I signed up yesterday for the One, now just sitting...waiting....fingers crossed. I have a friend that has played it already and he cannot stop drooling about this game, so I am really looking forward to it.
Oh, I never said I didn't like Planetside 2. I was just saying that everything I've seen and everything I've heard from people who've actually had time with the game (alpha) demonstrates to me how incredibly frantic Titanfall is. Far more than any of my experiences with PS2, BF, etc.Shadow-Phoenix said:It'd rather funny, I was playing Planetside 2 a while ago, I had no choice but to log off because the server I played on had too many enemy in sheer numbers that dwarfed my faction and since that game runs off massive numbers you cannot take them on alone, nor with a big team, it has to be greater than them or nothing.
With that said I'd much prefer this style of gameplay alongside Planetside 2, hopping between both games sounds decent enough.
Psh, are you kidding?Don't look now but the naysayers have arrived, time to grab the popcorn.

You got hyped so now you are acting like a brain dead sheep (a.k.a. the prefect costumer) happily following other brain dead sheep and giving away your wool to the first guys with scissors (EA).
But if you actually turn you brain back on you would realize that every game looks frantic and hectic and super-fun in trailers.
Oh really? I thought it was an EA game, so are they just distributing it like they did for kingdoms of Amular(I think)? If so I may consider it, having to get Origin would suck but if the game is as good as the hype for it is then it may be worth it. If it's not an EA game then I feel much better about the chance of being able to enjoy it without tons of extra costs.Vigormortis said:Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha....hehehhheheeheheh...hoo, hmm, heh....milijanko said:Well you see, you have a problem there. That was a good one.
Yeah. Reported.

But you know what? Even though it's probably a waste of time, I'll give a response anyway.
This ISN'T an EA game. I was interested in Titanfall long before Respawn signed on with EA as the distributor.
And that's all EA has in this venture. They are the distributor.
All production and design decisions for the game rest squarely on the shoulders of Respawn. As does, along with Microsoft, the quality and stability of the Azure servers.
Maybe if you spent a little time actually researching what you're talking about, you wouldn't hop onto forums and make a fool of yourself by insulting other posters with nonsense.
Respawn started production of Titanfall before they signed on with EA for distribution.Dandark said:Oh really? Did I say that? I'm pretty sure I didn't say that. Did I say that?MinionJoe said:So EA isn't going to make any money on this title?
Hardly.
EA may not own Respawn outright, but they're balls-deep in Titanfall.
It's not so much that I dislike Origin as a client. I just hate EA and don't want their stuff on my pc, im also really reluctant with having a game library trusted to them. While I trust Steam and Valve enough to feel comfortable having a sizeable game library on Steam I hold only distrust for EA.Vigormortis said:Respawn started production of Titanfall before they signed on with EA for distribution.Dandark said:Oh really? In fact, one could argue Respawn is more closely associated with Microsoft because of their extensive use of Microsoft's Azure servers.
As for Origin: yeah it's a less-than-ideal client. And now it's even copying the look of the Steam Storefront UI. However, it's not some gigantic piece of spyware nor is it a resource hog, and it's not the colossal piece of rubbish some say it is. And in the end, one can just close the program when not playing Titanfall.
That is a good stance to have, and one you should also have Steam.Dandark said:It's not so much that I dislike Origin as a client. Well, in this instance, the Alpha was a test bed for the basic infrastructure and functionality of the game. The Beta is a stress test of the servers. If the game is good enough then I may get Origin just to play titanfall but its going to have to be pretty good to make it worth installing origin for it and im not sure it will be that good yet. The beta/demo(This is EA, its a glorified demo this close to release) will be good since I can hear peoples opinions on it afterwards.
I love the incredibly condescending comments people around here make when talking to anyone who shows the smallest hint of interest in Titanfall.MinionJoe said:Ah! I see the confusion. You're assuming that EA is just the distributor.
You must be unaware that Titanfall was also funded through the EA Partners program.
The same program that had clear, detrimental effects on titles such as Doublefine's Brutal Legend and Starbreeze Studios' Syndicate.
And that's without assuming that just-a-distributor wouldn't leverage their advantage on a studio to increase their cut. Which EA has done before as well.
But if you with to continue to delude yourself that Titanfall is the second coming of Halo, well, far be it from me to invalidate the "reasoning" behind your pre-order.
Have fun!
EA account doesn't bother me as much as having to install an Origin client.mechalynx said:It will in a way. If I'm not mistaken, you will be forced to sign in to your EA accound, jjst like with Mass Effect 2/3 and Kingdom of Amalur for all your online activities and DLC authentification even after post-payment(if they're still being dicks about that).Lightknight said:Ugh, forgot about the Origin bullshit. Why do I keep getting exicted when I see this game and forget that it requires Origin?
Hopefully the 360 version won't require an Origin subscription because it looks like that's the only way I'll be getting it.
That's what I'm starting to loathe about this place let alone Destructoid, the same mentality of people that hate what you for the first time in years like, I've been wanting a game like this for quite some time and no other game before has done it for me until TF showed up.Vigormortis said:I love the incredibly condescending comments people around here take when talking to anyone who shows the smallest hint of interest in Titanfall.
It speaks volumes about the mindset of those posters.
And let's be honest here: Brutal Legend and Syndicate had FAR bigger issues than being distributed under EA's Partners program.
But hey, if you want to continue to think literally everything associated with EA, no matter how involved (or not involved) EA is, is the "worst thing ever" and is the bane of the industry, well, far be it from me to invalidate the "reasoning" behind your hate.
Have fun!
[sub]For the record: I'm not really a big fan of Halo, so your analogy is ludicrous.[/sub]
Pretty sure I know the scene you're talking about. A shame we don't have any more media of that quality! Don't know why but I finally signed up after years of ad hoc forum visits just to reply! Guess I'm really enjoying MLA and felt like sharing the love!
There was however this one scene in MLA that felt a bit off .. like .. wtf am i reading/watching .. You probably know what I'm talking about if you made it that far![]()

