Hubilub, you've piqued my interest in these movies, and since Netflix has them on streaming, I think I'll give it a whirl later tonight.
I know I should be happy and proud of myself when people say this, but actually, I just get really scared.

"What if they don't like it? Then I have made them waste money and they hate me!"

This is why I prefer to stick with reviewing bad stuff >.>

Went out and watched this from the recommendation. Gotta like the fact that LoveFilm were giving me free streaming films for an extra week.

Anyway, great films. Personally my favourite was Dumplings, which was absolutely sickening. Cut was a very interesting film, and the ending leaves a lot of interpretation. Box was my least favourite, but I still enjoyed it. It had a lot of tension in it.

Also, good review.

Ooh! Added to queue and I can actually give this a watch today. I have a couple Japanese horror films to watch now. It's time to sit back and be terrified!
If you are watching it today, then you must get back to me about how it was!

I am curious!
Dumplings - ew. I'm going to be hearing that sound of chewing in my head whenever I see people eat dumplings from now on. Put me right off my lunch it did. The Foley work on that was excellent, in that it disgusted me wholeheartedly. Especially the little crunches. Blurgh.
I too am very fond of the sound-effects and how they are used. Especially when it ends with a fade to black, and all we can hear is the crunching sounds over and over.

And the bathroom scene. Oh god the bathroom scene.
The bathroom scene is pretty freaking awful. And that actress does creepy smile really well. The camera stays on her just long enough for that look to give me shivers. I'm shivering now just thinking about it.

That is a fair point. How would the killer try to torment him after the first way is rendered pointless? I don't think the Killer would be satisfied until the person on the couch was dead, and since he can't do it himself, he would have to figure out some other way. Perhaps do a similar trap with the actress from the movie.

Although had he done that, we would have walked into full-length movie territory, and I'd rather have this as a short film, if only for the novelty.
Yeah, I definately liked the shorter format. But I demand my directors bend time and space to make full length movies into shorts!!

The direction they took was excellent. My mind just tends to get away with me when I watch these things and I re-write them in my head.

The final scene with her just looking out of the balcony door completely caught me off guard. It was a very poignant scene, one that just leaves you with a "... woa" expression after the movie is done.

As for picking a favorite, that is a tricky question. I like them all a lot, and they all leave different impressions.

I think I'll go with Cut on this one, mostly because it feels so refreshing to see such a premise executed well.
And was it just me, or was the doll that was being folded into the box freakily realistic? It's face in particular.

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion!

And that tongue thing she does just... Ischlo pischlo! Sends shivers down my spine.

I can see it in front of me already...

Meganmeave: The Movie! Watch as she bends time and space to her will so that she may enjoy movies the way she wants to!

Nope, wasn't you.

It's probably very plot relevant, like how the father controls the children without them having free will or something. BUT THINKING IS DULL, WE NEED MORE STEM CELL RESEARCH DUMPLINGS!

This is just about the only thread where it's actually context appropriate to bring up Takashi Miike's (the man behind THE BOX of 3 extremes), to bring up his other short film entry for the masters of horror series:

Imprint
