Thing is, the video about Gary's Incident got 600k views, which is more than he normally gets. The video he made about how his video about Gary's Incident got taken down, however, got 3 million views.krazykidd said:That's not what i'm arguing for. And like i said i don't agree with the action, but i donunderstand it. TB has a very big following, if he says negative things about a game , it could affect sales. Now, because he is an internet personality, his words carry weight. In the eyes of publishers he ( and many LPers) are no names, who became popular on youtube( and other means) that a) make money off their games with their content and b) can directly influence their sales based on what they say. I understand why companies feel threatened by them. That's all i meant. I understand why they take these actions.
Now, IF anyone has permission for the devs or publishers to use gamefootage and review games then it's silly because you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Everyone inherently has permission. It's the law. Now, IF anyone has permission for the devs or publishers to use gamefootage and review games then it's silly because you can't have your cake and eat it too.
They don't appear to check at all. I've seen videos taken down that were flagged by Adolph Hitler, so the process is either automated or Google staff are too stupid to live.Kyrdra said:So before everyone gets their pitchforks out please read this:

The developer say they didn't do it. So what we have here is conflicting information especially since TB said it got taken down by them.
Either way it reflects badly on youtube. If it was an imposter doing it they should check it better who flags something. If it was the devs then it is still bullshit to takedown the review simply because the footage shouldd be under fair use. Ohh yeah and if it is the latter shame on the devs

It's completely automated. I've had to deal with this broken system for about 2 years now since I do LPs. When you are uploading, during the final part of uploading they run an algorithm on the file to see if anything in your video is copyrighted. If it is then it will automatically either get a 3rd Party Content ID or an actual Copyright Strike. After that, anyone can flag the video claiming to own it, even if they don't own the legal rights to it in any way, shape, or form.Reed Spacer said:They don't appear to check at all. Everyone should be "allowed". Unless you don't like freedom.krazykidd said:Actually you know what ? I get it. Why would i want a bunch of randomers talking about my games. Especially if it's a bad game or they are known to say bad things about their games. Sure it's free publicity, but only if the reviewer liked it. If the reviewer hated it, and is a popular figure, then it's bad for business. Yes it's a way to control information about their games , but i do believe only certain people should be allowed to " review" games not every tom, dick and harry with a camera ( i'm not saying that's what total biscuit is).
Its not that i necessarily agree with the reasons for taking down/flagging videos. It's just that i understand where they are coming from.

I actually showed my little brother a "highlight reel" of some of the worst glitches, voice acting and animations in the game. His respone?Fdzzaigl said:Ahahah, oh gods I saw that video. The game was so bad I was crying my eyes out laughing.
I'm thoroughly convinced that the PR department is the biggest grindstone around game developments neck today. Microsoft keeps saying stupid shit, EA can't open their mouth without ledging a foot in there, etc, etc.Fdzzaigl said:They don't seem to be any better at PR than they are at making games.
