I am 35 and own over $4000 in consoles and games. I own several gaming PCs and scores of Steam and boxed PC games.
Ha! I'm 19 and got around 4000 euros spend on games alone. With all the hardware included it'll get around 7000-ish. That's almost $9000!

I've told people before, they told me that was kinda embarrassing, they told me it was kinda sad, they told me I could've spend that money a lot better. But you know what? I'm anything BUT ashamed for it! I love games, I'm passionate about them. Yes I spend a fuckton of money on them, but it was worth every. single. penny. Well, ignoring some unfortunate purchases, but even they learned me something.

That should tell you enough,

Exactly, just do what makes you happy. If people think that's sad then fuck 'em.

Do I find it funny when a senior citizen waves a Wii remote around? Why, yes. Yes I do.

I'll put it this way. They'll have to pry my mouse from my cold, dead, arthritis crippled hands.

why should the age matter? as long as you are not a creepy 40 year old guy playing pokemon so he can score that hot sexy little 6 year old from across the street.

also i will keep on gaming even if it means i have to cut all my connections to the rest of the human race.

As long as it doesn't consume your life, enjoy.
Games have a real tendency to do that. I think it's the reason people tend to laugh at gamers over 20. It's odd for a thirty-something to be dedicating 6 hours a week to pew-pew-pew.

I've been gaming since the dawn of video games ie the Atari 2600 as have many others that grace these forums.
Age has nothing to do with what you can do or cannot do imho.

I just turned 19. My mom saw me playing my old gameboy advance and said something along the lines of, "Honey, you're a legal adult now, don't you think it's time you put those things away and grew up?".

I'm happily going into my second year of university, I've had a steady boyfriend for two years, and I'm in the process of looking for a job. The way I see it, I'm a functioning adult and have my life pretty much under control. If I want to play a game or two on the side to relax, that's my choice and I've earned it. It's certainly more intellectually stimulating than the way my mom spends her leisure time, that is, by watching hour after hour of mind-numbing, gender insulting "women's programming" on TLC.

Mind you, 19 probably isn't old enough to fall under the category of "too old for games", so I supposed it's all irrelevant anyway.

No, I don't think so, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the responsibilities you acquire as you get older.

Although I hate reading about developers making games shorter as 'most gamers now have jobs and families'. That's just bullshit.
that is a sad excuse to make shorter games, so what if most gamers have familys and jobs, that dosen't mean they won't play a long game, they get to enjoy it longer if it is a longer game.Sad, sad excuse that is.

OT:i will never be too old for gaming as long as my arthiritis(sorry if i spelled it wrong) can keep up then i will game on!

So I just turned 20 a week ago and have been gaming for as long as I can remember and I dont ever plan on stopping. My dad's 47 years old and is a gamer (and I mean like God of War, Grand Turismo and Halo, not Peggle and Bejewled) and has been way longer than I. So my question is this, do you guys that you really ever get to old to play video games?
As long as your arthritis doesn't stop you from holding a controller or mouse, you are never too old

Your never too old for gaming. I think that in the late 20's, your probably too old to play childish power fantasies exclusively and extensively, but if you play them as an occasional distraction, or also mix your games up with stuff that has a little more depth to it, then play away untill the day you die. The perspective of games as just for kids is only because A) kids adapted video games, and anyone around for this adaptation is still somewhat young, making the gaming population associated with youth and B) with the growing market for video games, and the young demographic, games get marketed towards the young.

What, you think just because you?re an adult you stop playing? Hell no you don?t, what you play with is the only thing that changes. They are another legitimate form of entertainment much akin to movies.

You might as well just ask if you too old for fun. It?s just one of them stupid questions that come about because people suffer under the dilution that videogames are all nothing but children?s toys.

Until the day comes when I'm a senile, old man suffering from severe dementia and Alzheimer's with debilitating arthritis, I will keep playing games.

No. Gaming a is a hobby. It's just not seen as a legitimate one. If its between fishing or playing Nintendo for an adult hobby I'm going with Nintendo. Although you should probably not spend less time playing games as you age.

I probably wont do it as much when I'm older because I'll be occupied by more important stuff.
