I'm still downloading, but it's kind of hard to feel screwed out of 10 cents.

Even if I use it once, I still bought it. I've found more on the ground, so no loss... other than all of the bloody time to go through that cluttered mess.

I actually cringed at the "Create an Xbox Live Account" when it said "Kinect" in the korner corner after logging in. Look MS[footnote]In this case, Microsoft, you also truly exhibit Menstrual Symptoms.[/footnote], I will NEVER pay for your pathetic excuse for an online service ever again, an I will NEVER buy your Wii-riding Kiinect. And I certainly will NEVER forgive you for ever forcing me to make a bloody "Avatar" that looks like a disproportionate, graphical abortion of cutesiness.

Now if you will excuse me, I am going to continue taking advantage of this lovely sale, thank you, and will then go on with my day. Let's just say that this makes up +1 out of the depressingly otherwise negative cesspool for Microsoft after not making another real Age of Empires game.[footnote]Damn you Halo Wars, Damn you![/footnote]

To those living in Australia, all you have to do to get around the stupid region thing is download the client, then open it and find it to buy in the client and you can get it that way! shame about having to wait a week for the key though :(

You still have to pay the $39.89, but instead of in normal currency you're paying for the torture of using GFWL.

That's pretty reasonable, though, I might have to actually give it a shot.
It's not reasonable at all. I tried installing GFWL and it crashed constantly to the point it made my computer unusable. A close call actually.

Finally got a chance to play for a bit and I have to say... I'm a bit disappointed. I grew up playing AoE and AoEII, and this latest installment just feels clunky. I know it came out five years ago, but the interface just isn't very intuitive, the AI of the units is poor, and the flow of the game just feels wrong.

I know, the client forced me to restart the download 4 time. But hell it was only dime so it was worth it I say.

EDIT: Spell check!

I looked it up... http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/15693.aspx

They're aware of the problem, they're getting more keys, they're leaving the sale up because it's TEN CENTS.

I'd be willing to wait a week for ten cent RTS.
I looked it up too, the post about them being aware of it came in after I looked it up the first time.

I've no problem with waiting a week. But I would be irritated if it was time wasted.

I have had STEAM for years and own dozens of games on it and this has never happened to me even once.
it happens, I've never experienced it personally however they do state this kind of problem via the News tab quite regularly
The difference is, while it does occur with Steam, it is very rare. And, when it does occur, they tend to take the product down, for instance when they ran out of Prey keys a couple years ago they changed the promotional to (I think) Bioshock. Where as here, Microsoft just leaves it up and rakes in money from the gullible and unwary.
Bullshit. It happened just last weekend. Risen was on sale and they san out of keys on Friday. They still sold the game all the way until the end of Sunday without any warning of not having any keys. Microsoft did the exact same thing Valve did, but of course Microsoft must be the evil money hungry one.

That said, anger is perfectly justifiable. It don't make the service shit, not by any means.

i'd rather not waste the memory on my laptop with a game that i'll never play, no matter how cheap it is. hell, even if it was free i wouldn't bite

Hmmm... as I was (finally) playing this, a thought came to me.

With selling this at 10¢, was a profit actually turned... were they selling at a loss? What is the cheapest a company could sell a(n electronic copy of a) game and turn at least a 1¢ profit.

I just kinda wondered this because 10¢ per customer seems like maybe not enough to pay for the bandwidth (especially if like me it took multiply tries to download correctly... and then multiple re-downloads to install correctly) and other expenses that even digital copies of games require.
