Hi everyone!
Maybe you've heard of Torchlight! Maybe you've heard of steam?
If not, Torchlight is basically a clone of diablo 2. It was a ton of fun! One of my most played games of last year! Furthermore, Steam is a free PC game distribution platform. It provides chat, achievements, friends list, free updates to games, server hosting, user groups, unlimited downloads, and has amazing deals. Speaking of deals:

Right now, Torchlight is $5!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/41500/

Why make a big fancy post about this? Well, firstly Torchlight just blew me away. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but what I got was a fun and polished action RPG. While pretty unbalanced, it' was just a riot. And for FIVE DOLLARS? Get outta here!

Secondly, I feel more people should give PC gaming a chance! Torchlight has INCREDIBLY low requirements:
OS: Windows XP or later
Processor: x86-compatible 800MHz processor
Memory: 512MB
Graphics: DirectX-compatible 3D graphics with at least 64MB of addressable memory (such as an ATI Radeon 7200, NVIDIA GeForce 2, or Intel GMA 950)
DirectX®: 9.0c
Hard Drive: 400MB
To put this in retrospect there are SMART PHONES that run at almost 800MHz. I'm pretty sure almost any PC from the lat 5 years would have no problem playing this game. If you ignore PC as a platform, why not give it a shot? Maybe you'll like it O_O

Just watched the trailer, the game looks pretty fun, and for $5 you can't go wrong. I want it now, looks like a good game to spent my holidays playing.

I should also point out that for your $5 you also get fully functioning MOD tools if you're into that kind of thing. Even if your not, you can install mods with them that other people made to extend the life of your $5 even more!

Also, when I first got Torchlight I was really put off by it's ultra-cartoon graphics. But an hour into my first character I REALLY started to love the look!

Good game, got it last time it was on sale around Christmas time. Got a big modding community as well but I would absolutely *love* for them to release a multiplayer version.

I spent 10$ for it and it feels like it was a steal. I have easily gotten 50 hours worth of solid entertainment out of it if not more.

I think they are trying to turn Torchlight into an MMO/multiplayer version of some kind that's free to play? It's sort of confusing and I didn't follow it very well. The best I can tell is they released this single player version to help fund the multiplayer version. This doesn't in any way mean torchlight is bad though!

That's my opinion too. I got it around the holidays for $5 and I felt like I robbed someone. It sort of alarms me that they made a pretty quality game and can afford to release it so cheaply when all the ultra huge studios are constantly reporting revenue loss. IMO I'd love if other devs did this as well.

Jawsome!!
Please post back here to tell me what you think, I'm really curious! You could also PM me if you want. Not that I can make you do either, but I'd like to hear back :)

Also, it's a LOT like Diablo 2. Half the devs (or something like that) were on the Diablo 2 team :p

I was reading about the game, like people do when their download is moving at a glacial pace, and it looks like they are releasing an MMO (that I will not play, people don't like me online, im just to good) in 18 months.

Its also overshadowed by the "its a Diablo 2 clone" complaints, which usually means "fun new game in a style I already love, stop complaining and enjoy it."

I always disliked the Diablo games, but I figured for 5 bucks, why the hell not.

This was about 6 hours ago, and I only just realized that 6 hours had passed >.>

I spent the twenty minutes or so it took to download getting some mods ready and installed (Torchleech is my new best friend), and then I got started, and I have to say wow it is good. Very simple yet very addictive. I think the custom class I'm using is kind of overpowered, I'm playing on Hard and I wouldn't really describe it as such. Maybe it's just because I've had a lot of experience with RPG's, but it's still pretty great. I'm definitely getting my money's worth on this :)

And this is why I love pc gaming: Mods just let you get so much more bang for your buck.. this is like STALKER and Oblivion all over again.

Though I do have to ask, did the makers just TAKE the sounds for items and such right out of Diablo 2? This has to be copyright infringement..

I don't think they took the sound directly, but I think the vast majority of their Audio team are the same guys who did D2. For example, all the music is done by the same guy.

PS: I love Soul Eater, nice moon avatar :D

Yeah, I don't know why people hate on the game so much. Sure, they're going to release an MMO in well over a year - but spending 5 dollars to get a game NOW which, even if it's a D2 clone, is a shit load of fun is totally worth it.

I spend 5 dollars on coffee every day it's not like some crazy expenditure.

Yeah, Torchlight was awesome. Far better value then most titles that have come out this year and the last.

How big is the download file exactly? The demo is 840mb, but when I looked at the game a while ago on a torrenting site, it said it was only 500mb.

Yeah, I bought it month ago, great game. Also, the whole "sale a few days after release happened to me with Dragon Age. Could've gotten the deluxe for less than I paid for the normal.

Well, I had a Visa Gift Card with 10 dollars still on it, so I bought it. I enjoyed the demo enough, so I'm sure this will be worth $5.

I had one of those before. I never understood why the person didn't just give me cash. The card has an activation fee (paid by the purchaser not the giftee) so in reality they cost MORE than if they just gave me money!
