I have yet to meet a British person I have liked. I have found that ever person I have met from the UK is an arrogant prick.
I imagine you are popular on this multi-country forum
I am just stating what I have experienced. The first British kid I met was in grade school and God damn he was a pompus little bastard. I have also shared connections with a Welshman and another person from the UK. Both were not good, both were rude and arrogant.

But hey these are just my experiences, not calling out an entire population or anything.

That was pretty... decent of you - most people meet one guy and generalize an entire continent on that one person.

I am British and I like to think that I am patriotic, so i was just wondering how do you feel about britain and it's people? what are you're feelings on British stereotypes?
My feelings are exactly as you describe. People who're patriotic about a country that doesn't have anything to be proud about.

Well, I would mention the NHS if I didn't think the government were hellbent on ripping it apart.

My favorite thing about the British is that they're probably the ONLY people who could beat the USA in a war. not that i want one to happen but it would be funny to see the states piss you guys off.
They been doing that for years.

I'm not pro-English, anti-French, but they say we're stubborn and have a bad sense of humour?

I hate patriotism. In any damn country. I for one hate this country, mainly because of the people I am surrounded by. Girls with no sense of self respect, talking amongst themselves about who had sex with who on the wednesday. The plethora of thickies that don't know how to react to a film that wasn't made in the 21st Century. They can't take anything for what it is, all they listen to is R&B and complain about why men are such pigs. Their own fault for chasing penis over the weekend at a nightclub. I only feel safe when I'm in my house, or in a friend's house, knowing that outside there will be some yob ready to call his mates to jump and insult me. The only friends I have are like myself, intelligent people who actually want to work and don't question authority. Honestly, there are around 30 people in my year who have determination to work. The other 100 and something are all worried about where their drink, drugs and sex is coming from on a friday night. Seriously, maybe it is just my town, but I hate Britain.

To be more specific, I hate the time I was born. I can't begin to fathom what fuelled culture to end up like this. As soon as I have the money and the skills, I'm moving somewhere better. The weather is dull here, nobody EVER FUCKING SMILES, they all look like they're concealing a weapon and ready to embed it in your soft flesh. Honestly, the only people I am ever greeted politely by are old people, and people that I know. People here are so wrapped up in their own lives that they can't even say thank you when you hold open a door! The whole country seems to be miserable. This little part is an edit, because I forgot to mention our damn governments obsession with health and safety! You would have though that common sense dictated that you wouldn't go and walk towards a pungee pit. Then there is political correctness...basically, I feel the same as Steve Hughes.

If you haven't guessed already...I hate Britain, and I am ashamed to be British. I'd much rather be something remotely interesting like Italian or Dutch. Sorry for the rant, but to be fair, you asked.
Teenager with little knowledge of the world, probably not the most popular kid or hit with the ladies. Chin up mate, modern life is indeed rubbish but a bitter outlook leads to a bitter life.
(Not mocking/patronising you)

England is a unique place to live. It's the combined efforts of many cultures. Currently the media, working and middle classes are far too American obsessed which in my eyes, is a sad state of affairs. British culture died with Britpop in the 90's which was. Let's hope a revival will come in time.

What they said.

Anyway, Uhm, I've heard plenty of stereotypes concerning Britain.
I can't be bothered to list them out.

I honestly think that at the very least the part of Britain I live in is a fucking hole.
And the world could do worse than to completely erase my town from itself.

Of course you're not patronising...
[small]Liar. You wouldn't have said that if you knew you weren't.[/small]

For your information, I've experienced things that a lot of people probably wouldn't be able to imagine. I know little of the world? Most likely. I know little of people? Wrong. As you were referring to the world in it's completetion, I assume you were talking about people generally. You automatically passed a judgement in regards to my age. I won't go into that, but still, try to account for variables before you go firing of generalisations. As I said MANY times in my post, maybe this only occurs in my township, but as far as I know, this is not the case. Britain was once a great place. Y'know when that was? When were impaling each other on swords, catching diseases and worshipping God. People were sociable, they didn't look at you as if you were vermin, which isn't very nice to receive.

Just to burn you a little, my life is bitter. I can't explain why, the reasons are too personal, but as I said, before you started saying things, try to take into account that people are people, and not robots with the same characteristics. There are other, more pleasant places in the world, Britain to me is like a disgruntled fat kid, blaming everyone for his excessive eating.

