According to this [http://torchlight2game.com/news/2012/08/24/one-week-until-pax/] it's looking like Runic is finally ready to announce Torchlight 2's super-delayed release at PAX.

Finally!

What are your guys' thoughts?

Well, it's only been, what, a year since they postponed it? Hilarious that now they're going to be releasing it alongside this year's big numbers, instead of last year's. :D

Seriously, I could've sworn they said that the thing was practically done when they announced the delay last year. If anything, they should've released it anytime over the last three months, when nothing was coming out. Now all of the post-summer releases are hitting shelves.

I heard they hit a major snag when one of their lead programmers got really sick several months ago. Also, considering how the sales of the first game and pre-orders have skyrocketed, they know they have guaranteed sales so they surfed on that for the last several months polishing Act 2, 3 and 4. Hope it was worth the wait.

I'll laugh if they announce another delay because they don't want to be competing with all of the big names again this year. Laugh and laugh and laugh.

But I guess we'll see. I might pick this up, the first one was all right but a few UI things really made it a clusterfuck for my wizard when I had tons of summoned demons and the field would get cluttered between the imps, constructs, and actual enemies. It got pretty hard to tell who I was supposed to be attacking because enemies didn't have name-plates unless you moused over them. And I know literally nothing about this game so I don't know if that's one thing they've changed.

I played in the Beta. It was a fucking blast, so I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Honestly though, at this point I really don't mind the wait. I have enough games to worry about at the moment. If you want my full thoughts of the game while it was in beta I have a first impressions video buried in the User Review forums somewhere.

True, but in my experience, when someone talks about "passing" on a game if it's got no PvP, they're not talking about the "fun" kind of PvP. They're talking about the kind where bitching and moaning gets the skills "rebalanced" everytime the metagame shifts, etc...

With open modding, I doubt TL2 will have much to offer that sort of "Srs bizniss" PvPer.

They already stated they weren't going to let PvP influence PvE balancing, so I am sure one of the four classes will bulldoze the others. That's not what these games do well anyway. It's about killing hordes of monsters! Hence all of the aoe.

Yay! ... Now I have to get a new computer sooner rather than later, though. October/November would be good, so we have time to finish other games and I can afford a computer.

Well that's not necessarily true. Diablo II's Open Battle.Net community had a unique group of people that would duel edited/hacked characters. The nature of the game's item system made it a very challenging affair to make a character as good as it could be. One of the biggest limitations was that characters could not be over 8kb in size, or else the game wouldn't read the character file. This meant that you had to choose which stats to put on your character very wisely. There were other limitations such as hard damage caps and a few bugs that you had to work around.

All in all it took a few days to create a new character from scratch. After that it took weeks, sometimes even months to tweak that character to be more efficient.

I played every class but the Engineer in beta and thought Berserker was the most challenging and fun. Embermage is awesome as well and was probably too good in the beta.

I think we're doing an outlander/embermage combo, but possibly berserker/embermage. Not sure yet. I'm a huge fan of AOEs, so my class it set at least. I haven't played the beta so I'm not sure on which other class to go with, though.

I'm in no hurry to play the game as Guild Wars 2 releases in 13 hours, but it's about time I get to know when I get the product I pre-purchased months ago.

It's definitely going to be exciting to play co-op in one of the harder difficulty levels, with a Hardcore character. The character classes are more interesting this time around, the "level OR attribute" requirements for items was a great idea, and the monsters' challenge doesn't come purely from obscenely large groups, but the skills of each monster and how they play together

Of the 3/4 I tried they were all fun. Pretty sure my girlfriend is going to want to go Engineer with me, so we'll have a lot of survivability between the two of us. She's getting the ferret pet too XP

IIRC, there was a wand/spell calculation bug in the beta that made Embermages just completely pwn face. I'm sure they'll still be awesome, but maybe a little less broken, now.

Now they need to stop messing around and give us the game so we can find out for sure! :)