Maybe Titanvil will be the second-coming of not-Halo. If it is, I will be suitably put in my place. But given historical evidence and recent trends, I'm unlikely to feel anything but vindicated.
And I so do enjoy that feeling...
You're wasting your time. He's already made up his mind. (Which is ironic given how much he's accusing others of doing the same.)Shadow-Phoenix said:YEs let's turn this thread into a total shitfest, lets enjoy pissing others off on sheer purpose because it gets me all jolly inside...
You're doing it all over again by the way.
And yet...In the meantime, it's far more FUN to hate on EA for what they have done rather than fanwank over an unreleased title that might not be a bug-riddled mess of microtransactions.
Could Titanfall be good and worth a purchase, yes. Could it also have major problems attached due to bugs and issues with Origin, yes. I think it would be best to wait to see how Titanfall goes or until people in the beta talk talking.Shadow-Phoenix said:That's what I'm starting to loathe about this place let alone Destructoid, the same mentality of people that hate what you for the first time in years like, I've been wanting a game like this for quite some time and no other game before has done it for me until TF showed up.Vigormortis said:I love the incredibly condescending comments people around here take when talking to anyone who shows the smallest hint of interest in Titanfall.

Fucking bullshit is what that is, I'm getting inches closer day bay day to outwardly telling people on here to fuck off, tired of getting my opinion shoved in the backseat, tired ot Steam always getting the shitty praise, tired of PC's getting the last fucking word, tired of the same arguments used against a game someone likes.

Yeah, that antagonistic mindset is pretty common in all forums these days, really. That doesn't make it any less frustrating, though.Shadow-Phoenix said:That's what I'm starting to loathe about this place let alone Destructoid, the same mentality of people that hate what you for the first time in years like, I've been wanting a game like this for quite some time and no other game before has done it for me until TF showed up.

I can tell you're not going to last very long here judging by having not read the TOS that was recently renewed here.milijanko said:But well, I guess even that one flew over your head, not uncommon amongst hyped up, overly defensive fanboys![]()
Yeah, alright. You could go about it in a more pleasant way. Look at Vigormortis' and Shadow-Phoenix's respones to your posts. Do they look like people who are about to be convinced by your arguments? No, all you've done is pissed them off. And when you use language like "fanwank" and "delude yourself" it's no surprise that they've done so.MinionJoe said:I'm honestly not mad at anyone for expressing their opinion, but I would very much like to change some of those opinions. Unfortunately, it usually takes a person getting personally screwed over by EA for that to happen. Believe it or not, I'm just trying to give people some resistance to the shock when it does happen.
Still surprised no one has mentioned an EA game that met expectations. They used to be an awesome company. I'd played M.U.L.E. and Pinball Construction Set on my C-64 for years and Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight on Tandy 1000. Of course, that was well before the age of mass media marketing, so they probably don't count.
