This Vita hate train is getting ridiculous.

What games does it have? What hardware? Why should I care? I don't know anyone who has one.

I guess it's just a severe case of the Penguin Effect.
Though people say the games are in few, there's actually quite a bit of them. You have your games like Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal, which can actually play in unison with the PS3. You have titles also on the PS3 such as Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. But you also have basically all titles of the original Playstation Portable up for download on PSN along with PS1 titles too. Exclusives are admittedly also really good, you have Little Big Planet Vita, Soul Sacrifice which is a recent title, Gravity Rush, etc. The latter two being completely original games in terms of being the first with the title.

The hardware is pretty solid, though I can't give you the specs off hand, I know that it's the strongest handheld console to date, with great looking graphics and even able to handle PS3 games. It does have two built in cameras, which both are really good quality (like for Skype), a built in microphone (Which you can freely turn off without quitting your game or going offline), two analog sticks which is something new to the handheld consoles (something you must purchase a separate peripheral from Japan to have for the 3DS), and the ability to transfer some data from PC to PS3 through Content Manager. It does, much like the DS/3DS has two touch screens, one in the front and one in the back. The front being like an iPod's touch screen and the back being the same... But in the back. I think that's all to touch on...

Why you should care? Well, you've never owned a handheld. You seem a bit vaguely interested in any... So you gotta answer that yourself.

And you don't know? Well, that's just fine, you don't need to really. I don't know anyone in real life that owns a 3DS. It just happens.

I hope this helped you a little, sorry if it seems rushed.

I don't really count what I've seen as hate but ignorance on the matter

Vita has no games: Okay I guess backwards compatibility with PSP digital titles, PSone titles don't count as good games. So no FFVII, Monster Hunter, God of War and such. "But that's not exclusive" The previous still counts as you can transfer it to your PS3/PSP and keep playing, but exclusive PSV titles? Persona 4 Golden, Disgaea 3, Ragnarok Odyssey, Uncharted, Unit 13, Soul Sacrifice, Playstation All Stars, Sly Cooper, Rayman Orgins are all great Vita titles and some you can even get free when you buy the PS3 versions.

And I've not really seen others offer a similar thing as mentioned above, also any PSOne game purchased on your PS3 also transfers to your PSV/PSP so there's some more awesome for you. Too buff this up if you pay for PS+ you get to play a number of PS3/PSP/PSV games free and it's cross platform when you buy, and I don't think saying it's not worth it qualifies when people pay for XBL and all they get is free adverts on their console.

Vita is too expensive: Well I got my vita for $189 flat which included a new 8GB card, new game and shipping vs 3DS-XL with nothing= $199.99+tax. I'd say the price for a 3DS XL on ebay but they're always cost near new systems. Now that doesn't take into account the PSN games I bought that work on the Vita that I already owned, so I got a few games to play with considering.

So again it's not hate, it's not stupidity.... people just don't know better or try to get a deal.

I bought my vita second hand for $140 with a memory card and a bunch of accesories, like the clip on controller thing which is amazing btw...
it's a shame the system doesn't get more games on it because it is a pretty good system, the screen is gorgeous and it's the most comfortable hand held i've ever used thanks for the controller clipon. Frankly i think it's work buying one(not new, it's stupid expensive) just for persona 4 golden.

That is not a bad lineup, by any definition. In fact, I think it might be the biggest lineup of exclusives out of any console this year. That's the sort of thing Sony need to start doing if they want the Vita to succeed, and so far they really haven't been showing any desire to do that.
Thanks for the info, I've honestly heard of a lot of those games, but I wanted to know if there was anything I didn't hear of.

I kinda agree with the exclusives opinion too, the ones it has are pretty damn good like Gravity Rush, and the iteration exclusives are also really good, like Little Big Planet. But more exclusives would be good, even HD exclusives like Jak and Daxter Trilogy HD will be Vita only I read. But honestly the cross-play and multiplatform also including the Vita, a handheld, is a pretty awesome idea that works. And is part of the reason I bought one.

I give a resounding "Meh" to vita hate (I never see an excessive amount though). I read that there was poll that said an overwhelming number of vita owner are happy with their purchase so hate is coming from non-owners. It doesn't matter anyway. There are legit reasons to not buy one. Its not a console for everyone, I happen to use mine everyday so when people say "it sucks" I know that aint exactly true

I think your defense is solid and everything towards your opinion... But I think you should also list these exclusives you say the 3DS has, I'm kinda interested as a non-3DS owner but a Vita owner.
Mario Kart
Mario 3D
NSMB 2
Fire Emblem
Luigi's Mansion
Monster Hunter, and before you say that's just a port of a Wii game, if you think that, you do not know monster hunter, or its fans

Not to mention Ocarina of Time, and while that is a port of the N64 game, it sells incredibly well. It's like the 3DS's Persona 4, except more popular.

