Total War Countdown/ UPDATE: Shogun 2 confirmed!

I think the dates are random. The point of these teasers is just that - to be teasers, not to actually give us a way of figuring out anything exact. The only thing we "know" is that it will end on one particular year. So what we should do is think of a particular event of special importance to the possible areas it could be and see if any years stand out and we can guess that might be the one it ends on.
Because of the riddle - not Rome, not Shogun, no guns, BUT IS in the east if I interpreted it correctly - and naval warfare I personally I think it will revolve around China including warring dynasties and involve Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and India for diversity of factions and greater use of ships. I only know some general history from these places so I can't guess a year but I bet this is where to look.
Anyone know some significant dates in Chinese history? Maybe the Yellow Turban Rebellion or the rise of the Han?

Personally, I like the idea of moving away from gunpowder. Empire never inspired me to do anything other than ensure I had more cannons of higher quality than the other guy and enough infantry to defend them from assault. There never seemed to be much reason to do a lot of maneuvering in a battle except when defending against an unexpected attack. Incidentally, when conducting a fortress defense with little more than a few units of line infantry and some grenadiers, I found that grenadiers are absurdly overpowered. More than once two units of grenadiers were more than sufficient to completely annihilate an assaulting force as poured through narrow breaches in the walls.
It does seem like it's gonna be Shogun, however, Shogun apparently did feature guns, at least that's what I read.sgtshock said:

Well they are pretty restricted on eras - since they need to have enough actions and armies that did function as units (World War troops tended to be have little formation and spread over areas)
They could do early China (dynastys and three kingdoms era) - might be difficult to work out though.
I'd love to see Rome remade with more factions and bit of a bigger game map. Although as long as it isn't firearms I'll be happy - they just killed it for me.
EDIT: Just saw the hourglass thing and read an article saying Shogun 2 demo was pencilled in for E3

I'd love to see Rome remade with more factions and bit of a bigger game map. Although as long as it isn't firearms I'll be happy - they just killed it for me.

Haven't read through the whole thread so forgive me if someone has already analysed this but:
"In Spring it roams not - Spring Release Date? 'Roams not' = Not roam?
Maybe eastern sun rises - East = Asia, 'Sun Rises' = Rising Sun? Japan?
Nor will it show guns" - This part confuses things, obviously 'Show Guns' = Shogun(s)
But are they trying to say it's not Shogun? (Nor) And as someone stated, Shogun did in fact have guns, just not to the extent of Empire. Maybe China or Mongolia pre-Shogunate Era Japan?
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a return to Japan, Shogun was my first Total War and still probably the best imo.
