Right from the beginning, way back in 2004.

Me and my brothers were/are huge fans of the Warcraft series since the first game, and subsequently bought the sequels as they came. Naturally, when we heard about WoW we practically crapped our pants in excitement.

I'm personally very off-and-on, having "quit" and played again many times and have been off for more than a year, but I still follow the lore, and what they have been doing to in Azeroth very closely. Cataclysm might bring me back in. Either way, I eagerly await the next expansion.

On and off player, when it's fun ill play but obviously you'll get bored of it like any other game.
started during the opening of an quira with a night elf hunter and a great guild. Was pretty damn magical.
Now i play in an rl friends only horde guild...well i dont have an active account right now but when i do i play with them as a druid

Was too young for Vanilla, but I started a few months (like 5) after BC came out. Have now played for 3 years I think.. Perhaps four..

.......no one who has played for 5 years plays too often...im almost at 6? i think and at this point...i think everyone who has played for that long 1. its part of there life...i mean common 5 years...and 2. they know when they need to go out and what not....how to live. and yes...i am waiting for cata..AND TO ANYONE ELSE...who here who has played wow for a number of years has achealy found good friends over wow...

Well yeah, its 5 years for been and I basicly havent played it half a year and even last 2 years were rotaition of 2 months of playing, 2 months of "Im sick of this game, its boring and I wont play it ever again" but now Ill probably get back again...

I started playing about late 2007, i watched the Make love not warcraft episode on South park and gave it a shot.

Played it constantly since then, but i am getting bored of it now, im waiting on Cataclysm to get me hooked again

When did you first start playing WoW? And what were your very first thoughts about it.

I started my first trial account on the exact day Burning crusade was released. I started playing as a night elf rouge, and i found the game extremely enjoyable, but i can't put my finger on why. The player base was fun to play around with, especially going in a group and taking on tough challenges. And the scenery and largeness of the open world was very appealing. I didn't touch it much after that because i never got any money, so i had to keep playing trials. (played about 5 trials on different races) Then i finally made my first real account on the day wotlk was released. I still like it to this day and i really have been thinking of buying Cataclysm.

So when did you start playing?

Ah, a fellow Rouge. I played Rouge since BC, then they nerfed the blush mechanic and decided to to focus solely on the Make-up tree. I mean, what was a lipstick specced Rouge like me to do?





....*kaff*, anyway, I started playing just before Burning Crusade came out, so I really didn't have to deal with all the grindy classic stuff, just, you know, the grindy BC stuff. Still fun though, I switched my main to a Draenei as soon as I could and had a lot of fun with my guild. I was on an RP server for much of that time, don't listen to all the tales of bad sex roleplay, it's actually really fun. The roleplay, not the sex roleplay...though even that has it's diehards.

Not really, but I had great guild and many people from there were my friends but I couldnt carry on when Wotlk came out because my PC was too slow back then. But I gues I can say I have one friend like that left and I could even say he is my best friend.

I started on Day1 of WoW's History and my first fights were as a shaman against the enemies in the starting area. Only when i reached lvl 5 i met the first other human player, who told me that i played NOT a shaman. I didn't believe him, but after he told me how to open the charactersheet i saw that he was right and i that i was playing a druid. The fact that i just wasted over an HOUR of playtime on a character i didn't want to play, almost made me quit wow all together.

But oh well, i started fresh and after wasting 5 more years of my life and becoming the best Player on each of my servers (i went through 4 of them) an having achieved pretty much everything that there is to achieve in WoW, i decicded that i ruined enough time with way to easy content and quit wow for good. Wasn't that easy tbh.

Today i play SC2, which is great because i totaly suck at the game. Finally some challenge again!

hmmm i started a long time ago using a friends account...i found it was fun in small doses but im not really a grinder so i could never play more than an hour at a time

In my oppinion it gets a bit stale after level ten...though thats my noobish oppinion

Been playing since 2007, my big brother's friends played it... and my brother once tried it and told me how awesome it was. After that I was sickly hyped to try it, and as a pure coincidence, my friends had also just got hyped about it.

So, we started playing and it was very, VERY awesome for me as I had never played a MMO before. I still look back on the days of being a noob. How much fun it was... I didnt care about epics or shinies, or high damage. It was just the universe itself that was so appealing.

Now that I have like, 5 level 80s and been raiding from the start of Wotlk to ICC was released I must say I'm really bored of the game, yet I keep logging on just to talk with all the friends I've made.

My cousin was the first to play it, then he got my brother onto it, and he then dragged me.
This was way back when it was new, in vanilla.
Played it pretty hardcore for 2 years, got bored, took a few years off, and about 2 months ago have just jumped back in. I guess I'm on of the lucky ones who doesn't get hooked to it.

Really, I'm only playing it as something to while away the time until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out <3

I started playing WOW in 16/05/05 according to my account history. Clearly the fact I still play it shows just how much I enjoyed it and still enjoy it I guess.

On the release day in 2004 and I was like "well this is interesting, might like it on bigger lvl". Now I got too many lvl 80's on like 3 different servers and made around 30 pals that I actually keep in touch with.

Started playing when it was released and like with every other game I own, I play it on and off. I enjoy it even though it has its problems (yay for no real raid progression)

Also, am I the only person who's sick of WoW players being expected to be apologists for playing the game?

Vanilla Beta, though I never signed up (as far as I can remember) I think my best friend did lol. Been hooked from then on.

I played the trial but I did not enjoy the game sadly. Though I did enjoy WAR which is a WoW clone I have no idea why, but it just had something that appealed to me more.
