I like this idea. Obviously cheating is a shitty thing to do, but completely losing access to a game you paid 60+ dollars for seems like a harsh punishment even for that.

Though I'm honestly curious what the matches between cheaters would be like because it seems like they could be even more interesting than the main game.
That would be interesting to watch. All the cheaters trying to figure out the intricacies of other peoples' hacks and cheats so that they could kill the other players without being killed themselves.

It'd probably be a frustrating mess but in my head it looks like chess.
It sounds like a weird sort of battle of wits, but we all know it wouldn't happen. I reckon a big reason for cheating is a low tolerance for frustration or a very high need to "succeed", if you will. Neither urge is sated on an all-cheater server, so I'd guess they'd just log out within minutes.

"CAN YOU FEEL ZE SCHADENFREUDE?"
That's awesome. Non-cheaters get to play the game hassle-free while cheaters get a taste of their own medicine. Heck, it might provide some fun entertainment to boot. I know I for one would be up for viewing all-cheater matches on Twitch. Watching a bunch of people speedhacking, wallhacking and aimbotting all at the same time would be trippy as hell.

A game where everyone has aimbots and wallhacks built into the engine.....it'd be like some sort of psycho FPS game of chess....

So if you invite a cheater and you don't know it you will be banned as well to cheater hell? So that the assholes can lure you down and everything will be like before?

You'll only be down there as long as you're playing with the cheater (assuming you're not one yourself). Fuck 'em off, and you'll be back amongst the living.

OT: Good. I like systems like this. I'll also join in the chorus of people asking to watch one of these games. Hell, I'm half tempted to buy the PC version, cheat and get sent to Hell, just to see what it was like. Maybe stream it myself..... [small]make loads of internet money....[/small]

I remember having a slightly similar idea back in the days when I played Modern Warfare: find all of the campers, put them on a server where they aren't allowed to move, and see how much fun they have camping.

What does camping have to do with cheating? PROPER camping takes skill, tactics, map knowledge and a good sense of when an area is spent. (something that 95% of campers lack. Which makes them free kills). In fact the mark of a good player is knowing when to run in and when to hold back in a safe position.

That being said, I feel this is an excellent system (if not all that innovative). It keeps your player base up (which means you still have a bunch of possible DLC buyers that otherwise might be gone) while effectively still eliminating the issue for non-cheaters.

Plus it might just show some people just how shitty and un-fun it is to play with cheats, which is a plus for multiplayer gaming as a whole.

Nah, it wouldn't be as interesting as that. Mostly because you can just start spamming your weapon as soon as you spawn and kill basically everything on the map (regardless of obstacles, vision, etc). It would just be a frustrating game of "who has the lowest ping/wins the respawn lottery"

Heck, they actually made a lot of what would be hacks in other games into legit game features via the burn cards and pilot equipment. Wallhack? You get the radar pulses that let you see through walls for a limited time (or permanently for one "life" with a rare burn card). Speedhack? Adrenaline boost (also permanent for one life via rare cards). Aimbot? Smart pistol.

The best part is, they made them FUN by balancing and properly integrating them into the game.

Camping isn't cheating, if it works it's good strategy. It's not a glitch or cheat, it's playing smart.

OT: Sounds brilliant, wonder if it'll teach anyone not to cheat.
Well then, good thing I never said it was.
I need to quit typing, every time I do it shows my stupidity. Seemed like you were saying the two were equal, got distracted again back to typing, um................yeah my bad.
He did kind of imply it, so don't feel too bad.

Well, you were implying you find it at at least comparable to what cheaters do, otherwise you would suggest the same punishment. 'Campers' should to be cordoned off to their own server... for playing the game in a legitimate, yet different, way than you. What's next? Move all the 'hardscopers' to their own server aswell?

I've always that it would be really fun for everyone to have cheats. Say, superspeed, flying, aimbot; it would be one clusterfuck of a match. Probably the best fun you'd ever have, rather than cheating on hapless innocents.

Have to say, I'm very fond of this solution (and actually kinda curious why more people haven't already done it, since I've heard of it being implemented before). Gets cheaters out of fair players' hair? Check. Doesn't prevent people from playing a game they paid a big pile of money for (without single player no less)? Check. Doesn't doom false positives? Check. Allows those fair players who still want to play with the alleged cheater to do so? Check. Lovely idea. Hope there's a means by which a player labeled a cheater may eventually earn their way back into regular games. Turn "cheater hell" into a sort of purgatory. A few people might actually learn their lesson that way.

This is similar to what GTA Online did, except rather than just cheaters, they throw griefers, assorted a-holes such as people who leave missions early and whatnot in there together. And make all their avatars wear dunce caps. I like this better than an outright ban.

That's pretty surprising, in a good way. It's like cheaters have a wider array of tools at their disposal so pitting them against eachother evens the odds. It also makes non-cheating gamers happy by making the n00b cheaters get destroyed by the good ones so it feels exactly the same way it made non-cheaters feel.

It also gives microsoft the ability to watch cheaters and learn from what they're doing.

I wonder if the future will have cheater lobbies that players can enter and cheat in at will as long as they don't cheat in the other lobbies (which would then lock the other lobbies to them).

Make it really cool and let normal players play in cheating lobbies. If you can practice in those and still win you could run shop in normal servers. Make it happen respawn. At the very least lets get some live streams of these cheat lobbies.

Why on Earth would normal players want to play in cheating lobbies? It isn't skill testing when someone is cheating, not unless the cheater is trying to mask how much they're cheating to where it's possible for a non-cheater to beat them.

These will basically be games where the good cheaters will be ganging up on the weaker ones. Non-cheaters in the mix would be like ants.

This would be like recommending people go box a wall because if they box a wall then they'll be good at boxing people.
