Is there an option for players that want to learn piloting too? or is it "easy to learn hard to master from the get go? (well with mods)
That seems to be the unique feature of Homefront.
Few words of warning though.
It's not gonna be any fun, at all, if you play it by yourself.
You need a clan of like-minded people for it to work.
When you have that, it's EPIC shiz, but without it it's just Battlefield, with more toys and options, but without a proper multiplayer community.
Thing is, the original intent of the software was to teach the US Army's new recruits... kinda says it all, right there?
Bottom line: It's not a Shooter, it's a MilSim.
Unless you're willing to find a clan, learn some clan-specific communication skills, (What do you do if someone screams: "Contact, right, 200!)?
That sort of shit.
But if you can get past all that, it's EPIC. I can promise you that.
EDIT: And I never answered your question >.<
Yes, you can very easily take a Heli and start piloting it in single-player.
However, there's no "easy setting".
There's a "landing assist" setting, but nothing else.
So yeah, as you say, easy to learn, VERY hard to truely master.
