I've actually kindah wondered about that myself. I joined sometime in march and I'm seeing people who joined a month or so ago with well over 2-3000 posts.

do these people have nothing better to do?

My humble (and most likely ignored) opinion is that one should post if one feels one could add to the topic and is interested..but that's just me i guess

As far as I'm concerned, a new post every five minutes is a bit excessive if you aren't playing a forum game. However, if you've gotten yourself into a "Quote - Replay - Repeat" fight then a post every five minutes or so may be fine.

Some people post insane amounts of posts. I don't understand how they manage it.

Some people have alot to say, or are really opinionated. I know a communist, a fascist and a conservative all on these forums. They should make a sitcom.
I'd like to see that, and not understand it all at the same time. Sort of the same as why a child climbs into a tumbledrier, it looks fun, but it really isn't.

Grr Your posts are higher than mine.

Well, you seem like quite the jerk.

"You have no life" says the guy lurking peoples profiles.

Honestly though I sympathise with your key point.
How long does it take to look at a profile and its posts?
How long does it take to get 2000 posts?
I think you and I have a different representation of "No Life"

Ah, yes, the age old "I have a low post count; my posts are more relevant and useful" argument.

A lot of meaningless, wasteful, and utterly egotistical things are posted here. This thread is one of them, especially considering how hypocritical it is; it never hurts to proofread and make sure your BBcode is written properly. Or perhaps that oversight is forgivable because your "fingers run read [sic] with blood".

You, Zeldadudes, tout 'usefulness', and decry 'uselessness', but those concepts are entirely abstract. In claiming that your posts are more useful than others you inadvertently claim that your understanding of an abstract is more correct than everyone else's. Unless you're trying to start a cult, that's not a particularly healthy attitude to hold.

So please have a read of what i've said and tell me, using a sentence preferably, if i'm being silly or if i'm actually making some sense.
You're being silly in an entirely arbitrary way; you're being asinine.

Personally, I've only made about 650 posts in the forums; the rest are in user groups. So, how do you judge me; the type of poster who makes four fifths of their posts away from the forums?
You may have taken this the wrong way, and by may i mean you have. For one i never said that just because i have a lower post count that means that all of my posts have always been 100% helpful and insightful. However at one point i did say that i feel i put a lot of effort into every one of my posts, be whether people feel they are necessary. As one person stated earlier, any post is a necessary one if it contributes to arguement/discussion etc.

One thing i love that you picked up on is my typo of my original post with regards to my BBcode. At the time of writing this i was doing it in two different places, at home and then finally after a lecture. I don't usually proof-read generally as i don't want to change what i was trying to say at that particular point, i would want to change the language i use.

Lastly i will repeat, i never claimed that i am more useful than the community, i was merely saying that in a lot of cases that i see now people post irrelevant posts that do not benefit the actual key point in the thread. I will admit to being asinine but it wouldn't of had this affect on this many people if i hadn't have been like that.

The escapist is pretty much my main forum i browse, everywhere else is a complete shit hole. Also escapist keeps me away from 4chan which is a very very good thing.

"Wise men open their mouths because they have something to say. Fools open their mouths because they have to say something".[footnote]quote unrelated[footnote]mostly[/footnote][/footnote]

If you are actually contributing to the boards and not just posting "lol" or "that is cool" then I really don't see it as a problem to the boards. Maybe they "have no life" as you say but that really isn't any of our concern.

I usually only post when I actually have something to say - That said, I have been lurking the forums a lot recently due to being ill and stuck at home. If somebody's already said what I would have said, I sometimes don't bother anyway

Some people just love chatting about gaming.

It doesn't mean they're spamming the forums to get a high post count.

It's meme-posts like: 'this' and '/thread' that bug me.

And don't even fucking start me on 'cool story bro'.

I'm inconsistant in my postings here or anywhere.

I do it to be informative or I do it for laughs. I especially do it to kill time if time needs to be killed. I post where it interests me, and not simply because topics are there.

Other people here probably DO post too much. I don't think I'm one of them.

Eh, who really cares. It's pretty easy to get a high post count if you do a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of forum gaming anyway. I only visit this site a couple of times a day to see what's going on.

Well I only have 650 odd, but I've gone past the Gone Gonzo if you add my first few accounts that I discarded.

My posting rate isn't huge, but I go through stages of absolute boredom where I will post in ANYTHING to keep myself occupied.