That's something that works for you, but I hope you can understand that you are part of a minority in that regard. Most people don't want to, or don't have the cash to buy an expensive handheld to act as a luxury controller and to play games they already own on other platforms. Most people buy handhelds for their exclusives, which is why the Vita is currently getting its arse kicked. It can't survive just by appealing to like cross-play. For most people, that's an ancillary feature, something that doesn't factor into their purchase at all.
Actually, I think I should've mentioned this... I am a hard worker, and I don't really use my Vita for a luxury controller. I don't own a PS3, I actually own the 360. I bought the Vita out of pocket from my own hard earned cash and I made sure I had money to spare just in case, and it was bought on Black Friday. Like the 3DS being $250 at launch, that's a hell no for me even with the Vita. But $200 for a completely new Vita, with all the accessories you need, a memory card, and a game? (Albeit one of the worst games, Black Ops Declassified) That's one hell yes in my book.

All my Vita games? Don't own them on another system. But being able to buy games that are also on another system? That's a pretty good plus. I'm probably the minority like you said unless someone can assure it, but as a Vita owner... I can say that's a pretty neat positive. Might not work for you, but it does with other people. Like the 3DS' Monster Hunter can connect with the Wii U's I heard.

I know Monster Hunter on 3DS is different, I'm not too oblivious to the 3DS heheh... Thanks for the info though. And watch out, I don't want you getting attacked for your opinion...

Well that's open to debate

I'm just trying to clarify the Monster Hunter point, because so many people who don't know Monster Hunter see it as more of a rerelease as opposed to about 4 new monsters in a game with around 30 total monsters, twice the amount of gear, and twice as many quests.

Edit: finally got the formatting right

True, but I see way more people who see Persona 4: Golden as a reason to buy a Vita than people who see Ocarina of Time as an excuse to buy a 3DS

Yeah using hate train seems a little dumb on my part. Honestly I think the Vita is great but I agree with the aforementioned opinions. On that it needs some more exclusives, and for Sony to start supporting it.

The reason I haven't bought one yet is because I remember my psp becoming an expensive paperweight. No way I'm gonna fall for that again

My thoughts exactly. Just because I don't want one, doesn't mean I hate it. I've never been into handhelds. If I want to play a handheld game it is only going to be because I have a small amount of time to kill and in that case I'll just pull out my iphone.

I'm gonna jump in with the "Its not hate, more like no one really cares" crowd.

Mainly because while I enjoyed my launch day PSP, it was basically used as a portable video player. The VITA just didn't even register, I only actually remembered about it because this thread popped up.

So, I have a Vita, and I really like it. I'm hoping that more ps3 games will come with Vita crossplay, as I currently have a lifestyle that disallows home consoles. It also helps that I owned a PSP and had some good digital games on that...

As for this "hate train" of which you speak, I find that you should avoid what people say on the internet. Everybody likes to complain and there will always be a vocal minority of people who hate everything and will never be satisfied. The fact that Sony is still making games for it means that it's going to stay awhile. People always hated the PSP, but I found the Japanese-published works were good and numerous enough to justify my ownership of it.

So if you have a Vita and you like it, then you're good! Don't let people bring you down! It's not like they're going to take it away from you.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward isn't PS Vita exclusive. Not to demean its value as a great game, but it's also on the 3DS.

I had a Vita once. I thoroughly enjoyed Gravity Rush, but I got rid of my Vita some time ago. Interesting as they are, P4: Golden and Soul Sacrifice aren't enough for me to get another one.

I couldnt care less about the Assassin's creed or Uncharted franchises. They just dont interest me at all anymore. Zero escape is another one Im not to interested in, I usually dont enjoy the visual novel style. Gravity Rush is one that flew beneath my radar so Ill at least check that out

The issue with all the ports on the vita is, I already own most of the games I would want on PC. I tend to use my Vita when Im taking a long trip or otherwise going to be uninterupted and want to relax. So if I get on a plane, take a train, or if Im going for a long drive with someone Ill pull out my Vita (although now that I have a Razer edge I might be packing that instead). When Im at home I pretty much only use my PC unless theres an exclusive I really want to play on it or a console

That said, I still think the Vita has a major drought of great games.

I'm happy with my Vita purchase. I've gotten a lot of free games from Sony to justify it.

PS Vita doesn't have solid exclusive lineup, but its working well for me as PS3 (soon PS4) accessory.

I think the 'hate train's moved onto Wii U anyways.