Watch your tongue. Words are painful.

Monty Python! But I have to say I don't care for the accent, and I think the people act more "American" today than they should.

No one is British - your either Scottish, English or Irish...
or Welsh...
Nope, only the English, Scots, Welsh, and Northern Irish.
Thank you. I read this whole thread without one mention of us Northern Irish, although we are part of the Uk we aren't technically part of Britain, but still British, confusing I know but its generally accepted that you can kind of decide if your Irish or British, usually depending on your religion Catholic - Irish, Protestant - British.

Britain certainly is... British?

I know almost nothing about Britain except that you've produced a lot of good bands and are rumored to have some terrible teeth.

It doesn't get much better, no matter where you go. You either land yourself in a developped country(Britain, canada) and make enough money to enjoy all the luxuries we do(like the internet), but you have to put up with "Americanism" as all developed countries have lost all form of culture.

Your second choice is to move to a developing nation(like China or India) but there is a good chance that you will have to sacrifice many of your luxuries due to low income/crappy quality of life, especialy outside the major cities.

Third is you can move to a third world country(like sub-saharan Africa). I think you might know the problem with that part of the world.

British stereotypes? Awesome and fucking scary. I mean, hooligans, best rockers in the world and food that will kill you. That's a fucking hardcore country right there.

Also, since The Beatles come from England, that makes it the most awesome place ever to have existed.

Beatles > Michael Jackson, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Anyone else
You're forgetting that the Beatles didn't get full worldwide recognition until they toured in America.

OT: They're alright, I guess.
Sorry but... what? How is he forgetting that? It doesnt change the fact that they are British, thus it has NO bearing on what he said.

Britain USED to be good, now it's being run into the fucking ground by a fatman who is more useless then the last git, and a man who can't even sort out his hair dye. Our justice system is being ruined, our healthcare is laughable, and our education is mess...

But I would never leave. Simply because this country is one of the best. All we need now is someone with a decent vision, and a bit of faith, and we'll be rebuilt. We have the infastructure, we have the ability to rebuild all we need is someone to get things back on track...

Britain, Britain, Britain.......

Britain is ace in my opinion, varied locales, interesting people, world class uni's, and a good old dollop of intercountry rivalry, Scotland v England, north vs south etc etc

not too mention top class music and comedy.

and to fiish it all of a nice healthy dollop of self depreciation.

its good to British or Scottish or English or Welsh or Irish. (take your pick)

I'm Australian.

I don't think about Britain much. Unlikely that I'll ever go there unless someone else pays for it, because I kinda of prefer the hot weather where I am. Although I think girls with English accents are kind of hot, so maybe if I ran into enough money I'd go during the Australian winter...
Ironically, most British guys I know (including me! :D) think girls with Australian accents are hot...

I propose a trade!
Haha me too, good idea. Get us some more australian chicks!

OT: Overall, i like living in Britain but thats probably due to the great people i know over here, and i don't really care about any stereostypes because they really aren't that significant to a population as a whole.

Their is alot about the general British public i hate, mostly my generation nowadays. the kids who don't care and have no respect for authority but even then, this is their parents fault. I hate our people but for all this they are alot of good people out their too. I HATE when older people look at me in disgust because they assume i'm one of those kids i hate because i'm not. The british public increasingly annoy me for many reasons... gah... (Anyone British will understand that anyone voting for john and edward on x factor should be sent to a special place for people who are just that stupid.) Ok end Rant there, because i also love my country, for all the crap wheather and idiots and health and safety and ridiculous Political Correctness (Baa Baa Black Sheep anyone?) i remember that i have a warm home, free health care, some lovely people too, a generally safe town, a generally working police force and a happy life. Anyways...
British (THEY MEAN ENGLISH) Stereotypes are really poo in american culture. so stupid and inacurate. also they're is no such thing as a british accent! and i don't think it's right to call us Europian, but i don't think it's right to call anywhere that, it's FAR to generalized. Finally, These poo stereotypes that come from Americans are due to (those particular american's) PURE IGNORANCE. I'm often filled with pure rage towards Americans and their ignorance but i know that this isn't fair, that their are americans out their that aren't stupid like these stereotypes i've seen (And thats why i love the Escapist - because everyone here is the other side of the coin you don't see) it's all fair to argue about how people get your stereotypes wrong but it's very easy to generalize other cultures without realizing it.

I guess i feel for this topic alot... :)
