Instead of listing a bunch of honorable mentions like some people have I brought my list out to 15.

4 Team Fortress 2 (before it went free to play. after the game became shit thanks to hackers\greifers)

Worst Games Ever Played List below.

7 Team Fortress 2 (after it became free to play. Before the game was excellent. Now it is infested with hackers\ greifers)

Note I have not played Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3, or Civilization 5. Thus the only reason those 3 pieces of shit are not on my bottom 10 worst games ever played list. Had I listed them would take the 10th, 3rd, and 7th spots respectively for the shit I already know about them.
That's kind of obnoxious. Claiming a game is a piece of shit without playing it is not generally becoming for one hoping to be seen as a mature gamer. I think Civ 5 is great, and it is responsible for ruining my sleeping patterns.

Which is ironic, considering that hackers and griefers seem to be giving you grief. I didn't start playing until it went free, and the same is true of a lot of others. I have seen, maybe two hackers in over a year of playing the game, and they were quickly excised. And nobody else seemed to have such a hostile attitude as you imply. I think a less conceited viewpoint might be in order.

Disclaimer: you are entitled to your own opinion, though I believe it may require a better explanation such that it may be seem more intelligible.
There is a lot of information out there to be able to form a respectable opinion regarding mass effect 3s end but in regard to the rest of the game that 99% you can't really make such wide assumptions. I haven't played mass effect 3 yet and won't until I get my hands on that starchild erasure mod.

For Diablo 3 you can disagree about the way in which the game was delivered to it's audience e.g a sometimes laggy and constantly online experience with effectively no single player at all. The game itself isn't especially horrid from my experience and I can't make any judgements regarding whether it was a worthy sequel either since I have a very limited experience of Diablo 2.

I really know nothing about civilization 5 but my friend loves it.

This is more like "the games I've enjoyed the most" as opposed to the best, but:

Civ IV (with expansions) - I think Civ V is objectively a better game, but the sheer amount of time and effort I sunk into Civ IV is mindboggling.

Knights of the Old Republic - The second game had better ideas, but this one was just about perfectly structured, super fun, and no, I did not see the plot twist coming. I don't even like Star Wars; I think the games took the best Star Wars concepts and did something interesting with them.

Portal - I like Portal for the same reasons everyone else likes Portal, I guess.

Planescape: Torment - Besides the great story and characters, they also did an amazing job of integrating the game's concepts with the RPG setup

Assassin's Creed 2 - Again, I appreciated the clever integration of story with the game interface. The game was just plain fun to play, and the story and characters were more interesting than the first one in the series.

Super Mario 3 - If you were alive and playing video games at the time Mario 3 came out and you don't love it, I don't even know what to say to you.

Myst - I have no idea how well this would hold up if I played it now, but I have such fond memories of sitting with a friend at the computer, clicking through the environments with bated breath. Also, it was the first game I played that had a substantial plot.

Red Dead Redemption - The Grand Theft Horse gameplay is a blast, and the endgame felt like a punch in the gut, but in an Oscar bait way instead of a ME3 way.

Mass Effect - speaking of ME, goodness, I loved the first game. I enjoyed the other games, but the first game (despite some flaws) had such a great balance between the shooter mechanics, the RPG elements, and the action-adventure storytelling, and the game universe felt like a fresh take on some big sci-fi concepts.

Super Smash Bros - SSB + a group of friends + booze = hilarity

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - the design style and tone of the game are charming. I spent forever sailing that boat around.

In absoloutely no particular order.

Assassin's Creed 1
Battfield Bad Company 2
Battlefield 3
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Borderlands 1
Halo 3
Fallout 3
Saints Row The Third
(I would put Call of Duty here but it would be in the 10th position as well as I don't know which is my favourite out of CoD4, CoD Black Ops, CoD MW 2).

I liked Dragon Age 2 but the story was awful.

Top ten best games ever. Yay a chance to exercise my pretentious opinioatedness!
And be warned I'm also doing a top 5 worst also, and just in case I put one of your favorite games in my bottom list, Yes I am insulting you personally. So now that we got that out of the way.

