Titan AE

I watched it again a couple of years ago. Great movie, although I still scratch my head about how a sentient life form can be made of pure energy.

Its hippy logic.

All energy is mass condensed to a slower vibration, thus, mass must be able to evolve to exist in a pure energy state.

Kinda neutral about titan AE. The attempt to merge CGI and 2D drawn characters could've benefited from sitting down and watching heavy metal to learn what not to do.

I saw it on my tenth (Or was it ninth?) birthday. It was good. Not The Iron Giant good, but good.

Is it as good or better than The Iron Giant?

Nothing beats the Iron Giant, but this is one of Don Bluth's best films, alongside The Secret of Nimh and The Land Before Time.

Its a seamless blend of 2D and CGI animation, and is a lot more mature than most animated films.

Treasure Planet and Titan AE were awesome, I watched them both. There needs to be more of these movies, because I dont think there's enough. Its a lot better than other teletoon shows

That's Treasure Planet, Disney's attempt to cash in on sci-fi.

I can't help but feel that movie would have been a lot better without the Daddy issues.

I remember watching it and liking it, but I was young, and I mean, like, four or five, when I first saw it. I do, however, remember loving the soundtrack to itty bitty pieces, and I still do, but I don't actually remember the movie all that much.

I would have just dropped the whole adaptation altogether, and just make a cool sci-fi movie. Doesn't need to be Treasure Island in space, just something like Space Pirates.

Saw it in theaters...was Fox Animation Studios last 2-D film...actually closed it down before the "Ice Age" films kicked it back up. It was also the last theatrical release directed by "American Tail" and "Land Before Time"'s Don Bluth.

I liked it. Was rather "Star Wars"-ian...and the chemistry between Cale and Akima, though a touch odd, kinda worked. Wasn't much for Janeane Garofalo as that kangaroo-alien, though...and Nathan Lane as the bad guy?! Couldn't make it click. Bill Pullman as Corso, though - with his double- and triple-crosses - was spot-on.

Still, I can see why this film didn't make the bling the previous FOX/Bluth collab "Anastasia" did. WAY too dark...and not just the setting, either. This was NOT an animated film for the kiddies. "Anastasia" wasn't really, either,...but at least Bartok the bat gave kids SOMETHING to laugh at. "Titan A.E."...no such creature. Cool action, interesting story...but not kid-friendly in the least. Hence why it only made in the box office HALF of what it took to PRODUCE it...and why Bluth went hiding in shame.

Good film for me when I was 29, though...wish I had the DVD.

So, I just finished watching Titan AE on Teletoon, and I forgot how much I loved this movie.
Its a great representative of what can be achieved through western animation. The characters are likable, the voice work is great, and the visuals are beautiful.

I used to watch this as a kid, and I still love it.

Did anyone else here catch it? What did you think?

I did watch it as well as a kid. Probably the best western animated film that I have seen. For me, it's just as good as an anime.

One thing is did notice this time around was the voice actors. Ron Perlman was Cale's dad!? Nathan Lane was Preed!? It induced a Keanu worthy "Whoa."

From what I've heard (haven't seen it, but my friend has it in his comically large movie collection), it was when Don Bluth momentarily got out of his 90's rut, albeit with some help from Joss Whedon. It also tanked due to the ever-menacing animation age ghetto, sadly.
