It's also interesting that Madden NFL 07 is the only iteration to break the top ten, but then again it was the first of the series to appear on next generation consoles.

Madden NFL 06 was on Xbox 360 and I believe that the Xbox 360 was a next gen console.

NPD tracks a limited subset of North American sales data only, and the numbers don't extrapolate well to the world market. The source's original label is 'ALL-TIME TOP 10 US NON-PC GAMES': if you're 'borrowing' news coverage anyway, why not keep it as accurate as possible?

Research firm NPD has released its list of the bestselling console videogames of all time, and you may be surprised which games made it.

NPD has been tracking U.S. videogame sales data since 1995 and it just recently released the list of the top selling games in that region.

Glad Collin cleared that up because with so many franchises that are ridiculously popular and have cult followings the size of countries there is no way half of these would make the list. Especially since most of these games are within the 6th, and 7th generation of gaming. There are plenty of games that should have been able to top them.

As for the list, I dont buy much games so this doesnt really apply to me but some of them did come out of left field. Like the 3rd GTA? Ok.... And the number one? Cmon it should be disqualified considering it was a must buy for something essential.
