[HEADING=1]This Month In Forums

June 2010[/HEADING]

Welcome to TIEM Magazine's June publication of This Month In Forums! Where Escapist users like you submit the best posts and users to be honored in our monthly publication.

Sadly, the month of June hasn't treated TMIF very well. With a bare minimum of submissions we were only able to scrape up a few in each category to give the submissions some light competition. While the TMIF council is able to sustain itself on the amount of material we were given, it is difficult to make ends meet. We here of the TMIF council sincerely hope that submissions for the month of July will be ever more plentiful.

Let's move on shall we? Onto this month's awards!

The debate on sex change operations is a very fiery stage to stand up on, and possibly one of the more sizable core elements of the LGBT community as well; however it is also one of the most misunderstood. On June 9th [user]Baby Tea[/user] decided to throw his two cents in [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.200772-Poll-Sex-change-operations-your-thoughts-on-them#6621835] on the subject, providing a rather simple and effective point for clarification on the subject.

I'm sure more than a few of you will nod your heads in agreement with his statement.

[HEADING=3]-Thread of the Month[/HEADING]
There have been many attempts at guides on this site, often a lot of them fail due to a very narrow scope of coverage on the subject. Enter [user]The Rockerfly[/user] and his rather long, but very helpful thread to those interested in music, titled: Music Theory for Beginners [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.198377-Music-Theory-The-basics-updated-V7]. As a violinist myself, even I gleamed a few useful notes.

At first I was planning on scrapping this submission due to the original post being on the 30th of May. But anyone who has given it a courtesy glance will realize why I didn't follow through.

Congratulations Mr. Rockerfly. Not only did you dodge the 'void' stamp, you outright blew it away.
[HEADING=3]-Review of the Month[/HEADING]
Once again, reviews saw very little in the way of action this month. However in a default victory the last (and only) one standing left was a review of Sega's Mega Games 1 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.200449-Mega-Games-1-A-Retrospective-Gaming-Review-by-RAK] by [user]RAKtheUNdead[/user] on the 8th of June.

If you know [user]Therumancer[/user] you either love him or hate him. Whichever side you are on it's understandable why you stand on your side of the stage. He is known for both his well thought out points and tight arguments as much as he is his very,very, very, very controversial views and ideals.

All that aside Therumancer was on a rather nice hot streak this month that lead to our very first shut out vote. Feel free to take the time sample [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.204804-ECA-President-Lawmakers-Know-Anti-Videogame-Bills-Wont-Pass#6916777] the [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.204791-ECA-President-DRM-Has-Gotten-Worse-Not-Better#6897801] work [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.203906-Extra-Punctuation-Boss-Fights?page=6#6888935] of one of the Escapists most controversial users.

[HEADING=1]Additions for the month of July[/HEADING]
[HEADING=2]New Categories[/HEADING]
New categories have been added to TMIF and Council positions are now open. If you want to work on the TMIF Council and wish to apply for the a position, feel free to PM me asking for the position you want.

Positions are filled on a "first come, first serve" basis. So hurry on over. And remember, you must be a member of TIEM Magazine to apply for a position.

[HEADING=2]Award Section[/HEADING]
TMIF is announcing the addition of an Award section. Posts that you feel fit the criteria can be submitted to [user]Timotei[/user]. Submitting a post or thread for an award is the same as a submission for TMIF. Just be sure to read the award descriptions first in the spoiler under the This Month in Forums section of the TIEM User Group home page.

[HEADING=2]The 8 Ball[/HEADING]
TIEM has a new series premiering this month called The 8 Ball with [user]Iron Corgi[/user].

If you have questions about anything, from philosophy, to politics, or even Corgi's personal opinion, feel free to PM a question. Who knows, maybe your question might end up in his bi-monthly editorial. Just be prepared for anything, you'll never know what the 8 Ball will say.

[sub][sub]Rules for submission will be posted in TIEM Magazine User Group under the section The 8 Ball[/sub][/sub].
[hr]

Thank you for making this publication possible. If you wish to submit a post, thread or user for one of our awards, feel free to stop by the TIEM Magazine User Group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/TIEM-Magazine] to make a submission and stay updated on interviews and other TIEM sponsored pieces. Remember, we cannot continue doing this without your support and submissions.

Keep an eye out for our July publication. Be sure to stay up to date with TIEM Magazine about new categories, series, and sections.

Yeah, June was a dry month. Hopefully July is more juicy.

And here I was afraid it wouldn't get Posted for some reason.
Well congrats to the Of the Month's, the honourable mentions, and the Walrus.

As always, looking forward to the next one.

At first I was planning on scrapping this submission due to the original post being on the 30th of May.
I did notice that when it was first submitted, I just decided to ignore it due to how good a thread it was and if anyone asked I would just use the excuse that it was submitted in June, therefore it's a June nomination.

Got a decent thread from January 2008? Submit it now for the possibility of it being a July nomination!

Baby Tea got post of the month? Really?

Look, I know it was a good post which clearly showed understanding of the matter in hand, but I'm sure I know there were others that were better.

I wonder if it's a case of lack of exposure - after all, Baby Tea is quite well known around here and his posts will draw more attention.

Woohoo, check me out!, thanks Timotei!

I'd completely forgotten I'd told the Escapist my worst nightmare, I was about to go to bed, but I think I'll stay up and re assert my manhood by ripping a book in half first.

OT: Interesting. I really need to pay more attention to this sort of things, but all the zombie apocalypse, favourite and Halo Hate threads made my eyes bleed, obscuring my view and preventing me from noticing fully the effort you put into this.
That's one of the reasons I'm hardly on anymore. Mostly I make a few posts and the rest is just TIEM related stuff.

As said, June was a dry month. Hopefully this month will be better.
Plus, if you find an awesome post, PM it to me. Anyone can submit posts, so long as its not their own(due to the whole "self promotion" thing).

It's all done by user submissions, think it make have been unjust then help them out next month by PMing some of the TIEM guys with submissions, or join the group and submit them that way.

Wish I'd had some competition this month, but it's still nice to see one of my reviews in This Month In Forums. Thanks to the members of TIEM.
Nobody wanted to compete with you. I swear you could write an indepth analysis of the current political situation in southeast Asia in the time it takes most users to make a "lolwut" post.

Well, at least you have one more person pulling their bleeding eyes from the clutter of the off-topic and onto the beacon of holiness TIEM could potentially come to be, right?
True. But the beacon of a lighthouse can be rendered useless when the fog gets thick enough.

And the forecast isn't looking too good I'm afraid.

Cool, I got an honourable mention. Thanks, whoever nominated me. ...Shame I've had to post that link a few times lately but no matter, it was bound to happen.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for anything I

Quick question, can we nominate RP posts?
As I've seen a few today that blew my socks off.

Good question. I'm not sure if we do or not actually. I personally don't mind, but I'll just ask to be safe.

RP posts are treated just like every other submission. Though they are presented a rather large hurdle in the form of competition from other posts which add more discussion to the community.

Hmm... This thread was posted as one of the reasons as to why this site should be raided on /v/ a while ago, but I can't quite put my finger on what's so special about this topic to make this site raid worthy.
I think it may be less about the topic itself and more about the person behind it.

I have accumulate quite the list of banned enemies. That may have contributed somewhat as to why someone would mention this in a thread on freaking /v/ (why not /i/?).
