the GCE O-levels.
Don't know if that's sad or not.

OT: Once my social studies teacher said all mulattoes are pack mules. Um, no. A mulatto is a half black half white person, and though once thought to be derogatory, it is no longer considered so. One exception was the woman who taught me and the rest of my class Domestic Science. For those not in the know, Domestic Science is a poncey name for "cooking". Nobody in the class ever called it Domestic Science, not even the pedantic ones...anyway...

In one class she had us talking about various meats and what goes best with them. When steak came up, a guy who I hated (be bullied me a lot) said "Chips" in response to the question, "what is a good steak accompniament?".
She threw him out the classroom.
For that one word, she screamed: "GET OUT!" at him and confused the fuck out of everyone, me included. Steak and Chips ('French Fries' to the Yanks) is a classic combo that's been around for ever and yet, according to her, chips were the work of the devil and must be cleansed from the surface of the Earth.
Anyway she went outside and gave the guy an almighty bollocking and I think he wound up filing a formal complaint. As much as I loathed him, I would have backed him up on that one and after the incident, everyone was pretty much convinced she'd gone a bit ga-ga (senile).
She also tried to teach me how to make a cup of tea. I explained, politely, that I'd been making cups of tea since I was 8 years old and that I knew what I was doing. That went down really well too...I suppose I was lucky not to get detention!

How is that rude in anyway way, no matter what you're beliefs or religion are. Creationism does not belong in a classroom, if you want to believe it you have the right to but do so from your parents or in a church. It is not based on any sort of evidence or logic so it is not related to science or what should be taught in a science class.Zeeky_Santos said:

That violates the separation of church and state and puts preference on one specific group, the creation stories of the Greeks, the Norse, the Native Americans, etc. are all just as valid beliefs to hold. So you would have to either teach all of them as alternatives or none.
Anyway OT, that's really how schools are everywhere and will be for the foreseeable future. You'll have a few teachers here and there that you'll love and will make learning enjoyable, but for the most part its a boring, wasteful grind. All the school system is set up to do is get you to prove you have the capacity to learn things and can do what you are told. The actual content doesn't actually become relevant to your career until very late in you schooling if ever. So as long as you just deal with the system the way it is you'll be fine getting all the way to having your piece of paper so people will hire you.
Other posters are correct in the internet being a very useful tool in educating yourself in things you're interested in or think are important. Reading a lot of random stuff and books really helps to stimulate your brain so you don't become a zombie.
thank god i go to cyber school now...my old school had horrible students who thought it was funny to shit on the bathroom floor...and teachers who ranted on about how their is 0 tolorance for bullying but when you complained 100+ times and they still do nothing....fucking Blue Mountain Schools...dont ever let your kids go.
Reminds me of one substitute teacher from my schooling years ago during history class. He stood up and glared at the class and then with an authorotive voice asked "How many bullets and bombs were fired in Berlin during the entire second world war!?". Where as I replied without getting my hand up, "Millions upon millions?".To wich he replied"NO! Not a single bullet was fired in Berlin during the entire war!". He was referring to combat situations but he's still a fucking retard as the russians bombed berlin to rubble as well as berlin got bombed by the allies as well via airplanes. And then the russians went into the city and pretty muched killed everyone. so yeah, he was an idiot. Only teacher ive met that was that retarded though. I feel sorry for you man! Well, I once had a "great" maths/physics teacher. She had no idea what she was talking about, she managed to almost electrocute herself while teaching about electricity, had no authority and she was all in all confused. Seriously, when we got back a test people would change theirs and then claim "but it was correct"... and she changed it. Every time!

In year 10 (14-15 yr olds) I had 2 English teachers one after the other. The first guy ws from Niger and within 2 min we were correcting his grammar. Once he left after about 2 months, my next teacher was fine apart from a total and complete inability to control the class. Because of these 2 teachers I ended up doing my GCSE English in a year under the head of department who was actually awesome.
