Fatel frame 2 is the most underrated horror games which is sad. Anyone who love horror games must try Fatel frame 2

I feel Fatal Frame and Eternal Darkness should move up a few places. FEAR and Siren: Blood Curse should be listed lower. You could arguably replace Silent Hill with Silent Hill 2

I do think Eternal Darkness really should be higher up. There has to be extra point put into a game designed to not only have the character think he's losing his mind, but the player as well.

System Shock 2 really should be the 1st place. It is a glorious game, very sinister.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth has probably the best chase sequence in games. It deserves a spot on any top 10 Horror games.

Silent Hill 2/3 and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth are missing. FEAR has nothing to do on this list.

I've yet to play Amnesia, but from what I've seen, the game almost forces you to be scared, using sounds (not music) and special effects. I'm not a particular fan of things pushed up in my face. Cheap scares are just cheap and annoying. True terror is much more gradual and enduring. Diablo 1 for example made you go down into the bowels of the earth, where true horror awaited. Every time you went down another level, you felt the stench of evil getting stronger, wondering if your trusty sword would be enough. Not a horror game, but this horror element made it a great game I guess that the scariest games are the ones that are scary by nature of their gameplay. As such, I'd rate Fatal Frame 2 as the scariest game ever made. Apparently, they're remaking it for the Wii (google for "Fatal Frame 2011"). A close second comes Thief 3. The entire design of the game is flawless, gradually building up momentum and atmosphere and then exploding in the "Shalebridge Cradle" level and the Catacombs follow up. And then there's Condemned. It might've been on top of my list, thanks to the brutal meelee, but sudden "scary" moments made it annoying at times. I also would rate Fear 1 very high on my list, not because of the endless Elma shots, but because of the horror and empathy you feel for her at the end of the game. There's a particular shot in the Japanese movie "The Ring 3" which suddenly makes you understand everything that has happened (especially the "ring" theme). Same goes for Fear 1.

Yes, I know that I'm a fangirl (at least I admit it!)

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It was so scary, because you actually had a timer, constantly reminding you to hurry up, the time really passed and the moon always crept nearer and nearer, not just when it changed from night to day or something like that. Plus the alien invasion (which I didn't know about beforehand) made me nearly crap my pants since I played it at night and... well, it's a Zelda game. You don't expect something like that in a Zelda game!

It was terrifying, because you actually played it as a kid, as in, the game was advertised for that age group (well, okay, maybe not exactly advertised for them, but still... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Mf2mp6fms) and the player just didn't expect all of that since it's not a straight up horror game.

In F.E.A.R. you are practically Neo from the Matrix which takes a lot of fear out of the game.

I believe my "#1" would have to be Amnesia, followed by the Dead Space games I dont play a lot of horror esquie games, so I cant really make a "Top Ten"....

i also dont like horror much, but i play them because this is something very much intresting and new, many industries these days working on horror games

you must have to give a try to fatal frame 2, its very much underrated but its really good
