Guys, why are we debating this in the first place? The first response should have been "it is a typo. /Thread."

Killzone 2 is being developed by a company OWNED BY SONY and the game itself is PUBLISHED BY SONY. It WILL NOT go to the PC or 360, this was merely a typo. We had another topic like this a few days ago, too.

Move along guys, nothing to really debate about here. Typos happen.

I've noticed this too. They really need to start checking their information. I got into a twenty minute argument with my friend about Halo 3: Recon because they said that it was an expansion where you would be able to unlock the "recon" armor. I said that they were way wrong and ended up having to link him to the Bungie website so that he could hear it from their mouths that GI was wrong. I've never trusted that magazine, and now I have even more of a reason to.
You might want to check your facts. Once Halo 3: ODST launches, everyone who completes the VidMaster achievements in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST will unlock Recon armour for Halo 3 multiplayer.
Bungie have confirmed this.
My fault, I didn't realize I would have to go into full detail of what my friend said, I thought a general idea of his words would be enough to suffice, apparently I was wrong.
What my friend had told me that GI said was that starting a game on H3:R while your account had Halo 3 data on it would automatically unlock the armor.

Please don't tell me my facts are wrong. I check Bungie.net daily and frequent the forums terribly often. I'm sorry I wasn't specific enough for you, nobody else seemed to have a problem with this though.

You weren't just non-speccific, you directly contradicted the facts. Halo 3: Recon (now known as ODST) is an expansion to Halo 3 which will enable you to unlock the Recon armour in Halo 3. This is what you said your friend said, which you then stated outright you argued was wrong.
In your efforts to join in on the tirade against GI magazine, you poorly communicated a real life incident, and now you're being condescending towards me for calling you out on it.
Nice.

I read an article in some paper last week that reported Gears of War 2 was available on the PS3 and Wii.
Maybe they were thinking of Mad World.

Kind of a slap in the face to the people who have already been awarded Recon armour by Bungie.
I guess they can always say "I had it before it was cool".

Was there anything else interesting in the article?
You mean the GI article on Killzone 2? Not really. It was pretty much just a collection of stuff that anyone who has been tracking Killzone 2 lately will know. Stuff like "the graphics look NICE!," "The game is about an invasion of Helghan, the home planet of the Helghast," and "The game features a first person cover mechanic." You know, just the same stuff we have been hearing about...Nothing really new, per se. The only reason anyone is talking about it is because they are getting their hopes up over a typo.

It's a typo people, Gurilla Games are owned by Sony and the game is being published by Sony.

I bet you 100% that if this game was exclusive to 360 and/or Published by Microsoft, and this typo appeared, everyone would automatically brand it as a typo and move on. But nope, because it's a Sony game, it "could ever so much be true! I hope so!"

Bah!

HUMBUG!

Sorry...I'm being a cynic.

Bottom line, it's a typo, don't get your hopes up or even think about the possibilities unless MS completely buys out Sony.

Though turns out I wasn't hte only one who noticed. I could see some enraged reader mail pop up in the letters section.

I think there are still people who want to see Killzone 2 destroy Halo 3 sales, just so it can be the Halokiller Killzone 1 wasn't.

On the other hand, as Tycho from Penny Arcade pointed out, Killzone 2 is going to be the first game that doesn't need excuses. Every PS3 game that's failed to lvie up to the hype has had escapes like "the PS3 wasn't the lead sku" or "the devs didn't understand how to utilise the complex cell architecture" etc.
As his argument then follows, these excuses shouldn't apply to Killzone 2. what we should be seeing is the game at it's full potential, precisely as Guerilla Games/Sony Computer Entertainment envision.

So it has to be good, right?

I got the impression from his post that he hadn't actually played it so he was only speculating based on the IGN review of the Beta and the previews he'd seen.

I'm personally not sold on it based on early discussion of previews, but it'll be worth a rental. I don't think it's fair to review anything before it's finished and I'll want to play it.

Dunno about anyone else but I am. I picked up Killzone after being bitterly disappointed by Halo 2 and I really enjoyed it. Granted, it wasn't the Halo killer it was advertised to be, but taken as it's own game I found it to be very good. Killzone 2 is on my top 5 to watch out for in 2009.

I am more or less excited about what they have said. Ever since resistance 2 ( a game revered by many to be the ps3's halo killer) came out and did "all right" I Have been waiting for their next attempt. Killzone 2 was apparently supposed to be their halokillerkiller, as a friend I know once called it, and was supposed to sell better,
and be better than halo 3.
So if killzone lives up to the hype, it will crush every FPS under their mighty Helghast boot and proclaim the PS3 the winning console.

Reality might have a thing or two to say about that.

Maybe Game Informer is becoming the same crap mis-informed corporation that is plaguing G4.

Or it could just be a typo.

It looks to me to be rather similar to Dark Sector really. I wasn't a fan of the first Killzone anyway. If it's good, then I wouldn't mind it coming to 360, but tbh, there's too much shit just come out for me to buy it all anyway. I suppose thats a good thing.

My first thought as I read that magazine was "Oh god, I can only imagine the fanboys when they see this typo" I think Game Informer is going to get slightly more hatemail than usual.
