Im British and i can honestly say the only good thing i like is the nightlife, takeout food and our humour.
I'm from Britain but am now living in Australia, these are the major reasons why miss the UK!

Also I don't know where people get their information from but I loved the food in England compared to Australia. The whether may be cold and wet at some part but at least it's consistent not like here where I get interchanging days. I like the stereotypes because they're funny but sometimes their taken too seriously, we don't drink warm beer idiots.

I love Britain, and in a much more general way. Lots of people say they love Britain, but only really mean England. I love the whole damn lot of us, because as far as I'm concerned we're pretty bloody amazing.

And we spell better.

And rock harder.

And review games without punctuating them.

I'm done now.

Britain is great! I love the food the people apart from the Hoodlums who manifest our streets but other than that they're lovely. Scottish and English? now that's what I call a fun bunch; Welsh and Irish not so much.

Heh, I enjoy living here. Sure, the chavs are annoying and it rains too much (a classic British pun is "Isn't it a lovely summer? Oh yes, the rain is very warm at this time of year") and our government is appearing more and more out of sync with the public with each growing day (they claim they're being "victimised" for fleecing money of everyone for years and not going to jail for it like ordinary folk would).

But the people are awesome, the humour is fantastic and we've got some pretty damn good music even on the amateur scene. The cultural diversity makes it somewhere truly special in the world, IMO, and it's this absorption that has created "Britishness". Plus, though we are not exactly patriotic by-and-large, there is a distinct "national spirit" in times of warfare, even in the recent illegal war the people rallied around the troops.

I occasionally wish to emigrate to Finland/Sweden, but in reality I'd be perfectly happy staying in good old Blighty (most likely England - great surfing in the south west, awesome mountain biking in Wales, fantastic mountaineering in Scotland, but England is home to me).

I love Britain.
Sure there's shit going down with the current goverment, chav culture and etc, but that's as expected of any country.
I don't wave the union jack or have a picture of queeny that I look up to, but I express my love for britain by shouting angrily at the men in white shirts in the TV. There's so much good things about the UK, you just gotta look for them.

When I think of home I can't seem t think of anywhere than good ol' blighty

It's not a bad place to live, and as time goes on you can get used to the worse of it.

The foods nice, and some of the girls aren't half bad either. Plus, I always thought we had a great sense of humour. Not to mention all the stuff about spelling things the way they were meant to be spelled, damned yanks and your lack of the letter 'u'.

As far as standards go, well, I can't help but feel we've let ourselves go a bit, not that there's nothing we can't do when our minds and hearts go into it.

Like I said;

It's not a bad place to live, and as time goes on you can get used to the worse of it.

We've just got our work cut out for ourselves, especially in education, particularly literacy; repairing and replacing old infrastructure; not to mention the many laws that need reforming.

EDIT: However, I do, on principle, disagree with the idea of patriotism. A word with an invisible line around it just isn't deserving of my love.

Well, i probably shouldn't reply to this, but since i am a fucking racist i HAVE to. Here goes:
You britts are speech impaired, rich, poorly dentaled, have terrible airport security (the system), terrible flight service, and drive on the wrong side of the road. HOWEVER, you have decent food, nice cities, and a REAL form of government. But, you still love your queen, who does absolutely nothing, have had two maybe three good bands to go international, have once good comedian, and need to fix your vision on other countries, including America, the kids are disrespectful of authority and swear uncontrollably, especially at people who don't do anything.

I'm Australian.

I don't think about Britain much. Unlikely that I'll ever go there unless someone else pays for it, because I kinda of prefer the hot weather where I am. Although I think girls with English accents are kind of hot, so maybe if I ran into enough money I'd go during the Australian winter...
Ironically, most British guys I know (including me! :D) think girls with Australian accents are hot...

I propose a trade!
I'm cool with that. Lobby your PM.

I like britain but im from the north east and its infested with chavs and i regularly get shouted at in the street for having long hair and not wanting to look like a cock in burberry gear.
I share your pain. I too am from the north east. as long as i stay on myestate i dont get bothered by chavs, but as soon as i go to one of the towns surrounding it its just a long line of insults by chav scum. One time on the bus, they were annoying me so much i got the bus driver to kick them off. That was a good day.
Anyway, i love britains history. Most of its people annoy the hell out of me. As does our current government. I just cant help but feel the glory days have gone. And i missed them because i wasnt born yet
Yea i feel the glory days are definitely gone :(

Technically, our glory was invading and oppressing foreign lands in the name of Queen, Country and 'Bringing Civilization to the Natives'(TM).

No that it was all like that or all bad, but still, lets not pretend it wasn't a race with the French to see who could steal as much of the planet as possible before the other (still, we won - take that, Johnny Frenchy! ;)).

Yea bringing civilization to the natives by sailing over there and going 'your family works for us now and your land is also ours' :)

(Everything I said about myself is actually true!)

Scotland is the best, best accent, best people (hello we have invented the best of things, tv, telephone, anaethetic, radar, bank of england, the bike and it was US that MADE BRITAIN!!!!) then Northern Ireland (or cousins XP) and Wales.

now enough of my rant. Love my country, I am Scottish not British.

Also, Scotland has the highest alcoholism rate and heart disease (also, the inventers of the Deep Fried Mars Bar and the Deep Fried Pizza - no, I'm not joking American readers).

As for 'making Britain', I'm pretty sure that was English Imperialism, and the fact that the national economy of Scotland ended up being bankrupted by a scam, ledding it to let us English 'buying it out'.

Anywho, I am in fact half-Scottish.
