All hail 3-Dog, glorious DJ of the atomic wastes and player of catchy 50s music.

Seriously, I'd love to see him come back for a sequel. Perhaps they're setting the next game in New York? Then again, that city's been incredibly overused in gaming.
As far as I'm aware, the plan has been for it to be in Boston for a while. The Commonwealth, which, if I haven't forgotten my Fallout lore, is an extremely unique environment in the known Wasteland. They even teased it with one of the main plot characters in FO3 (Doctor Li, I believe) who went there on her own.

Awesome! Well mostly...Is there a petition to get the next Fallout on the Wii U yet? The gamepad would make for an awesome real-time Pipboy for example...
While that would be cool, I don't want Bethesda to sacrifice development time so they can port it to the wii.

ALL OF MY YES!!!

Though, on a more measured note, I found Fallout 3 to be one of the best games Bethesda has made (I perfer New Vegas, but thats beside the point). It has they're best writing, quests, and even corrected the travesties in Depth that Oblivion committed (Though that Said i still really liked Oblivion)

I just REALLY of hope they dont follow the Skyrim trail again and dumb down more shit for newcommers to the series

I hope Fallout 4 learns from the brilliant Fallout NV. A wide diversity of endings which change for every location and major character depending on your interaction with them, a superior morality system that extends beyond the boring standard binary good/evil choices, a darker and edger theme, better character development for your companions and side content that felt more influential in the game world.

I've always had a suspicion that Fallout NV was designed to be experimental in many things it did so that beth soft could adopt the most successful and popular innovations and build upon them (I mean, weapon modding, disguises, survival stuff, faction game play, the dual morality system, the localised morality system, modular ending design etc)

Given the way they were willing to alter the leveling system in TES to include 'perks' from their experiences with FO3, because they found people liked them I think we will see adoption of some of the best and most popular features of FO:NV hopefully taken a further step.

Its nice when you see two innovative groups bouncing ideas between themselves.

I do not think he would be in command of the Brotherhood. He did not seem the "Commander" type. Perhaps the Public Relations person. I think the Brotherhood would be able to recruit and increase their ranks because of his calls. With increase of manpower, they could spread out and form a new nation (like the NCR did). Perhaps even explore the... dang forgot the groups name, Commonwealth(?)... and see the new technological advances (or old, because of reinventing stuff) they did. They were not that far away from the Capital wastes anyway.
That is true I guess. The Lone Wonderer is the kind of person who likes to get his hands dirty instead of leading and giving orders.
And I could see him as an "Icon" for the BoS but not apart of it.

Honestly if my guy did anything it would be either...

- Wonder the country by himself (Well he is the Lone Wonderer) killing threats, helping good factions and killing bad guys. So basically he would become a wasteland legend.

- Make his own faction. Devoted to doing good and etc.

But hey... we have not idea what the cannon ending or Lone Wonderer would be... but I would like to see him again. D:

The Idea of a fallout game with a new shiny polished engine makes me excited

the Idea of it being made by bethesda..... cautiously optimistic..if not a little disapointed

If it is as good as New Vegas, I will buy it. New Vegas sold me on the series although I'm going to wait for a good sale before picking up 3.
3 was better. Sure they did not have some of the game play that made NV good, like the faction standings and a slightly better barter system. But they lost ground on the storytelling, and your character just seemed not to have any back-story (just the base game, I do not know if Lonesome Road added or not).
But the writing in Fallout 3 was horrible and riddled with plotholes you could drive a 727 through.

Awesome. Fallout 3 was fun, though I still feel that New Vegas added some desperately needed improvements. Namely on repair.

Then again, I may be biased, due to my love affair with Jury Rigging. Seriously, that perk is a must-have. And I love it so, so much.

So, really, I'd love a Fallout 3 sequel, so long as they carry over the repair system from New Vegas, complete with repair kits you can craft, and the Jury Rigging perk. That would be perfect.

