Didn't it sell over one million copies? Why would they need to layoff any devs?
game was made, company is done spending, time to stop paying people so they can get more net profit.
Yup. It's a new form of work extortion in the gaming industry and it's totally legal.
I guess more than a few people were paying attention when Activision royally fucked over Infinity Ward (and those insane unpaid bonuses).

Remember: Developers are nothing more than disposable worker-bees. The needs of the stockbrokers outweigh the needs of everyone else.

So they were actually expecting that the game will be sold because its good and not just a poor attempt to hype Americans?

Ah that sucks, layoffs are very rarely a good thing, hopeflly those guys/gals/? will find somewhere new fairly soon.

I'm a little bit surprised at the sense of entitlement (maybe ignorance) going on in some of the posts though, especially any that are along the lines of 'it was a bad game, they deserve to get fired'. I really don't think being sore over dropping £40 on a below-par game is really cause to want someone to be struggling to pay their rent next month.

I mean, c'mon, are people no longer allowed to learn from their mistake? Hell, if I got fired from my job whenever I made a mistake I'd have been sacked more times than Jordan on a Saturday night.

I hope at least the idiot responsible for the San Francisco Bay balloon dump was one of the people canned.
