It's the push for HD. It's damned annoying, it also cuts off a good deal of games from my lovely small TV. It seems I can't play current gen games anymore unless I've got HD or a big TV. I fucking hate the HD push.
This.

The small font like that is meant for an HDTV, so if you get an HDTV, that stuff is easily visible. It's dumb, but that's what they do.

I remember trying to play Arkham Asylum on a SDTV I could not read the subtitles or even make out the basic shape of them.

So, not to sound like an unsympathetic weasel or anything but I got a 40" LCD for real cheap* and never looked back, so I luckily don't really have to worry much about this...

However, in the spirit of helping those with older TV's what I'd do if I was a game designer is just make it a menu option for switching between Standard Definition and High Definition interfaces. Namely, the Standard Definition interface will have text boxes and larger font.

I noticed that right after I'd gotten the X-Box360. It fucking sucks, because my vision is slightly near-sighted, which makes the smaller text even more difficult to read. I managed to find a pair of retardedly huge framed glasses from a thrift store for 15 cents that clears everything up, but isn't very comfortable and makes me look like a freak.

As someone who plays on a monitor which is next to his PC, I have to say "No, I haven't noticed."

Probably because I am sat right in front of it.

Yes games with tiny font like deadrising pissed me off. No I can't afford HD and I frankly don't care to get it.

I've tried using my 360 on two different TV's.

The one in my room is an SD TV, but it's 28", widescreen, flatscreen (old school flatscreen, so the TV unit itself is HUGE at the back) and I frequently struggle to read stuff.

I also played on the TV in my parent's bedroom (not had a chance to try the household main TV, as mum and dad don't want my 360 in there, trying their TV was just a test) and despite it being just 17 or 19", because it is HD, it was great for reading on.

I can't afford a new TV, heck, I couldn't afford to buy a 360, I bought a used one off a mate. The reason why I have a "big" (for the room) TV in my room is because mum and dad got a 42" LCD HD TV, so I got the old one from the living room. Why should I have to pay the price of a new console, which I couldn't afford for the console, just to play my games well?

All my other consoles work fine on it (no ps3, but a Wii and various retro consoles), and I don't have any HD media. No blu-ray, no HD-DVD, heck, I don't even watch TV channels on my TV, it's purely for gaming!