The best!
10)Mirror's Edge
Proof that DICE isn't just an Infinity Ward wannna be, Despite EA's best efforts to make them seem like that. Mirror's Edge is a masterpiece even if at my best I could finish it in under an hour.
9)Dark Souls
This game made me think I'm a masochist, I should probably talk to a therapist or something but I can't get enough punishment from this game.
8)Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Hey remember fun? Me neither, But I'm pretty sure the definition had something to do with a cat dude and a little robot using a huge arsenal of awesome weapons to blow the crap out of bad guys.
7)Left 4 Dead 2
No top ten list is complete with out zombies on it. In seriousness though Valve is the master of level design, and this is about the only game I can think of where team work is an integral mechanic instead of just some tacked on "feature"
6)Rock Band 2
I guess this should be Rock Band 3 because they're pretty much the same game except RB3 has more. but what ever less is more and all that. Well RB 2 is the game that had the biggest impact on my life (and my neighbor's) because I took up the real drums because of it.
5)Portal
If you asked me to define Portal in 1 word I'd say perfect. Moving on.
4)Dragon Age: Origins
So when you think Bioware you think broken combat mechanics, insulting retcons, and gaping plotholes, But this came out before then Back when Bioware still had some dignity and that name evoked thoughts of peerless world building, deep and interesting writing and choices that actually mattered. DAO is the type of game you can play through 20+ times and each time feels unique. It's a shame about their new stuff though.
3)Record of Agarest War
I have a hard time explaining why I like this game so much, Short answer, it's the voice acting. That's it. It's really just the voice acting. The writing's great, you have a story that spans like 130 years and thirty some odd fully realized characters all tied up in a pretty decent strategy RPG. but the voice acting... It's magic to my ear balls. It seems a little odd that good acting is enough to make a game the third best thing ever but still. damn.
2)Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
The only thing more fun than running around on walls is controlling time, and wait? You're telling me I can do both at once? Sign me up.
1)Jak 2
It has the "It factor" all the elements blend together to make something greater than the sum of it's parts and it's parts are pretty damn good.

And the worst '_'

5)Grand Theft Auto 4
Listen Rockstar. I don't want to answer text messages in real life What The Fuck makes you think basing a game around answering text messages was a good thing?
Couple that with the worst driving physics ever of all times ever, and story that doesn't know the definition of levity and you have a recipe for boredom and frustration.
4)Call of Duty 4
the boring bad that paved the way for all the boring bad plaguing the industry today. I will never see the fascination with bad military jerkoff shooters, but I guess that puts me in a minority doesn't it?
3)Mindjack
I figured I'd have to put one undisputedly bad game in here, so here's the non functional tripe that I only played to see just how bad it actually was, and still came out disappointed.
2)Gears of War 3
This game and the whole Gears of War series just makes me feel bad to be a human. I've played non functional games that were less offensive. just a pile of increasingly poor design choices and the worst story that's ever been presented to an audience.
1)Mass Effect 3
As if you couldn't see it coming from all the "hints" I dropped in the Dragon Age Origins portion of this post the worst experience I've ever had while holding a controller was EA's systematic rape and destruction of what used to be my favorite series. (Just for reference before ME 3 nullified any point they served Mass Effect 2 was 6th place and Mass Effect was 9th place on that list up there^^ But according to Mass Effect 3 absolutely nothing I did in either of those games mattered in the slightest, so I guess they weren't as good as I though they were) There's just so much wrong with ME 3 that I couldn't do it's poor quality justice. So thanks EA. Thanks for the worst thing humans have done since the holocaust.

and one or two slightly edited stock photos
but yeah liking that game shouldn't be as big a problem as it is

Here's a list of 5 terrible games (or franchises) that I'm sure I'll get flamed for, but whatever...these games suck:

(in no particular order)

God of War franchise-Sucks. Repetitive and the quick time gets real old real quick. The story is nothing special and I just have never gotten why this is so damn popular.

Call of Duty Franchise-The single player could be good (and was in a couple of them), but its become clear that its an afterthought. As for the multiplayer, if I wanted to be yelled at by teenagers, I'd just go to work. These used to be decent, but as of now, its a cash grab every year (al la madden) and it boggles my mind that people still pay for this every year.

GTA San Andreas-This game is why I never played GTA IV (and from what I've heard, that's a good thing). I loved GTA III and Vice City, but if I wanted reality, I'd get off my couch (or play the sims). I don't want to spend my time working out or going to get something to eat...I already hate that in real life.

Assassin's Creed frachise-About the same as God of War. They're fun for a bit, but there's only so much of running around on roofs trying to find a hiding spot I can take. The story is ambitious, I'll give it that, but it also gets damn convoluted.

World of Warcraft-Now, to be fair, I had never played it until a few weeks ago. But the graphics just suck compaired to what I'd expect today (I know, its old, but still). I played for about 5 or 6 hours, thinking it'd get better, but it was next to impossible to understand what to do and where to go. Funny thing is I then gave SWTOR a try, and I really enjoy it.

So go ahead and blast me for that. I stand by my assertion. All those games suck.

Mmm this is gonna be tough as my top 10 list would be highly mood dependant.. Gonna cheat a bit and count series of games or games I feel can be paired up and count them as 1 or I'd never be able to answer.

Xcom: enemy unknown/xcom apocalypse
Masters of orion 2
Pharaoh/Zeus/Emperor from sierra city building series
Hearts of iron series/victoria series from paradox
Mount and blade warband/Napoleonic wars
Dominions 3/King of dragon pass (2 high quality indie strategy games most here wouldnt know about im betting, FOR SHAME)
Company of heroes/Dawn of war
Tropico series (1/2/3/4)
Dbz Budokai 3/Tekken 4 (had the most fun in a fighting game, both alone and with friends, with these 2 titles)

Damn none of my favorite rpgs even made it to the list xD Goes to show why I needed to cheat, I'd need a top50 to include the breath of my fav games. In the meantime happy enough with my top 10 even if there's a heavy strategy emphasis.