Also, good to see Three Dog again. The guy had style.

I desperately hope this is more East Coast lunacy. Maybe New York, or even Toronto or Anchorage. I'd LOVE to see a Fallout set in a cold climate. New story, huge history, new kind of hardcore mode.
Whoa whoa whoa, you're probably just mentioning it because it was DLC for Fallout 3, but Anchorage so far from the east coast that it's further west than the entire west coast! [https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=Anchorage,+AK,+United+States&hl=en&ll=53.706481,-100.169292&spn=79.504404,188.613281&sll=53.796105,-68.44248&sspn=39.183087,94.306641&oq=anchorage&t=v&hnear=Anchorage,+Alaska,+United+States&z=3&iwloc=A]
I know this. I got excited and my mind ran away on me.

Good to hear they skipped NV and went for what look like a Fallout 3 "sequel"

Fallout 3 was totally mind-blowingly amazing. NV was like the mutated half-creature of that binary.

Lookin' foward to it.
Scratch that...reverse it. I say fie to Fallout 4, I'll have Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity to keep me warm at night. Also Three Dog is the reason I never listened to the radio in Fallout 3...just terrible VA.

EDIT: Hmmmm I'll also have Shadowrun Returns and probably Cyberpunk 2077 as well...Bethesda are going to struggle to get a look in o my PC.

What do you mean? I thought Fallout 3's writing was a bit silly, but plotholes?

I killed him because I could not stand his voice anymore.

Not like Bethesda ports player choice over anyway.
I killed him because he, like everything else in that game, had a completely illogical existence and ruined my verisimilitude at every turn.

3 felt like you were changing the political landscape of the Capital wastes, helping the Brotherhood establish their nation, Or helping no one but yourself.

In NV, all the towns looked and felt the same. But in 3, Each one had a different life to it. From Megaton, a town in a crater that was formed by an unexploded nuke (some people worshiped the bomb). To Underworld, a town in the US Natural History Museum made up of goules.
Fair enough. That's a reasonable subjective opinion.

While NV didn't have character backstory I really didn't feel that it was detrimental.

But I couldn't stand the story and world in Fallout 3. When I'm playing an RPG I expect the quests to make some sort of logical sense. New Vegas did this well. Fallout 3 has a city built around an unexploded nuclear bomb for no discernible reason, gives you the option to explode said nuclear bomb for an absurd reason.

The less said about Little Lamplight the better. There are a myriad of other gripes with characters and locations that made me roll my eyes. Little retconns that Bethesda indulged in that made the Fallout universe fall apart.

I will admit that the Fallout 3 map was perhaps more fun to get around than New Vegas but I'll take verisimilitude and narrative over "fun".

I'd love to see a Fallout set outside of the US but I know that's a pipedream. A fallout set in and around Moscow would be really interesting, Beijing and Shanghai too, see the devastation from the other side.

They could even do a Fallout London, it is one of the most interesting cities in the world.

Hopefully you can make a character in this one that has hair like a black person's other than some kind of afro and a low cut.

I knew that there would be a Fallout Four but I hope that it doesn't take place exclusively in DC again. Maybe on the East Coast as a whole...

Anyways, it will be awesome to see how they will tweak the game since the lesson learned from Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim.
I'm hoping they go with the whole coast then, but who's to say 3-Dog didn't move elsewhere where freedom fighters need encouragement, now that DC is liberated and stuff? He's that kind of character, I think.

I won't pretend that it's even slightly surprising that a new addition to a popular, multi-million-selling videogame franchise is in the works, but the potential presence of Three Dog certainly is.
It surprised me when Kotaku did this article and it was something along the lines of '*Gasp* Is it possible they're making a Fallout 4?'

This should not be a surprise to anyone. If they're making sequels to stuff like Scary Movie, you better believe they're going to make a sequel to a popular game. The question is merely 'when', not 'if'.
