Thoughts on PS3 update 3.0

I can't believe Sony would reason with EA on this. I have been waiting for cross game chat for a while, and all we get is a glittery screen? If Sony doesn't add these things in a few months, I'm selling my PS3 and getting a 360. What are you going to do about it?

Cross game chat? we have that via text, or did you mean on headset?
Also, they've made it easier to see if you've recieved messages and how many friends you have online.
Not JUST a glittery screen.
I personally wish they'd make an update for the ps3 and psp, which allows you to play psone games on your psp, without the lag that sometimes happens from hardware issues.

I also think the bonus of online mode working once you install the update is always a winning feature in my mind. Because, you know, Noby Noby Boy doesn't make GIRL grow by herself.

I found it interesting how it used the new logo for the starting screen, and look forward to being able to check my messages easier.

Only bought the PS3 for the NCAA and Gran Turismo games (cant play NCAA 10 football on a European Xbox360, but you can on a European PS3 hence i got both consoles) so upgrade schmupgrade all my friends play on Xbox anyway so i dont give a hoot about chat.

Nothing. Go on and buy a 360 if you want. They won't cater to you.

I personally thought the update was okay. Could use some spiffing up, but other than that, nicely done.

Most of the new stuff, like the "What's New" box under Network, is tailored towards online play, so it doesn't affect my since my online barely works ¬__¬

Ironically, if any co-op games come out, me and my newly PS3 owning co-op buddy will probably just use our 360s in private chat whilst we play, rather than pissing about with new headsets.

It's glittery, and the layout of stuff has changed slightly.

I really don't care. I just did it so I could go online.

I also don't quite understand the section showing recent games played and ads and all that. It all seems very fluffy and impractical.

The update seemed a little pointless to me, the interface still isn't as great. The glitter did confuse me.

Oh yes and all the boxes that pop up and won't let me see when I go through the menus are fucking annoying. One showed the recent games I played, like I can't remember what I played!?

I thought it was pretty good, adding what is basically a shortcut to BBC iPlayer is very good for me!

Also the re-design of the friends section is good too. And its all shiny

I dont really care about cross-game chat, Im quite happy with the txt chat, i think it works well.

Have yet to download the update, didn't expect much to be honest. Although I'm kind of excited about the glittery screen now.

Me thinks they just added the minor upgrades to impress people who are just now buying the slim version. Them and the crow/human hybrids as it's well documented that they love sparklies. I for one am irked by them not making music play with all games compatible with the XMB. Don't know why they caved to EA it was so obviuosly a bluff.

Wow , just.... your ignorance amazes me. The get dynamic background functionality, the PSN store is better connected to the XMB now and the friend's list has been updated as well. Not to mention the entire system seems to run a smudge faster. I personally don't care about cross game chat. I have a ton of other ways I can talk to people while in game already.
