Here's a warning, if you complain about how hard high school is, and your parents and teachers try and tell you to stop whining because college will be a whole lot harder, don't believe them. That is a lie.
College was three times, and on some occasions, 5 times less difficult than high school.
So my advice is to do the best you can, because if you can get through high school, you can get through anything(at least anything dealing with further schooling and work).
Be prepared to have 8 hours of homework crammed into many individual nights.
Here is how easy college was compared to high school, at least from my experience:
High school:
A literature class: Read this 25 page play in two days(understand everything that is going on), and also in those two days, write a 5 page paper single spaced over the whole play properly discussing every key point and sub-point.
For a math class: Right notes down from the lesson as fast as you can while the teacher is talking and showing them and erasing them as he/she goes along, if you miss some of it, figure it out on your own.
Oh and you will have 40 problems to do for tomorrow, and 40 more for the next day.
Also, you will have to remember the special formulas because you will not be given them on the test if you forget.
Now here is what college was like for me:
A literature class:
The professor says: We will take two weeks(4 class days) to discuss this 25 page play. Over that time we will discuss as a class what our viewpoints are and what we think is going on. Though I will correct you and if you get to far of track and by the end I will tell you everything you need to know about this play.
Also, here is a writing prompt for these two pages of the play. From what I have told you in class, determine what the key point of these two pages is and how it effects what came before and came after. The paper you will be writing has to be a minimum of 3 pages double spaced. Oh and you have a whole week to get it done, if you have any problems understanding what is going on in those pages, and I will try and clear things up.
-----
Now if my laziness and procrastination was out of control, which it always was, I could always count on at least a two day extension on turning the paper in.
A math class I took:
The professor: Here are the notes that we will be discussing in class, you can look at them while I discuss them. Most everything you need to know is on those pages.
Oh and for the next class day(two days from now) do these 15 problems, for starters near the end of the class time I will help you do a couple of them.
And for the test in two weeks, don't worry about having to remember the formulas, you can bring a page of notes that has the formulas written on them.
---------------
So remember, survive high school, and the easy street of college is your reward.
