IIRC, there was a wand/spell calculation bug in the beta that made Embermages just completely pwn face. I'm sure they'll still be awesome, but maybe a little less broken, now.
I don't know about buggy wands, but I can see there would be a bug relating to your weapon's elemental damage, since that affects spell damage.

At one point I found a 2-handed unique axe that dealt only elemental damage (you can imagine I was ****ing ecstatic) and I was still destroying enemies and dungeon bosses like no tomorrow

I played the beta and was absolutely bored out of my skull without a summoner class. And the only time I was in any danger whatsoever is when I forgot to resummon my healbot after a loading screen. I'm gonna pass.

An announcement of an announcement, how fuckin retarded. I pre-ordered it months ago and I have now lost interest. I don't even care when it comes out anymore. It may sit in my Steam library for weeks or even months before I get around to it.

I played the first Torchlight and thought it was really fun, I can't wait for the sequel, it's going to be really fun!

Woo hoo! We have a release date for the release date!

No meaningful PvP. It's got "dueling" but nothing structured.
Should still be pretty fun though, especially if someone mods the server and you have way more people in the world than was intended. BATTLE ROYAL!
True, but in my experience, when someone talks about "passing" on a game if it's got no PvP, they're not talking about the "fun" kind of PvP. They're talking about the kind where bitching and moaning gets the skills "rebalanced" everytime the metagame shifts, etc...

With open modding, I doubt TL2 will have much to offer that sort of "Srs bizniss" PvPer.
very true, which is while i will swarm TL2, i'm looking for some good ole relaxing fun!

OT: definitely gonna get this when it comes out (after checking out some reviews of course, but still, 20 bucks? can't beat that.)

I think they haveto be really wise where they put the release date now, the big releases barely started and I already have my hands full with some hefty games... things will only get crazier from here on.

I didn't play the beta, but I did pre-order the game. I don't ever intend to take it online and kill monsters with anyone else, or for that matter kill anyone else. I also probably won't wind up installing any mods, but that will in no way affect my enjoyment of the game, because not wanting to mod everything does not force me to hand in my PC Gaming Master Race membership card.

At least, I think so. If not, what mods is everyone else looking to install? I might look into a few of those after I have some experience with the vanilla game.

So there.

My thoughts?

'What, it's not out yet... weird, I thought they wanted to compete with Diablo 3'. Other then that... I thought Torchlight was good but long and boring with little to break up the grind so I don't much care about the sequel.

Sweet, I played an Engineer in the Beta and I'm sticking with that, should be even better if they stuck with their "Enough levels in a skill gets you a new effect" style leveling they were talking about in a Yogscast Interview.

Can not wait.

Can't wait, I'm bored to death of Diablo 3 and Path of Exile just doesn't feel right.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Gave up on Diablo 3 back in May as it just wasn't the sort of dungeon crawler I was hoping for. TL2 ticks so many more boxes for me (mainly the LAN support and character customization) so I'm pretty excited about how this game will turn out. Annoyingly I've missed every beta weekend I had invites to thus far. Fucking friends. Why do they always want to socialise on the weekends?!

According to this [http://torchlight2game.com/news/2012/08/24/one-week-until-pax/] it's looking like Runic is finally ready to announce Torchlight 2's super-delayed release at PAX.

Finally!

What are your guys' thoughts?

My thoughts? They are two fold:

First - About bloody time!

Second - Can't wait to sink untold hours into this with friends. Especially after the rather horrid taste Diablo 3 left in my mouth.

[Bonus thoughts]

Yay for LAN support, offline-line play, and mod support. You're quickly earning a special place in my heart Runic.
