Yeah, played the demo for a few minutes and while I didn't find it bad I didn't find it interesting, not enough to finish the demo. Hopefully this puts Relic back on track of making great RTSs.

As far as competing with the MMO, yeah maybe, Games Workshop doesn't mess around with their IPs even if Relic should have a little clout by now.

Not the biggest loss ever: while I enjoyed Space Marine(or at least the parts of it that has orks), it didn't really need a sequel, and if it did, it would have to refine the formula quite a bit and preferably have more jetpacks.

Also, Relic should just fuck off and make a proper sequel to Company of Heroes.

"And it is said that Yakob's cries of woe were heard across the plains of Terra....."

Still, I loved WAR and a 40K MMO can only end well.....unless of course they feth it up.

Probably for the best, Space Marine wasn't the best game relic made (though it's a very good effort) and wasn't the best representation of 40k imo in that it played directly to the stereotypes ppl have atm about big tank men fighting in brown levels.
Space Marine was really just a treat for the fans who are already invested in the lore.

The Reasoning might be due to the MMO perhaps being a pseudo-Action game with mechanics to Space marine, the details of which came from a 'leak' But these where shot down really quick by THQ.

But it is intresting to note, that they then suddenly declare that for some reason Space Marine might impact the MMO, Kinda odd to say the least.

So when is the 40k turn based strategy game? Its the only 40k title I'll be playing.

Until then I'll stick with Blood Bowl legendary edition as the only GW title I play on PC. Just like the table top game but with more glitches and game crashes:/

Space Marine isnt an fps game, its 3rd person and its mostly melee not shooting. Plus the first fps game set in the 40k universe is a game called fire warrior.
That'd be Space Hulk actually.
Ahh very true very true, I forgot about the space hulk games.

I know what you're thinking. I don't see how an MMO and an third person shooter conflict in terms of gameplay either. Oh well, Bilson may just be trying to explain away the fact that Space Marine ain't selling so there's no way in the seven hecks he's going to spend money on a sequel.
From what ive seen of the trailers its abit of a 3rd person shooter mixed with a skill set like on WoW so im interested to see where it goes when it comes to gameplay.

Also, Titans.
It will be nice to actually use one for once instead of just fighting over the bloody thing.

I still want em to do a survival horror based on either a world being invaded by Tyranids or a base being raided by Dark Eldar.

So if you can't do Space Marine 2, do that, please.

They allready released how leveling in the new MMO will work. Also they stated that the MMO-Team and the Space Marine Team worked together, gameplay wise.

So they might be right,
to make a Sequel for Space Marine they would need 2 years, in this span the MMO will be released, wich will have a somewhat same gameplay feeling.

The leveling shall be something like

1-10 Initiate

20-30 Space Marine

50-60 Captain/Honor Guard

There is a post in a some forum, whats so ever.
The same system works for all factions.

The game will be split in two factions.

Order (Humans, Eldar)
Chaos (Orcs, Chaos)

Also they said, that Tau and Dark Eldar will appear, just like Tyranids and also the Necrons.
Probably all playable (not confirmed)

And the humans can be put in two different fractions with 3 Variants each.

Space Marines - Assault, Tactical and devastator Marine, just like Space Marine the game.
And you can play as the Imperium, but I have forgotten the classes. Same applies for Chaos though.

i still think an rpg game where you play as an inquisitor would be sick. or one where you play as a commissar
So... A game about Ciaphas Cain.
Thus... A game where you spend your time hiding behind things and running away?
(wow, that sounds so much like GoW...)

I?m not sure this is a good idea, as iv heard rumours that Dark Millennium may go the warhammer online order/destruction route. i.e. orks and chaos, Eldar and the Imperium on the other side.

I've always wondered since the MMO was announced. Why didn't they call 40k "Dark Millenium" instead? It's much more badass, and fits the universe.

Dark Millenium was name of one of the expansions for 2nd edition 40k, so whilst name is tied to the IP it came too late to be the main name of warhammer 40k.

I have to hold off any excitement for a game 2 years out. I have been disappointed with recent entries, but I have a feeling my interests and choices are changing quickly.
